    I loved this sketch when it first came out. I thought it was hilarious. Genius writing and acting by Rob Morrow.

    I watched this as a kid and ha e always yelled "clam chowder" when ever someone was completely out of the loop

    I say ‘they probably show them the French connection’ all the time and no one ever understands why. I’m so glad I got this see this sketch again for the first time in decades! It’s funny how little things like that make a silly impact on you…

      I say “Clam CHOWDAH!” and everyone thinks I’m quoting The Simpsons episode with Mayor Quimby’s nephew. And I say “Nah, it’s that SNL skit with the Time Machine in the bathroom and the guy that is behind in the conversation” and by the time I get to Time Machine people are talking to/about someone/something else and I just wanna crawl under a rock and expire.

    This is such a subtle concept for a sketch. It makes me laugh so hard, though. Also thumbs up for Siohban Fallon!

    OMG I have been looking for the sketch for over 20 years. All I remember when it aired as a rerun in the early days of Comedy Central was “CLAM CHOWDA!!” And it being so out of place! This is an itch that I finally got to scratch!

    3:48 LOL! Yikes if only they knew. And Prince is not one of the musicians you would even say “that guy” about. He was an extremely unique talent.

      He was starting to hit a fallow period in the early 90s after a never ending string of hits over the past decade. It wasn't the only prince joke coming out of the 90s calling Prince a has been. Calling him "old man" was just being facetious.

      What fxvk are you talking about, prince is still around?!!! THAT GUY?!! and calling him the old man?! 2 years before this,the dude won the grammy for best motion picture song with, party man from the Batman soundtrack! And was nominated for album of the year! And video of the year!!! And the very year this aired,he was nominated for song of the year!! Between Batman and the airing of this sketch,he had 2 triple platinum albums! 😆 The dude was winning award,into the 2000s! Not to mention the greatest Superbowl half time show of all time!!! Only Michael Jacksons rivaled it!!! These people are idiots!

      I mix up Northern Exposure with Due South and Picket Fences. They were all from the same time period.

      @@57highland Interesting, i find them all totally different, but i do think its similar to Twin Peaks, Northern Exposure came out 3 months after it and it copied a lot of the visual and music aspects of the series.

      @@ekLuca I think they all coincided time-wise (i.e., aired in the same seasons) or nearly so.
      And yes, I saw the first few episodes of Twin Peaks but didn't stay with it. I remember the big murder mystery, though.

    This is baffling, I hadn't seen this skit since it aired and over the years I somehow started remembering it with Edward Norton instead of Rob Morrow. Now I feel like I'm in an alternate universe where Rob Morrow starred in this skit and not Edward Norton.

      Alex Peraza: I also saw this when it first aired. I remembered Morrow because I was familiar with “Northern Exposure” as well at the time. Looks like I ended up on the opposite side of the Mandela on this one.

      But seriously, this sketch is from 1992, and nobody heard of Ed Norton before 1996. So he wouldn't have been on SNL in '92.

    Can't believe no one laughed at him going back for the condom but then I saw the audience was high above and behind them likely not seeing it or watching it reversed in a mirror.

    I think it's great that SNL puts a description in the video to kill the new viewer's experience. Great choice. Oh, and not putting the actor's names in the description is absolutely stellar. No new viewers would want to know their shitty names. SNL is the best.

      The description includes "having coffee with his friends" - however they are actually drinking beer.

      I didnt know what the skit would be about. And had to read the comments section to know who the actor was. I don't even know who the blonde was. Either couldve been that weeks host. I thought it was Andrew Shue.

      Jim Vortakana: That’d be Beth Cahill. The 1991-1992 season was her only one.
