Faust is my favorite track off of Crest. Such a magical sounding song on such a magical sounding album. Absolutely gorgeous.

I know what vlar was talking about with the mixed feelings online, but that was mostly people being mad because they wanted the “old bladee” back or whatever and werent accepting his new stylistic choices. I think this is the most appreciated album of his by people who weren’t already fans of his music though. Not my favorite but still enjoy it and appreciate the pop-ey elements. The Fool is probably the next one if you want to continue listening to bladee that entire album goes so crazy.

You should listen to some of his older music, Icedancer is a very highly acclaimed rap album and is full of bangers
i dont see the lyrics in this album as dark, especially on 5 star crest to me they're about embracing suffering as a natural part of life and coming to terms with the fact that we all die and finding the beauty in it. It's not dark, its actually rather positive imo, and it also reflects a lot of buddhist philosophies which i find interesting. i wonder if bladee was reading about buddhism or if these ideas were his own

Crest is an amazing album you should definitely check out more stuff by Ecco2k if you can appreciate his vocals and lyrics he's definitely an amazing artist, if you are interested you should listen to his solo album E it goes very deep into his vulnerability and drug use/addiction.

Nothing against you specifically, youre cool and open to stuff but its a bummer when chat is on with random ppl whose opinions dont matter and they influence the steamers in any way on any type of art...just experience it yourself. Spotify tends to be more correct than genius with most dg music, especially pre-crest
it's true a lot of bladee songs sounds really sweet but then the lyrics have this darkness to them. i think on this project their voices are sometimes quiet or blending into the mix on purpose cus the beats play as much of a central part as the singers - they're all made by a guy called whitearmor, he's also part of drain gang.
i think they often make use of like dissonance and allowing "ugliness" both in the vocals and the beats and it can throw people off sometimes. the vocals can also sound really peculiar or amateurish, especially as you go further back in their catalogue, but that is very much part of the appeal and charm. all bladee's albums sound quite different from each other and since you've started with his two latest releases it might be a good idea to continue backwards chronologically to see how the sound evolves over time.
