skycedi have you visited your mom's hometown/village? i'm a former army brat and soldier, but the last time i was stationed back in Korea i went back by myself, and i'm really glad i did-just a thought?
I love Mukbangs! All the above, and I can't wait for the apatment tour. I'm so excited for you. I think Syvia B suggesstion of revisiting your Mom's hometown would be nice too. Street food compare to resturants. Shopping and what it's it like for a mixed race to be in Korea. How do people treat you? The cultral shock of livinging Korea. Also you have a beautiful smile and very articulate when you speak. Can't wait for more videos from you.
Just bring us along when you go out to eat, party, also anything that hasn't been covered. Also can you cover the Dream path in Jinhae, Korea? Is it near you it's so beautiful.
I've been watching Megan Bowen for a few years now, so it will be interesting to see the things that you experience as a man in Korea versus a woman. Megan displays a lot of the female fashions in Korea. Can you show the men's fashions?....oh and lots of food?!?!? I never get tired of seeing the food. lol I love watching your vlogs because you're so positive, optimistic, and full of energy. I know you're going to do a wonderful job in Korea! :-)
Thank you so much for the feedback and also your comment! I think your suggestion is awesome. I love fashion and I'm actually excited to see how my fashion will develop here and share it. Maybe have some fashion vlogs too - Awesome suggestions!!
I just came upon one of your videos and I couldn't stop watching them. I think your an amazing, smart and positive young man. Best of luck to you and God bless.
One month flew by! I always enjoy seeing your upbeat and positive attitude. It’s so, easy to see the genuinity in that. Getting to know Korea through your lens has been awesome and I’m looking forward to seeing your adventures unfold! PS: I’m lol about your “gift for getting lost.” It’s my best talent too haha
How lovely and congrats on your journey! I can relate on not being as fluent with my second language haha! I want to learn Korean and Thai too! I'm wishing you good times and hoping you take care. Any video content you want to share is cool with me. Such a treat 🙏
Hi Cedi! I've been watching your vlogs here and there and they're quite interesting. The first one I watched was the background story of your parents and how they met along with the birth of you and your sister and different phases in your life from childhood, high school and now. I've always wanted to travel to South Korea but I always had my doubts because I am a person of color. But seeing your vlogs on your journey to becoming a English teacher in Korea has inspired me to just go for it. I love your optimistic attitude and your dimples. I can see why your students say you are handsome.
Hi Tinotenda, Thanks for the comment and kind words :) I'm glad that you came across my videos as well. I hope that you travel over to South Korea because I know that you will enjoy your experience. I know many people of color (including myself because most Koreans have no clue that I'm half-Korean haha) who have nothing but positive experiences here :) I think you will love it! Thanks again.
skycedi you're going to do exceptionally well in Korea. You have a bright and positive attitude, as well as being motivated and determined to fulfill your goals. I wish you the best of success and happiness.....and I'm thinking of learning a new language.
Hi Cedric! First time commenting, but I love your channel! I'm a Korean-American and just learned that I'm going to have to move to Daejeon next year, so I'm especially keen to see how life unfolds for you there... because to be frank, I'm not too excited about moving. Hopefully, your videos will change my mind.
Hi! I'll definitely be sure to show you guys my experiences in Daejeon. So far, it's a great city! Super convenient, big, shopping, food, entertainment, but also has quiet spots and even hills and mountains nearby. I can get to Seoul in an hour and Busan in 1.5 hrs. Anywho, I'll be sure to make videos about Daejeon and hopefully it will get you excited to come next year :)
skycedi Thanks! It actually doesn’t sound bad at all. I guess I’m just worried about not knowing a soul there since I won’t be an English teacher and won’t have that network. But I’ll stay positive! Good luck with teaching, and hopefully I’ll be able to make it to one of your meetups next year if you have any! :)
I am very interested in pursuing teaching English in Korea and this was really informative. I’m so excited to see what’s next for you! I graduate from uni this May and my future is really fuzzy right now. Hoping to find some clarity soon.
That's awesome and you're not alone in feeling uncertain about the future upon graduating uni. Perhaps considering teaching English in Korea can provide clarity or at least a bit of a break to regain clear vision and focus :) If you haven't seen them yet, I have older videos of me when I started this whole journey of teaching English last year. It may be of some help!
Hi Cedi, Seeing as though I plan to one day visit Korea since I've been wanting to for quite sometime now. I would like to see any videos you set up to show "Korea" as a whole. I'm not picky or particular about any one thing I'd like to see, I wanna see it ALL lol.... so anything you post would be just fine with me. So happy for you and glad you are adjusting well to your new environment. Talk to you soon ❤
Hello! Awesome ~ I think you'll definitely love your visit to Korea one day. Thank you for the suggestion ~ I will definitely see how I can creatively show Korea as a whole through my vids. Hopefully those will help! 😬
Wow, one month flew by! What I love about your channel Cedi is your positivity and excitement. I am looking forward to getting your point-of-view as a half-Korean visitor to Korea. I'd love to see your content revolve around interacting with Koreans, as opposed to other foreign youtubers. You could collab with them, but keep it real with interacting with Korean people. When I lived in Korea as a young person, I would hop on the subway and just explore. Because I looked hapa, Koreans on the street would invite me to coffee just to practice English. I met a lot of friends just meeting on the streets. People are so kind, once you break the ice. Koreans will do everything for you - invite you everywhere. I was able to see the real Korea like that. Looking forward to more! - Your California noonah Gina.
Very good advice and feedback Gina! Thank you so much. And I'll definitely be looking to collab with Native Korean RUclipsrs as well. Looking forward to making those connections and those relationships :) And I agree with you - Korean people are generally super kind once you break the ice and will take you in. Looking forward to that^^
G. Dub unfortunately, the times of koreans being nice to foreigners isn’t the same as it use to be since there are so many foreigners in korea now. Foreigners aren’t as “special” as they use to be.
waterflowzz I think it depends a lot on the individual. I am like Cedric, very “chak-he” which Koreans like. (More soft-spoken, chill and respectful). Also, if you are friendly and open and sincerely try to learn the language and cultural nuances, you will be fine.
Just found this channel I subbed! I'd like to see videos that includes the korean friends that you make while there. I guess vlogs of any interesting stories or experiences.
Glad you made it here to Korea! In addition the all of the other topics, I would like to see some music related videos. I.E. music production, performances etc.
대박!^^ So glad you're adjusting well. It didn't take me long to adjust living there back in 2008. Man, I can't believe it's been almost a year since I left Korea. When I first landed, it felt like home right away. To improve your Korean, listening to Kpop and watching Kdramas without subtitles will help with learning Korean as well as finding a language exchange partner or a study group. Also, integrating examples of Kpop/dramas into your lessons will help you relate to your students. Find out what they're listening to or watching. Some of it might be American, so you could integrate that as well. Keep enjoying your time there, and make the most of it.
Thank you for sharing^^ And awesome suggestions btw ~ I've already began to connect with natives here and it's been helping so far! I'm pretty excited about that. Hopefully, you can make it back to Korea in the future :)
Thank you for these videos. I am currently applying to EPIK. I am 31 yrs old and you made me feel like I'm not too old. Hope we can meet one day. Thanks.
I want to see/know everything!! Haha. But I'd like to know more about good places to visit and more about food! I love me some food! But I would like to see whatever you have in store for us.
skycedi awesome! Yay! Food videos coming soon to skycedi vlogs. Lol really excited to see different places to visit and such. Since I really would like to do epik once I finish school.
Skycedi, thanks for sharing this content with those of us who can't be there. Should I find myself in South Someday, I think I'll have some prep for it by way of your videos. Btw I wouldn't mind if you showed some more food vids. Keep up the good work, bro.
Collin, I'm glad that my vids can in some way prep you for a future visit! And thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely plan on doing more food vids :)
Lol awesome videos what ever you bring i will follow. Korea is home i agree. You know when I'm there i always be chillin at a cafe' and be thinking to leave eveything in USA and start fresh in korea
Just joined, I hope for the best for you. I'm Korean American, but never visited. Am checking out your vids before I visit this fall for the first time! I look full Korean, but having been born and raised in the states - I know I'm going to face hurtles and difficulties, so any guidance you have would be helpful!
Wow, thanks for sharing and that's exciting that you'll be visiting Korea for the first time. You'll definitely love it. I have a few vids that may be helpful and I'll plan to make some more as well!
Hello..first time commenting and I m new to this channel but I really love your channel.. I have watched all your vblogs...really Awsome..gr8 eagerly waiting for your next video...i bliv u will surely achieve your goal ..have a nice stay there..stay healthy and happily...many more👍👍👍👍👍from my side...I m from MANIPUR (NORTH EAST PART OF INDIA)
I would love to see you do talking heads videos where you speak about your experiences (good and bad). I love mukbangs so definitely those as well. I love learning about other cultures so I would be super interested in hearing about the commonalities as well as the differences between our culture and the Korean culture. Also, what does your mom think about you living in Korea...does she plan to visit? I find your experience very courageous and adventurous..so rewarding :)))
Wow, thanks for the feedback. It's very helpful! My mom is excited about me living in Korea but she is very sad that I'm not nearby. She does plan on visiting later this year!
How far is Taejon from Seoul? I used to live in Tong-du-Chon. It was approximately one hour North of Seoul. I know you will love it there. I lived there in 1982-83. I'm dating myself, but as a result my love for Korea is timeless! You will do well! God bless!!
You had me at Daejeon. You're next to where my aunt lives, which is Sejong. I'm teaching in Daegu and I've been here for a week. You should definitely do a mukbang video.
HIYA CEDRIC, ITS NOW TO SEE YOU BACK IN YOUR ELEMENT :) I'M SURE ITS GOING TO BE LOT OF ADJUSTMENTS AS YOU ENCOUNTER NEW CHALLENGES AND NEW ADVENTURES TO OVERCOME! LOVE WATCHING YOU ALONG YOUR JOURNEY, CONTINUE TO BE A RAY OF SUNSHINE AND A BLESSING TO EVERYONE YOU MEET, ITS NICE TO SEE A YOUNG MAN PURSUING HIS DREAM AND TAKING STEPS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! KUDOS TO YOU! P.S., DON'T 4GET TO CALL YOUR MAMA :)
I want to see all the things! But 먹방!! I love food, too ...well as long as you don't do the ASMR style I'll watch lol Glad things are going well and I think for most peeps getting used to the subway on that first day is always a doozie. I went to the wrong station to meet a friend and the other one was an HOUR from where I was. Long story short, we never met. Lol
LOL the worst ...yeah, I hope you ended up meeting your friend at another time haha. And yes, thanks for the suggestion - I'll be sure that all of my vids will be ASMR free
07:25 Any information on food related videos about vegan restaurants or farmers markets? Any chance of seeing the inside of your classroom/work area, even without students/colleagues?
Even i have the same problem...i forget things like anything. Good to know that you have adjusted so well❤ YOU CAN MAKE FOOD VIDEOS AND TELL ALTERNATIVES FOR AVAILABLE FOR VEGETARIANS TOO..😅 please
Super excited to see all different types of content. I love to see it all. Your cinematography should make it 1000x more jaw-dropping. Food is always good start though! Haha. Good luck! Hoping to see outside of Seoul. :)
Hi skycedi, Will it be an easy transition to understanding natural korean language compare to what you have learn in American? Because some of the words are new? What about the sounds or pronouns of each word?
I think for me, it will be a natural and smooth transition for me to understand Korean here considering I already have a solid base. Don't get me wrong, it will still take a lot of effort on my part, but I think that i'll progress in a short amount of time. I grew up primarily around the older (1st) generation of Koreans who migrated to the states in the 80s (e.g. my mom, her friends and social circle)...and a big part of how they speak is from the past with a mix of current day lingo. So it's interesting to see how the language has evolved over time. Even my mom had some trouble with a bit of the language when she visited in 2012! It's interesting but I can't wait to begin picking up on the lingo :) Oh, and great video suggestions as well!
yeah...that's the hardest part when you wanna open your account or get your own phone...especially the forms they give you are in Korean and you are lost where to write what.....all the best man.
Please, show historical and events that occurred difference areas of S. Korean, related fashions and foods including ingredients, difference educations in the USA and S. Korean? Holla back.
I'd like for you to share your journey in Korea with us. Vlogs mainly and a variety of topics involving EPIK, food, entertainment, travel, survival... anything goes, as long as you're comfortable and it's not forced
how do you like teaching your students so far? i remember when i first started i had such a difficult time managing my large classes and was working for the weekend. but these days i am fully enjoying work along with the play. :) cheers to your new adventure!
Thanks for sharing Shannon and that's very encouraging. Surprisingly enough, I haven't started teaching kids yet since I'm at a training camp and our first camp doesn't start until a month from now. So it's been planning and preparation this whole time. It's a very interesting set up!
Hi Cedric~ First time commenting, really enjoy your videos! I’m Korean American and I speak Korean fluently but I’m dating a African American boyfriend who tries really hard to learn and speak Korean. Could you share some tips for those wanting to learn how to speak Korean and what you found to be easy or beneficial in learning? Thank you!
Thank you for commenting and for the feedback! That's awesome that your boyfriend is making efforts to learn Korean. And that's a great suggestion about video(s) about tips and tricks and such. I'll be thinking of ways I can share what's helping me!
skycedi thanks so much and looking forward to the video! I’ve never heard you speak Korean in your videos other than food items (which I try to teach to my boyfriend as well) so I’m looking forward to that as well! Ps- he’s from NC as well and it was really neat for him to watch your video representing NC! We both learned a lot from your video talking about embracing both Korean and African American heritage! Definitely gave us a lot of insight and I really appreciated how you embraced both cultures! I normally don’t comment a lot on videos but I wanted to share my genuine appreciation for the content you share with the world~ it’s much needed!
I'm very glad that you decided to comment! And i'm very happy to hear that my vids are helping you and your bf to facilitate some cultural conversations :) That's so cool. I'll be working to include more Korean language content in my videos more and more!
I would personally like to see you visit Gwangju. Do you know how few Gwangju blogs there are? Mukbangs are cool if you are a quiet chewer.... Art thou a quiet chewer?
Quiet chewer...hmmm...we may have some problems lol! But yes, a visit to Gwangju is a great idea :) I'll need to put that one in the books - looking forward to exploring that part of Korea too
It’s okay to not be fluent in Korean satori. Be ready to immerse yourself fully in the culture, be spontaneous and challenge yourself to enjoy everything! We are weaving together our live stories after all. ;)
I have a decent base of Korean that I plan to build on - I plan to really make myself speak Korean every chance I get (which has always been the missing piece). I'll also use online resources to help! As far as what it's like coming to Korea ...for me, it's a fulfillment of something I've always wanted to do. It's exciting for me to be in the place where my mom grew up to explore this part of my heritage on a deeper level.
LMK below what type of content you guys would like to see! Vlogs, Mukbangs (먹방), Korean culture topics, Collabs - or all the above! 😎✌🏽
skycedi have you visited your mom's hometown/village? i'm a former army brat and soldier, but the last time i was stationed back in Korea i went back by myself, and i'm really glad i did-just a thought?
I love Mukbangs! All the above, and I can't wait for the apatment tour. I'm so excited for you. I think Syvia B suggesstion of revisiting your Mom's hometown would be nice too. Street food compare to resturants. Shopping and what it's it like for a mixed race to be in Korea. How do people treat you? The cultral shock of livinging Korea. Also you have a beautiful smile and very articulate when you speak. Can't wait for more videos from you.
skycedi All of the above!!! Your videos are visually incredible. I’m learning sooo much!!! Thank you!
Just bring us along when you go out to eat, party, also anything that hasn't been covered. Also can you cover the Dream path in Jinhae, Korea? Is it near you it's so beautiful.
1. Interaction with the students, if your school allows 2. Collaboration with 미국 친구 Alex
I've been watching Megan Bowen for a few years now, so it will be interesting to see the things that you experience as a man in Korea versus a woman. So happy for you😀. I would like to see more shows on korean culture, social norms as well as korean cuisine and historical sites. 🙏
Thank you! And great feedback. I've been thinking along those lines as well so I'll be cooking up some ideas :)
Awesome! Lol I found you on HelloTalk app.

Glad you found the channel and thank you for subbing! I'm looking forward to meeting and making Korean friends. I'm making the effort now :)
Does anybody think he should link up with Megan Bowen?, she’s been in Korea for six years
Glad you made it here to Korea! In addition the all of the other topics, I would like to see some music related videos. I.E. music production, performances etc.
I can't wait to eventually show my music production side soon. Thanks for the feedback :)
that what's up in the beginning was really energetic!.lol Good luck on this new journey. Can wait to see more content!

Love your videos!
Thank you for watching!
"I have a gift for getting lost" hahah this defines my life
Spring Picnic Mukbang 🍔
haha yes! I can arrange that man. Care to join me?? 😏
Haha you think I suggested it so you could do it with someone else??? 😠

I want to see all the things! But 먹방!! I love food, too ...well as long as you don't do the ASMR style I'll watch lol
Glad things are going well and I think for most peeps getting used to the subway on that first day is always a doozie.
All of the above Cedric!

07:25 Any information on food related videos about vegan restaurants or farmers markets? Any chance of seeing the inside of your classroom/work area, even without students/colleagues?
Great questions! I'll definitely consider doing a video soon on vegan restaurants/options and farmers markets.
Even i have the same problem...i forget things like anything. Good to know that you have adjusted so well❤
YOU CAN MAKE FOOD VIDEOS AND TELL ALTERNATIVES FOR AVAILABLE FOR VEGETARIANS TOO..😅 please

LOL! Editing takes me foreverrrr haha. And yes, can't wait to link up again! 🔥
Super excited to see all different types of content. I love to see it all. Your cinematography should make it 1000x more jaw-dropping. Food is always good start though! Haha. Good luck! Hoping to see outside of Seoul. :)
Nice! Thanks for the feedback for sure. I'm excited to show different aspects of Korea. And also, outside the bounds of Seoul too :)
It's interesting but I can't wait to begin picking up on the lingo :)
Oh, and great video suggestions as well!
yeah...that's the hardest part when you wanna open your account or get your own phone...especially the forms they give you are in Korean and you are lost where to write what.....all the best man.
hahaha exactly! It made me realize that I need to challenge myself to getting native level fluent in Korean. Thanks for watching man!
I would love to see food vlogs and your apartment tour.🙋🏿
Awesome! Those will definitely be coming.
I want to see some videos of you and your awesome friends at the noraebang!
LOLLL it's coming up man....I think I got some crazy footage of some dude doing Soca at the Noraebang 🤣
Thank you so much for this comment and feedback :) I'll be sure to stay true to making content that I want to make!

For sure Kara! Appreciate the encouragement :) Looking forward to a great experience.
I love mukbang videos !
Hey! Hope you’re well, I was just wondering if you opted for housing allowance or you were just randomly given a place? Thanks
how do you like teaching your students so far? i remember when i first started i had such a difficult time managing my large classes and was working for the weekend. but these days i am fully enjoying work along with the play.
Oh, one more thing. I like the music. I would like to see you and your epik friends dance.
Just do you....and share! We'll appreciate it I'm sure! Enjoy and Safe travels...
Absolutely :) Thank you thank you
엄마 땅에 온 걸 환영합니다...너무 잘생겼어요...인기 만점 영어 선생님...

We want to see what you see lol. Just have fun showing us food city people whatever makes you happy to show us.. Thanks for sharing
Awesome! I'll be happy to show you life from my perspective :)
skycedi good lets go
Just found your video on RUclipsrs in Korea!!! Omg same here! I just celebrated 1month in Korea
Awesome! And congrats to both of us on one month! Hope you enjoy your time here 😬

Nice!
Vlogs-A day in your life videos.
Ohhh that's a good one - thank you :))
Fellow blackorean also trying to learn these hard words and phrases. Also the bank was set-up was hell for me lol
I would personally like to see you visit Gwangju. Do you know how few Gwangju blogs there are? Mukbangs are cool if you are a quiet chewer.... Art thou a quiet chewer?
Quiet chewer...hmmm...we may have some problems lol! But yes, a visit to Gwangju is a great idea :) I'll need to put that one in the books - looking forward to exploring that part of Korea too
What?? 😲 I live in Daejeon. Haha.
Welcome to Daejeon 🌹
OMG!!! It is a small world!!!!!!!!
haha very nice! It is a small world! And thank you for the welcome :)
It’s okay to not be fluent in Korean satori. Be ready to immerse yourself fully in the culture, be spontaneous and challenge yourself to enjoy everything! We are weaving together our live stories after all. ;)
Awesome, thank you for the comment and encouragement :)) Totally agreed.
What is like going to Korea and are you planning to learn Korean?
I have a decent base of Korean that I plan to build on - I plan to really make myself speak Korean every chance I get (which has always been the missing piece). I'll also use online resources to help! As far as what it's like coming to Korea ...for me, it's a fulfillment of something I've always wanted to do. It's exciting for me to be in the place where my mom grew up to explore this part of my heritage on a deeper level.
Explore the city with wht it got best to offer you are the Eye of your Viewers # Merci comme le chocolat !
Absolutely! Will do :)
Vs. remercie !
I love your videos I mis it
