When checking you battery, it should read between 12.8 and 13.2 volts. If your battery is reading 12volts, it needs charging or replacing. This is due to a 12 volt battery having 6x2.2volt cells. They are rounded down to 2volts each but your actual reading on the multimeter should be a lot higher than 12
