One of the things I appreciate about Victorian fashion is that one is so often expected to wear or carry a legit weapon. Whip, mallet, bow and arrow?, stick, etc. lol.

I would suggest a short lectures on "Victorian manners", "the language of flowers", "using hand tools", "cooking over wood". The non-costume lectures might interest men and the general public.

I love to see all of these outfits in action. I particullary enjoyed seeing that 1830s plaid dress again. It might be silly, but I think you really light up whenever you wear it. About the festival, at least from what I see, It looks like the attendees put more effort than the organization on it. I mean, if it wasn't for all of you, dressing up etc, there wouldn't be much of festival. I don't know, maybe I'm too harsh, but I think that in order the festival to be successful that should change.

I think the swiss dot outfit is one of my favorites that you have ever made. Ive used that bodice pattern for an 1890s Howls Moving Castle cosplay but plan to make an outfit based off of yours and the Waiting by the Fountain painting.
I hope the hem held up in the rain. The umbrella was so cute.

Wonderful video! Every outfit you wore was divine. Honestly, 1830s generally isn’t my favorite decade for me personally because it’s so feminine and frilly, but it suits you very well. I love the bold patterns and color choices you use in your costumes. That pink and green plaid is so lovely and that bright pink on your second ball gown is stunning. I really love that archery dress too! I agree with all the others that everyone looked wonderful. Some seriously amazing costumes were on display. We have a Dickens thing in Galveston, Texas the first week of December. It’s far enough away from Houston to require a hotel stay and it’s expensive. As a disabled person on a limited budget I’ve never attended, but should the circumstances ever enable it, I’ll definitely go. Thank you so much for taking us along with you. I really appreciate the window into such a wonderful event. Take care.

Loved your outfits, but I always do! and good to see Daisy Victoria there too, always great to get together with likeminded people. I used to live in Rochester (UK) where there would be a Dickens weekend, now I live in Devon too far for a one day event/ Was great to see some of the Iconic Dickens characters walking the cobbled streets..

Having never been, I was wondering what there was to do at the festival. I assumed that there was a sutler's row like at Civil War events, and would have been disappointed. In the San Francisco Bay area there are the PEERS dances and my understanding is that they do a "lesson" session before their events which seems like a great idea to me.
Regardless, you really looked marvelous and I bet seeing you and your friends in period attire helped make the festival for other attendees. A few workshops on getting started in making or just wearing period attire prior to the festival would probably go over well.

I love your outfits! So classy, elegant, and lovely! And I agree, the ratio of ladies to gents is always so skewed. The two main reasons I don't go to events is because I have no one to go with, but also there are no opportunities to meet like-minded gents. Also, you provided amazing ideas for the next festivals!

I don’t know if you’re aware but Fort Vancouver down in the Portland area is a recreation of the 1830s 40s version of its existence. There’s the Chief Factor’s residence that’s furnished in the period and I know that they have volunteers who come and dress in appropriate outfits. I wonder if you might connect up with them some time?

Rebecca 🎉 you know what people need when they are attending a Victorian festival. Have you thought about doing something like this yourself? I know it would take so much time and resources to do something like this, but it is something to think about. I’m sure some of your friends agree with everything you were saying. I live in Tucson and there is a place called Trail Dust town that used to be very old west Victorian days and it has fallen by the way side with commercial stuff. I wish something could be done here to bring it all back. Yes I am old so I do have a lot of memories of what this town used to be.

Went to a Victorian mansion here recently for an open day where they had a woman doing the "How to dress like a Victorian woman" thing... surprisingly, not too much incorrect information was given. They also had a whole lot of historical underwear on display in the rooms of the mansion, but sadly, the tour guides didn't know much correct info about what was on display - i had to explain survivor bias to another person on the tour when they commented on how small the chemises and corsets were.

I actually have a whole video about packing for Costume College, which would be applicable to packing for any costumed event you're flying to. Beyond that, something to keep in mind for Port Townsend is that it's about 2.5- 3 hours from the airport, so if there's a group of you coming together, it might be best to split the cost of a car rental.
