Dont want to throw spoilers at ya, but just want to correct your thinking a bit.
Ruby's Mom has allegedly died (thus the gravesite from the trailer), and Yang's Mom is still alive, and where Yang is desperately looking for her.
Qrow is both Ruby and Yang's Uncle, and the brother of Yang's Mom.
So... Ruby and Yang have the same father, but different mothers. And BOTH were in that picture Qrow showed the girls.
