Good ideas and tricks; thanks... i carry some of those makeup removal pads stuffed with a little vaseline and then sealed in melted candle wax. Great way to light a fire when circumstances allow. Cheers & thanks for the vid.
Thanks! I appreciate your watching 😊 yes I sell those fire lighters on my eBay shop i use a paraffin wax which burns a little better than standard candle wax. Best wishes my friend 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Great video brother always love these types of videos. RUclips used to be full of people just trying to help each other. Nowadays it appears most sites are commercials for overpriced kit nobody needs to begin with. 😊
Definitely like, and will use, that pre heat trick. I only use the Esbit version of the Trangia burner ( I even sold the original Trangia burner that came with my new Trangia 27 kit) which comes with the fold out handle on the outer lid, so don’t really need the magnet trick. Great video though.
Hello again mate! Good to hear from you again! We’re doing ok thank you 😊👍🏻 glad you liked the video. Thanks for dropping by again. Hope you both are doing well too sending you very best wishes 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Hey Andy great to see you! I was wondering how you were doing, but didn't want to bother you too much. Those were some great tips, I especially liked your use of a magnet. It's funny you showed that because I always keep a small magnet in my kit, but never thought of using it on my Trangia stove. Again, great to see you my friend and hope to see more vids soon. 👍🇺🇲🏴👍
Thank you my friend! You would never “bother “ me, I appreciate your friendship and it’s a pleasure to be contacted anytime. Glad you found it useful and thank you for your continued support 👍🏻👍🏻😎 best wishes my friend 👍🏻
Brilliant mate, some great ideas, I've used one of these stoves for year's, I paid £12 for a genuine stainless steel Swedish army mess kit many moons ago, I ended up selling for a nice profit a few years back but I still use the trangia burners quite often cracken bits of kit.👍🏻
Nice! Yeah I’m a fan of them especially after winter as I like how quiet they are! Don’t get the raw of a gas stove. Thanks as always my mate 👍🏻👍🏻😎 best wishes mucker
Some handy tips but I need to caution you about using the PTFE tape on the burner, that tape will emit a poisonous gas when it burns, if i recall correctly the fumes are similar to phosgene gas.
Thanks! yes the PTFE will emit fumes if exposed to heat over 300 C the body of the stove doesn’t get that hot and it is usually used outdoors or in a well ventilated area anyway, I’ve never had any issues but it is worth considering if you’re concerned about it 👍🏻👍🏻😎 best wishes friend
I've got a tip. I do a bit of distilling and the "heads" are discarded because they contain methanol and are unfit to drink. However they make great fuel for the alcohol stove! Nothing goes to waste on the farm! Enjoy the great outdoors my friends.
I use insulting tape on leaky threads on bottles. The one thing I like about your pot stand is it guards against accidental knocking over the stove and setting fire to a woods. Great info . 👍🏼
Top Tip: Place a teaspoon of water into your burner before lighting it. This will significantly reduce the amount of carbon deposited on the outside your cooking pot.
I suspect many people wouldn't know what PTFE stands for without looking it up, but it is one of those things that has stuck in my mind for many years after using blocks of it for bearings.
the magnet is a great tip! Do you have any tips on how to make the lid on the simmer ring slightly looser? When cooking i sometimes just want to dampen the flame a little and need to turn the lid so there's a smaller gap but the lid is way too tight and it's awkward to turn when the stove is hot. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you liked it 😊 I usually just spend a while working the lid back and forth with a little oil until it loosens up it’s a pain when they are stiff. I also bend the little tab a bit so it doesn’t grip as tight. Best wishes my friend 👍🏻👍🏻😎
@MadDogSurvival forgot to mention, love the magnet tip. I attach my sak on my jeans with a fishing magnet. Usefull when taking the lids of cans when I use the tin opener, never thought to use it for stove.....every days a school day, even at 59

The magnet tip was excellent, but putting the tent pegs INSIDE the stove for hard ground... 🤯! Never seen this anywhere before nor would I have thought of it!!

@MadDogSurvival That's hilarious.😆😆
I used to sell it in sheets.
Great video, thanks. Will the PTFE not melt?
@@etiennesprangers1953 The melting point of PTFE is 327 Celsius

Good drills my friend 👍🏻👍🏻😎

Mmm! 🤔 … 🤣🤣thanks again my mate 👍🏻👍🏻😎
I thought the ptfe tape would melt if you light the burner . ?
No it’s heat resistant mate
@@MadDogSurvival
OK, thanks for the clarification.
Honestly, the simplest pot stand is just three rocks arranged around the outside of the stove. Although I personally hate Trangia after one of their aluminum “Storm Cookers” MELTED and almost caused a forest fire in moderate wind here in the PNW. I think those cookers are utter garbage although I still have one of the stoves.
Yep if you find something that’s the right size/height or even have rocks around at all….. the only way it would melt is if it was allowed to cook dry in which case is operator error. FYI, these do not burn at high elevation. I live at 7,000' and it works fine at home, when I go to the mtn's, 8'000' and above there is not enough oxygen for the venturi's to work properly. The alcohol barely burns. Time for the Jetboil.
Yes exactly! As long as you’re jetboil is using propane biased gas too 👍🏻👍🏻😎 best wishes my friend
That's interesting to read. Here I deal in metres so little problem at similar 2200m and used it at 2500+ with no noticeable problems. I won't be doing that height again until summer next. But what seasons are you referring to? Is it a factor?
