Tom is one of the nicest and most humble guys you'll ever meet. We've been good friends for 40+ years, and I still learn interesting things about him. He gave me my first-ever ride in a Cobra, back when I was in college and he didn't know me from Adam. I just happened to ask. That ride remains indelibly etched into my memory, and still ranks as one of the greatest days of my life. It also launched me on a lifelong career in automotive magazine writing. Thanks, my friend.
It's amazing what goes into making all the things you don't think about but important to the image and overall look of a beast! By far one of most well known emblems.
Tom is too modest saying nothing about his racing exploits or his great car collection (which you can see in the background). Great video, thanks Petersen!
IN THE FUTURE I WANT TO READ CARROLL SHELBYS BOOK. AND CONTINUE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HIM. I LOVE AND RESPECT HIM SO MUCH!!!!! AS WELL AS LEARN MORE ABOUT MR PETERSEN!!!! WHOM I LOVE AND RESPECT ALSO!!! I AM GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL TO HAVE THESE HOT ROD ICONS AS ROLE MODELS FOR ME AND MANY OTHERS!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU GUYS ARE SUCH A BLESSING!!!!
The snake was the coolest in the 60s, and still is. I lived in Livonia Michigan, we rode our sting rays every where. We didn't have much money so we picked junk. One day 1969 we were picking junk at this place that always had cool mustangs and Shelbys and in the dumpster was a pile of pegboard and on the board was the coolest thing the SNAKE !! There was a few other emblems too,so we got all of the stuff. I made a plate a put the cobra on my bike, then I had it on my mini bike. Well I still have it on the front of my toolbox. My little Cobra!!!
Absolutely incredible story!! Thank you for taking the time to interview Tom, and getting his story to film!
Glad you enjoyed it!
