    *Note- Covers 1987-1996 F-150 & 1997 F250/F-350+ Trucks
    ** Equus 3145 Code Reader is useable for Ford, Lincoln & Mercury Cars/Trucks from 1981-1996
    327-EVT/EPT circuit below minimum voltage
    522-Vehicle not in Park/Neutral during KOEO test*
    542-Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit fault
    *My Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) is crossed over/disabled, so the computer doesn't recognize whether the shifter is out of gear, or in a gear selection.

    You can't always go by those books. If you get vacuum at the EGR at idle, replace the charcoal canister purge valve. If you get oxygen sensor running rich codes, replace the MAP sensor. The CTS can cause rich mixtures.

    Just a note. The fast flickering that you noted on the screen are what Ford calls "fast codes". They are exactly the same as the pulses that you can count but a lot faster. Ford had a factory tester that would read these codes so that you would not have to wait for the output of the blinking light.

    code 542 is a Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit Failure. THat means that the engine computer is seeing more resistance in the fuel pump circuit then it wants. This normally means a fuel pump and / or a fuel pump relay.

      kb3svj The booklet that comes with the Equus code reader has a complete listing of codes in the back;
      Alternatively, you can simply google the make, model, year and trouble code and it generally gives a good answer.
      Ford codes generally are grouped together in designations based on the first number of the code.
      Say an electrical issue is code 529, all codes electrical related will be in the 500-599 range of numbers.

    Thanks for the video, I tried both methods on my 1990 ford f250 efi 5.8 L engine...and got the same readings. I was originally having issues with stalling during idle.
    Ist one was code (11) meaning system pass, ...however I than got code (63)TP circuit below minimum voltage, and code (67) neutral drive switch open/AC on, or /MPL sensor out of range. I know my AC is not working anyways...and I never use it.
    Any idea why I would get code pass (11) if these other codes appear afterwards ?

    I have a 97' F350 7.5, and it is still OBD 1, a friend has a 97' F250 7.5 and it is also still an OBD 1. He had a check engine light on and we search for the OBD 2 connector all over under the dash, until we found the OBD 1 connector under the hood. Looking at mine it is the same thing. I guess on some Ford F series OBD 1 was used into 97.

Get the battery Pak to check codes away from the vehicle. It also has Data testing to check oxygen sensors and MAF, IAC, TPS, fuel trim, charging system voltage, oil pressure, open or closed loop test, solenoid and relay test, EGR testing for exhaust flow and MORE!!
