I'm so glad to find someone who is down to earth and isn't afraid to show his "bloopers"! Thanks for the tip. I didn't know you could fuse sterling. I've always been told it has to be fine silver.
NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE BUT I'M SO BORED WITH THE SOUTHWESTERN SILVER STUFF...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE INDIVIDUALISM AND ARTISTICNESS OF THIS JEWELRY...I WAS GETTING DEPRESSED LOOKING BUT NOW I'VE FOUND YOU! 💚
Just discovered you and mighty glad I did. Thanks for including the "didn't go as planned' at the end. Your out-takes made me laugh but more importantly they help all us beginners hang in there when we do the same. Love your work! More please!
I am so glad to see you are human!!! I always thought you walked on water!!! This was awesome, Robert. I can't wait to see what else you are going to do!!
Thank you! So appreciate you sharing your technique, but even more, I appreciate the "bloopers"...makes me feel SO much better about my "melt downs"!!!
Thank you so much! I couldnt believe it that it looked so easy when you fused it perfectly in the video! Then laughed sooo hard at the bloopers. Thanks for sharing all that.
I am so happy to have found you here!...I have been a huge fan of your work since you came on the scene years ago...we met in Tuscon via SLK (i am sure you don't remember), and I was so shy and nervous...it's nice to see you on a personal level as i was never able to take a workshop with you this platform seems terrific!...blessings to you and your journey!
I’m not sure if I remember you due to the tenny tiny profile pic of you on RUclips. I have seen people fuse with traditional Sterling but it looked a bit rougher. However recently I found Nichole Ringold and I think she fuses fantastically with Sterling.
thank you for showing that you can melt metal too... I thought it was just me not being good enough. I have to keep trying. awesome! I love the technic.
AWESOME! A star is born! "You so good" The bloopers had me laughing out loud!!!! "You crazy" Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the next one! Say hi to Jessica....
Thanks Robert for sharing your skill. And also filming this Video.🤗👍 It Turner out really well. Was bit funny to watch the bits that didnt work out at the end of the video. Its not easy.👐 Would be great to learn direkt from you. Could you tell in which Country you live? When Not a secret.😄
So much more of an honest expectation seeing that. If I had only seen the perfect cut, I wouldn't have known all the things that could go wrong and would have thought it was only me...and gotten discouraged. I love it, keep doing that!
I just found your video on making a silver cuff. You may not see this ? Gonna leave this anyway. I am a new silversmith. I greatly appreciate your transparency on this video. It is so nice to see that I am not the only person who melts or screws shit up. There are times my husband comes into my studio, in fear I might add, because I am screaming “F” bombs at my work. He can’t understand why I love it so much and get so pissed. I explain it is just like him and golf! Question? Why does the metal fracture? That I haven’t seen before. Also why does the solder not flow at times. I have read, watched and practiced. Same technique but it just won’t freaking work some days. Thanks.
Thanks. We all make mistakes from time to time, I just made few extra during the filming of this project and I thought it would be cool to show them. As for your questions, 1. I’m not exactly sure why it shatters. I do know that it does shatter when you apply pressure to Argentium Sterling silver when it is heated to a certain temp. It is only fragile like that while it’s hot. 2. Solder not flowing could be from several different reasons a. Not enough heat. b. People trying to heat the solder to melt it and not heating the metal to melt the solder. c. Dirty silver d. Lack of flux e. Poor contact of metal connections f. Poor contact of solder to seams g. Dirty solder. (This one is the one that got me for years) I now buy wire solder, and wipe it clean before I cut off apiece to use. I wipe it a few times with a ScotchBrite scouring pad. Game changer for me.
@@RobertLopezDesigns Thank you so much for your reply. I went back to the basics and my reference book. Your point is correct. I think my solder is dirty and not enough heat. Plus practice, practice & more practice. This is a hobby with the hopes of selling enough to pay for more supplies. Again thanks for taking time to help me out. All the best.
Hey, Robert! Melodie here using hubby's account. Now that was great! Go ahead and cuss. It'll make it easier if you don't have to worry about that! Great job and thanks for sharing the bloopers so we know you are human! :-)
What is the center sheet you are using in this video? Will silver sheet work with this method or should it be titanium WIRE AND SHEET? Great job and give us more videos!
Your work is gorgeous. Have you considered making sterling silver beer steins? Nothing too fancy but made out of silver that can actually be used on a daily basis? May I have your website ? Thank you
Great video Robert! I work with sterling, so I'm curious about why the Argentium got brittle to the point where you can just break it up into pieces. Is this something inherent to Argentium?
Definitely appreciate the video man I thought you had to Flux all silver before it could join ..also love you added your mistakes haha even professionals mess up XD
Thoroughly enjoyed your tutorial! 🤗 You’ve inspired me! Thank you for sharing. I’m curious, what technique do you use to join the ends? Do you solder or fuse them together? I’ve always wondered how to join the ends of a textured piece without losing the texture from having to file🤔
Mr. Lopez, will you be doing any more videos for fusing argentium? I saw your first video where you said you were going to show us the process and then nothing! This is an area I would like to know a lot more about because fusing argentium is actually very different than fusing fine silver… at least it has been for me! Argentium is not as forgiving as the fine silver.. and when hot it’s so brittle that you run a bigger risk of damaging your piece. Are you planning to finish the fusing with Argentium series? Soon?
@@christineharris8413 could you tell me the name of the video you are referring to please.? I do plan on making more videos, some RUclips shorts and some long instructional videos that would be for sale on Podia. I currently have three instructional on Podia that can be purchased. I believe I have a RUclips video that talks about them.
@@RobertLopezDesigns Thank you for responding. So funny I was just looking at your tools on your website!! I am in LOVE with the Stinger!! I most definitely will be placing an order soon. I have to save a bit but I WILL be ordering!!! Thanks for all you do and share with us!!
okay Robert, you got me, i subscribed. are you using argenteum sterling in this video and in general with your technique? will it work with fine silver as well? i get so much firescale with regular sterling and with all the heat you are using id bet you must as well. perhaps i need to skip the sterling silver.
Hi Robert Joseph Lopez here, it’s great I found your video, l have a question for you what metals can you fuse with and can you fuse mixed metals? I’m new to this but willing to learn, can you help me silver smithing?
Can you tell me if I can use a Big Shot Blazer GT 8000 torch to achieve the same results with this method? Thank you, P.S. I love your videos & your beautiful jewelry! 💖
Your work is so artistic and beautiful. Thank you for being a great teacher and inspiration.
Love the bloopers. Nice to know I'm not the only one making silver blobs.
OMG, that was absolutely amazing! Thank you for showing it all.... the good, the bad and the ugly. I enjoyed it all immensely.
Thank you. We all hit bumps in the road; might as well let everyone else know where that bump is so maybe they can try to avoid it.
Actually, showing people what can go wrong is a great teaching tool. What would be great is telling us why you think it went wrong.
I'm so glad to find someone who is down to earth and isn't afraid to show his "bloopers"! Thanks for the tip. I didn't know you could fuse sterling. I've always been told it has to be fine silver.
Thank you so much for the outtakes…I hate my failures and often don’t try new things for fear of it. It helps so much seeing a master screw up too😉

Thanks, I will be getting back into my art and will probably make more videos soon.

Great video and amazing craftsmanship!
Your the best Robert! Love that you showed screw ups!
Thanks for this helpful video. I haven't tried fusing, now I will. Subscribed 👍

What made that attempt fail? What flux do you use? Gorgeous work and you are so calm and relaxed. Just a joy to watch you work!❤
You told us over and over and over and over what you do!!!
FANTASTIC video! Fantastic technique! Fantastic studio! Thank you for going through the trials and tribulations to teach us something this great!
Love that Guano Loco sign.

You did a great job.
What a great video and techhnique! The bloopers are a fun look at the process. Thanks!
Fusing is done without solder? Wow, that's a great technique!
Awesome video, great technique and loved the whole thing! You made my day. And now I want to try fusing more

Cool. Can't wait to buy a class

Nice pieces!

I totally agree, Robert is one of the best!
Wow that was super cool!!

I really like your video brother
What a great technique. Superb vid and the outtakes had me rolling. You make the work and filming look so easy.
Great film
Thanks for sharing this!! You are right on brother. Really cool!!
You got a cool style! Definitely distinct. Thanks the out takes bro!
What is the center sheet you are using in this video? Will silver sheet work with this method or should it be titanium WIRE AND SHEET? Great job and give us more videos!
Mind blown. Just bought a bunch of Argentium and I'm going to have to flip my brick over to a fresh side and try this.
Great video, Robert. Il’m looking forward to playing with the tools I ordered!
Great video, as a newbie this technique was a bit of a revelation! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing this! Does this work with .925 sterling, or just Argentium and fine silver?
Thank you, great time saving technique. Looking forward to more.
Did you use solder?
Your work is gorgeous. Have you considered making sterling silver beer steins? Nothing too fancy but made out of silver that can actually be used on a daily basis? May I have your website ? Thank you
No, never considered anything that large.

I fuse platinum ! the only way to solder it . Thank you !

Amazing stuff 👏 what flux and solder did you use ?
My-T-Flux, no solder. It’s fused silver to silver.

Can this be done with sterling or only fine silver? Love your work!!! Really would love to learn from you!!

Amazing. Did I missed it? You didn’t put any kind of soldering paste or anything? Wire just kind of melted into the sheet?
Awesome technique
