OK, not having one of these engines, there are a few things I don't know. Where the wire goes into the ignitor, what is the purpose of the rod rotating the rod that goes in beside the ignitor? At 8:21 in the video it shows what I am referring to up close. Thanks!

I like the natural iron colored grey on this one. Is that the raw iron, or is it painted or perchance treated with stove-blacking?

Beautiful engine. I have a question that I have never heard addressed by ShopdogSam. Why is there no air filtration and why was it felt that it was unnecessary considering the harsh environments where these machines operated?

hey Sam, what is that ratchet noise during the intake stroke?

It's the intake valve chattering when it is sucking in fuel and air, the intake valve is actuated by the piston dragging back and sucking it open, it basically acts like a noisey check valve.

Those 8 frame hives are definitely easier on the back compared to 10 frame. Hope you get some honey!
Do you sell any of the engines you rebuild? I've been looking for a type M running or almost-running..
