My stump story: One of the lakes I fish regularly is a shallow, stump filled body of water in Central Arkansas. For a long time, people made T's out of rebar that that they would drive into the top of the stumps and tie a yo-yo on each side. As the years went on, these rebar pieces rusted off right at or below the water line. I was motoring along in my 14 ft flat bottom and ran up on a stump, which was definitely not uncommon. What was uncommon is that I couldn't get off of it. I tried rocking, going backwards, forwards, etc. Nothing. Finally I noticed the plywood floor in the bottom of my boat was pushing up. I had run up on a stump with a piece of rebar left in it, and it had pierced the bottom of my boat and locked me onto that stump. The graph showed I was in 4 ft of water, so all I knew to do was go swimming. I jumped out, grabbed the front of my boat, lifted it off of the stump and rebar, then walked it over to more shallow water so I could get back in the boat. All the while, the new 1/2" diameter hole in the bottom of my boat was letting in generous amounts of water. I had to go slow heading in or risk ruining my lower unit on one of the 10,000 other submerged stumps. It was a long ride back. I didn't have a bilge pump on that little boat, and the milk jug scooper I had used in the past to bail water was nowhere to be found. I could not even do the trick where you pull the plug then gun it to "suck" the bilge water out, again for fear a ramming another stump. So I just idled and prayed. By the time I got to the ramp, the rear of my little jon boat was 2" from going under, and my gas tank was floating well above the transom. I think 5-10 more minutes of motoring and I would have been swimming (or probably wading in that lake) to the ramp.

I hear you on stumps. Lake Rousseau in Florida is my favorite fishing hole but it’s got more stumps than you can shake a stick at.
Any kind of breeze and you can not see them. My MinnKota Ultrex has taken a beating on that lake

I cannot agree more on fishing lakes full of stumps! I just come off a lake that was more wood than water. I was doing okay until I saw that big old 10 foot gator sliding off the bank coming at my little boat. Old Lowbrow said nope! I pulled the motor up and put her on the truck.

Man I know this has been commented before but they need to do something and replace all the marshals that just can't seem to move quick enough to get out of the way! It's more times than not you see the slow motion or grunting as they trickle like molasses out of their seats, hahaha.. Maybe it's all they have to use, but it drives me crazy!

I used to think the same thing but man I've fished with several dudes that had it in their boat and guess what... It don't put fish in the boat. Only thing it really helps to do to is to help you decide where not to fish. If there's no activity.
