problem: i got the atwood 8535-1 furnace. got the dinosaur Fan 50 control board but the plug wires don't match up. fits fine but one wire has no contact when plugged into dinosaur. original has pwr, v1, s1, & gnd. the s1 doesnt go anywhere on dinosaur board. everything else matches. thats the flame sensor. i can move the pin but only thing left is "NC"? my furnace thermostat grounds the circuit & also i have time delay relay so i dont think i use the t-stat pin on the dinosaur board. also i thought if i used the dinosaur board i would NOT need to have the time-delay relay anymore. thats what i read online. cant find any info & Dinosaur ele has NO phone #.
Hi Dj Darren. The connector for your old furnace should plug right into your new Dinosaur board and function properly without moving any pins around. The dinosuar board is a universal board, so some of the names of the connections have been "universalized" I guess you can say, but they do the same thing. "PWR" goes to "Ground", "V1" goes to "NC", "S1" goes to "T-Stat", and "GND" goes to "Air/Sail". I realise this is confusing, but if you look at the way your furnace is wired up, you'll realise that the sail switch - located behind your fan shroud - is grounded to the chassis of your old furncace, so they call this "GND" on your old board, but it is essentially hooked up to the sail switch. On the Dinosuar board they actually lebell this as "Air/Sail", so don't worry, its the same thing. The PWR and Ground thing is a bit confusing to but that is the way its hooked up. Your comment on the fan delay...there is a tiddlywink relay that heats itself up when your thermostat is turned on, this is an independant component that is separate from your ignitor board, that is a feature that you cannot choose to bypass with the board. The fan will turn on after a 10-15 seconds of turning your thermostat on, no matter what kind of board you have in there. Hope that helps

My 89 8531-II exhaust tube will not budge, i removed the wing nut and washer, but i cannot get it to pull out, I took a flashlight, looked inside and it looks like there is a metal piece sticking ip through the tube on the bottom! Is that part of the back wall of the heat exchanger compartment or is it from the outer tube connecting to the inner tube? I have to remove it in order to pull the inducer draft blower wheel off the motor shaft cause the motor went!
No thats true, but one other thing I forgot to add though about the Atwood furnace is that the mounting to the outside of the RV, and the method to which it exchanges air with the outside environment I find much better on the Atwood, either way, as long as your warm, that's all that counts !

I'll have a look today at what your talking about, I have a spare furnace in my basement.
Hey man to replace the limit switch on the newer 8531-111 do you have to remove the whole furnace from the rv to get to it ?
Atwood discontinued the metal fan, however due to customer complaints, they now offer the metal fans again👍
Good to know David, yeah I have heard a whole slew of bad things about the plastic fans, good to know that they offer the metal ones again.
atwood is now dometic, you can get parts for the 8500 series but they don't make that furnace any more

Maybe better but my 83 suburban limit switch was just behind the cover, that one in the attwood you have to remove everything to get to it.
