I think it’s also important to allow ourselves to be in a slump, without forcing ourselves to read. Sometimes that can be a good thing. At the end of the day, we read bc we genuinely enjoy it.
For me the biggest challenge has been finishing a book. This past month I’ve been reading only 30%-50% of a book and then I get tired of them. So, my personal goal at the moment is to actually finish a book, regardless of how long it will take
yes, unless the slump is because you are mindlessly sucked in scrolling your phone. Addiction can make you lose track of time and most importantly interest on what you like.
If you are not invested in what you are reading and/or busy in other thing that is 1000% ok
And I know exactly what you mean about WANTING to read a book.....like when I am at work and can't wait to get home to read....that is the BEST FEELING ☺️

Rereading always helps me out of a slump, like a book you can't remember all the details to but you remember that you've loved it before. Then I read similar books and the slumps gone

I think it’s tough these days with booktok. There’s is expectation to read soooo many books monthly that I can see why people getting into these so called slumps. When really reading only a few books or a couple a month should be normal. Maybe it’s just me that thinks that. Don’t beat yourself up too much. Sometimes after you read so much, giving yourself a break is necessary. When reading becomes more of work versus enjoying it that’s when the fun is taken out of it.

Everytime I get into a reading slump, I watch booktuber videos like yours, Haley's, Destiny's and a bunch of Fantasy booktubers cause I love fantasy. Also if Im in the middle of a long book and stop reading for a while, I watch spoiler-free reviews to get back into the rhythm of finishing it.

I had been in a reading slump for about 2 months. It was partly because of the book i finished previously, but a lot was going on in my life. And instead of pushing myself to read something else, i just let myself not read. Reading is supposed to be enjoyable, and at the time it wasnt, it was tasking. A few days ago i was really bored, so i picked one up, and I’m back to enjoying them again! But this go around, I’m actually going to read for enjoyment only. Instead of saying,”I’m going to read this, this, and this, in x amount of time.” I’m reading whatever I want, when i want! Which i dont know why i didnt before, but i am now!

i love using flora to help me read, clean, study, etc. something about the plant dying just does something to my brain, it doesnt work all time bc i still end up going on my phone 😔 but it’s definitely been helping

Some german bookstagrammers do live readings on Instagram sometimes. They go live (either alone or with someone else) and they set a timer, e.g. 25 or 50 mins, everyone reads together and then they do breaks where they answer questions and just chat with the others who are online. It's super fun! I love it because it gives me this community feeling of reading together. Maybe it would be a possibility for you as well sometimes? Especially if it helps you, too. :)

I read 18 books in January, but have barley read 10 books in each month of February and March. I probably haven’t even read that much… just busy with life. But got Six of Crows, Once Upon a Broken Heart and Shatter Me this past weekend for my birthday🥰🤍 I finished Shatter Me which I loved!

I've been in a reading slump due to anxiety and mainly I don't want to taint books with those feelings. So like if I read something now, later when I think of it I'll associate it with the feelings that I was feeling around that time. I do it with music too.
It's not super serious, I just had to buy a car since mine was on its last legs. So I'm sad about trading in mine (regardless of how broken it was and how much I complained). And then I'm anxious over having a new car payment that's a lot more than my last.
So I'm glad I reached march monthly goal of 10 books early...
What i do during book slumps is revisit my favorite book. I have two from middle school that i love dearly and relate to. Ive read them so much its nearly torn but i dont have the heart to replace them. I only read them now for book slumps and i find that 90% of the time it works.
when i’m in a reading slump i usually pick up a fast thriller, i definitely recommend freida mcfadden!!!
