Sand can cause impactions and rupture their insides. Instead, use paper towels, regular towels, or fake grass carpeting. -FEED THEM OUTSIDE THEIR CAGE AND MAKE SURE SURROUNDING AREA IS QUIET. Feeding them inside the cage will make them think anything that walks inside their cage is food, making them more likely to bite. Also the quiet will make them better to strike. -DO NOT BE ALARMED IF THEY ACT MOODY. This usually happens when the snake is going through a shed, and its perfectly natural. just be sure to spray it with water every now and then along with letting it soak in a water dish and they'll be good. -LOCK THE TOP OF THE CAGE AND OR CAGE DOOR. Snakes are good escape artists, and can get into places you cant. They'll get out quickly and easily if you do not properly secure a cage, so please heavily lock the top or door of a cage closed. -Just a side note, Snakes go through what herpetologists call Bramation, which is basically a reptile's hibernation. So if they start eating less and cuddling in warm areas more in October - March or even April months, do not be alarmed. -Please also know that a moss bin would be a good addition for extra ways of getting shed off. Hedgehogs are cute and all but require a lot of work and you have to constantly be there for them. Especially if you're just now buying them. They need to know your scent. Not all hedgehogs are going to be nice and friendly, some are grumpy or aggressive. So it's really up to you guys if you are willing to take good care of a hedgehog. Trust me. It's a lot of work.
