This is one of the most popular compositions of Annamacharya which has been immortalised by the rendering of my Great Grandmother Smt. M.S.Subbulakshmi and my Grandmother Dr.Radha Viswanathan.
In this song the poet assumes and transforms himself into Yasoda and sing this lullaby to Baalakrishna teasing the Lord as a thief who steals butter from all the houses even though he is offered milk in a golden bowl in his own house.
Background to this recording:
After our concert at Sri PrasannaVenkateshwara Swami Temple, Memphis, Tennessee, US on May 5 th , 2018, my sister S Saundarya
and I were requested to sing a “Laali” song in front of the Deity by the temple management for “Ekaantha Seva”.
We both sang “Jo Achyutananda” without any accompaniments and with only Tambura Shruthi. The temple committee then requested us to send a recording of this wonderful composition just as we had sung in the “Sanctum Sanctorum” so that they could play this for Bhagawan Balaji daily at night for “Ekaantha Seva”. And therefore, this recording which you will hear is with Tambura Shruthi only. The tambura being played in the video is the “Lakshmi” Tambura of my Great Grandmother and Grandmother which they had used in innumerable concerts in India and abroad. (along with the other Tambura “Saraswathi”)
On this 102 nd birthday, this composition is our humble offering by both of us to the memory of our Great Grand Mother Bharat Ratna

S.Aishwarya & S.Saundarya are the Great Grand Daughters of Bharat Ratna M.S.Subbulakshmi and the Grand Daughters of Dr Radha Viswanathan and the torch bearers of the MS Legacy.
S.Aishwarya began learning Carnatic Music from her 4th year from her Great Grandmother and Grandmother. From her 4th to 6th year she also learnt from Smt Sharanya Krishna, a disciple of Smt Suguna Purushothaman. She has been under the tutelage of Karnataka Kalashree Smt Jambu Kannan for the last 16 years. She has trained under Vidwan A Shankar Raman and Vidushi Smt.B.Nagalakshmi on the Veena. Aishwarya has also been learning Hindustani Music from Pandit Nagaraj Rao Havaldar and Sri Omkar Havaldar. She is also under advanced training with Violin Maestro Vidwan V V Subrahmanyam.
S.Saundarya trains under Sangita Kala Acharya Vidushi Smt Neela Ramgopal and also learns dance (Vazhuvoorar Bani) from Smt Sumitra Nitin. Saundarya is under the tutelage of Smt Anuthama Murali (a disciple of Vidushi Sangita Kalanidhi A Kanyakumari) under whom she trains on violin & has also been learning Hindustani Vocal under Sri Omkarnath Havaldar.
It would not be an overstatement to say that the coming together of MS, Kadayanallur Venataraman and Radha Vishwanathan to make music resulted in an expansion of the boundaries of Karnatic sound. The evolution of Ramnad Krishan's music after his exposure to Brindamma's music, can also be spoken of in similar terms.
The anatomy of Venkatraman sir's music is complex. In whose imagination can Kapi sound so deep and stirring? As much as language allows me to describe, I think that plain swaras, anuswaras demanding astonishing levels of sensitivity, crisp gamakas interspersed with lightening-fast, sharp briga glimpses and a mysterious harmony between the ragam, sahityam and talam were part and parcel of his tunes. Be it the lyrically heavy Bhavamulona, the philosophically poignant Manujudai Putti or the seemingly simple-sounding Srimannarayana, intricacy is immanent in them all, including Jo Achyuthananda. To have sung a composition of such sophistication with such elegance is a fine achievement. Kudos to the sisters Aishwarya and Saundarya.
The beauty of this video lies in the fact that without resorting to the extremes of imitation and tampering, the sisters have rendered the song in their own way, proof that they have internalized the music so well, and the resultant aura is authentic.

This is a wonderful composition by annamacharya, beautifully presented by vidushi Aishwarya. This is song is sung to lord shri Venkateshwara swamy in the ekantha seva( at night when lord is made to sleep according to Vaikhanasa agamas) which is sung by descendents of annamacharya himself.🙏🏽🕉🙏🏽
