I remember a story written by Esquire about the Filipino nobles during the Spanish period such as the Conde de Manila, Conde de Jolo, Marques de Camarines, Conde de Albay, Conde de Batanes etc... but their heirs are now all Spanish citizens.
No, the counts and marquess titles during the Spanish colonial period were created for Spanish citizens who have contributed in some way in the government of the Captaincy in the Philippines. They are not Filipino nobles, but Spanish citizens given titles of nobility corresponding to Philippine places.

If in doubt, go ask a Chinese what 大孫 means. . . I studied Chinese under a Taiwanese teacher in Taiwan, then came over here to PH and studied PH history....
Simply because you saw the spelling "SON", you quickly implied it means "SON" in the english dictionary... Maybe You'd think the Chinese word 魚 (Fish, pronounced as hē) is actually the male pronoun He too.
And there is no "Son Tua" word in Mandarin nor in Minnan to refer anything about son, or grandson...

Son Tua was a full blooded Chinese immigrant that was favored by the Spanish colonialism....kung nagkataong nag monarchy sa Pinas nuon eh Chinese ang naging first ruler natin.... Pero in fairness, nkakabilib tlaga ang mindset at diskarte nila sa pagnenegosyo.

My grandmother used to be an in house seamstress of the Tuason clan. She was born on 1917 migrated to the US in the late 60s.

My lolo Celso Perez De Tagle married the late sylvia la torre most of my family from the perez de tagle side migrated mostly to the US already.
If I may so insert a correction, please. The British won and captured Manila and occupied it for 20 months. The Seven Years' War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris on 10 February 1763. At the time of the signing, the signatories were not aware that Manila had been captured by the British, and consequently, it fell under the general provision that all other lands not otherwise provided for be returned to the Spanish Crown- that is the reason why Manila was given back to the Spain and not by the Spaniards winning the war or any battles. But other than that kudos to your well researched and informative post of the Tuason family history.

Aside from the common one syllable names, they also have the three syllable names ending in -co(it varies), names ending in -son or -zon, sometimes hyphenated with spanish sounding names, and then the fully converted spanish names.

My late grandfather, Gregorio Tindugan Tuazon traced his roots to this clan but he migrated to Mindanao in 1950 taking with him 8 of his 9 children and one of them is my mother. There is more to his narrative-maramming drama, as researched by a distant relative for his masteral thesis sa Adamson University but unfortunately parang hindi natapos and we haven't heard from him anymore. In the late 50s, Pedro Tuazon, my uncle and one of his sons, received a letter from Manila , asking him to go to Manila to claim our grandfather's portion of the land na ipinamimigay ng gobierno noon. Pero, dahil sa kahirapan, hindi nakapunta and forgot about the letter. Pinagtawanan na lang nila yon. Ang lolo ko po pala ay kamukha ni Manuel L.Quezon. Wala na silang lahat including our parents. Proud and masaya na kami knowing our bloodline. Salamat sa pag-upload ng video.

@@robertoespina4939 Some of my uncles, actually, s Yong spelling Ng Tuason. Some just followed how their Elem. teachers wrote their names. It was not an issue for them naman. We just knew about the ancestry thru narratives of the ancestors & a thesis research.

A few more businesses linked to the Tuasons are Chinabank and the theaters (Capitol, etc). Binondo was their business Center. In Escolta, you can also find a Tuason section there near the entrance - Capitol, Tuason-Araneta Bldg and the old Edificio Tuason, previously Edificio Barretto - that building capture that founding history of San Miguel. A replica of that building was created in Las Casas called “Casa Escolta” 😊

My great great grandmother is Tuason and I am from Bocaue. Your description of Maysilo is inaccurate. The estates in Bocaue, Bulacan has been owned by the Catholic Church but there are land titles named for Tuasons. My grandmother told me - noon kasi kung ano narating ng kabayo mo sa iyo na ang lupa. The Tuason of Mike Arroyo has nothing to do with Maysilo in Bocaue. Our Tuason is connected to San Miguel Corporation plus our Roxas too. Thank you for explaining this. But Teddy Boy Locsin Jr will disagree with you. He said the only thing royal in the Phils is Royal Spaghetti.

Si Antonio Tuason or Son Tua ay ang kanilang ama na nagmigrate dito sa Pilipinas kasama ang kanyang asawa at dyan sa Bulacan sila nanirahan at nagkaroon sila ng 12 sons. I belong to a Santiago-Tuason Clan. Bernardina Santiago, ( wife of Don Andres Avelino) they're blessed to have an only son na si Macario Antonio S. Tuason .

Spain did not win. They have to give up some territories in order to keep the Philippines. The Spanish defeat opened the eyes of the Indios that Spain is not all powerful hence the revolts that followed.
True. The invasion of manila by the Brits was part of the Seven Year war, a geo-political conflict caused by the great European powers. In the end, Spain had to give up territory to Britain in order to keep the Philippines. Britain did not lose that war.
