No, where is What if? What did Aaron say?
Did you guys end up reacting to His Dark Material series? The one with James Mcavoy, the kid from wolverine's last film and many others.
I love how they subtly hinted at Varney being Death all season with him not having claws, not having irises, the mention of his age, and how everyone says he stinks because he literally smells like death. Also, Death said he can't kill the whole world like Dracula can and being a spirit, he can't summon an army but nothing is stopping him from killing one person
"You do not know what I am, but I tolerate you precisely because you're good at death... it, nourishes me..."
There's also scenes of Varney doing stuff normal vampires wouldn't be able to, such as when he casually hopped over running water
I just love Death's dialogue. It's the perfect combination of high art and angry D&D player. I LOVE IT.
"The animation wasn't the best."..... What?? Professional animator here. The animation is fantastic. I don't know what they're talking about. The sequence with the vampires prior to getting to Saint Germain is phenomenal.
Can't help but to think they are the same type of person who watches these videos that convert random pieces of animation to 60fps and think they are good
Yes but it's not consistent like in other seasons. It reminds me of season 3 of RWBY(although not as drastic). The difference between Monty fights and the others was jarring.
@@CC-of5xl That is called giving it all in the "climax" you talk as if the other episodes fight had bad animation but they were not, they were just not as flashy as episode 6 and 9... There is now way in hell any show would have this level of animation every episode and still the average episode looked great.
Same, pro here and my gods do that kind of people make me want to puke. Talk about ungrateful
@@CC-of5xl you're high bruh.
I am Trevor Belmont, of the House of Belmont. And dying has never frightened me.
Isn't that weirdly fucked up?
"I'm Death. You're just a human being".
It breaks my heart that Rick doesn’t like the animation this season. It’s easily the most impressive and high quality animation they’ve had
really?? I know it's pretty good for itself but comparing it other Animes, you can't really blame him for not liking certain parts of it.
I dont like it eaither. I thought the other season animation are better. Its wierd they tried to make it better but it just ends up with shots that are distorted
This is the best animation on Netflix, you can’t change my mind.
@@Masso-gy9yu it’s definitely up their with top tier anime. Just because it’s fast and smooth doesn’t make it good. Castlevania is able to have fluidity while also staying on model for the characters never allowing you to question wether something looks off or not. Especially the final fight where this isn’t a single bad shot in the entire thing
@@wisewillowgames well I’m sorry but the fluidity and overall framing is far superior to that of past seasons. It’s on a completely different level
Just in case you guys are wondering, with the sheer amount of movement in that episode. It would have cost them Disney movie money to keep everyone perfectly on model with buttery smooth framerate. There's a reason 80% of anime is kids talking in a high school classroom and 20% fight scenes.
How can you hate this animation guys? Like holy crap!?
I don't think they hate it, just that they notice that it's slightly less fluid in a few parts.
How can anyone look at this and go "bad animation"? It's amazing. The choreography of the fights scenes is top notch.
Yuuuuup. It lacks polish here and there, but it's so few moments that are barelly worth mention it. A shame this won't get a blu ray treatment, since, with anime, it's where animators polish even more the final product. But danm. DANM what a finale.
That's why I choose carefully who I subscribe to. Some people just have no taste and have horrible opinions. Castlevania is a masterpiece in character development, animation combos, and camera angles. Story line is quick and the dialogue is captivating.
"As if my day wasn't going badly enough, it's Trevor Belmont"
I was grinning like an idiot at that line
Me too!
Same
For a person who LOVES the Berserk anime with its 5 frames per second, I don't understand Rick's issue with this animation. The animation is really good and the art is gorgeous, I honestly don't understand the issues they have with this season
This animation is fantastic. I really can't fathom anyone disliking it.
I really just.... don't get what Rick is saying. I can see that the animation is less detailed, but the fluidity of it all and the fight choreography is what more than makes up for it. If anyone has any other valid criticisms, I would love to hear them but what Rick says just doesn't make any sense to me.
I mean just like anime when a scene is going for fluidity ofc the detail is gonna be less
Varney did seem like a bare bones character at first, but on a second watch, the signs were there all along.
I feel like I need to watch a second time to pick up on all the subtle hints.
This video is proof to me that you will never be able to please some people when it comes to animation. Which is why I always right off such complaints. Personally i loved this season and think it is probably the best video game adaptation to date.
It really is a good video game adaptation
Couldn't agree more. I know it's only one person's opinion, but I can't help but shake my head.
Nobody cares everyone has their opinion, the animation was generic lazy western animation
@@christianmathew398 How
@@christianmathew398 my dude, most anime has more “laziness” than western animation. But I don’t wanna even use your own term on how you describe it. It’s not that they’re lazy, it’s that they are over worked, have to be efficient as possible, have priorities of what they animate, and don’t have a budget. (Talking about anime genre, pretty sure western animation culture is different. In general ofc.)
I don't see how you guys can look at this season and think "bad animation" lol. This season was chock full of some of the best scenes the show has ever had, and is a HUGE step forward for western adult animation. Obviously you guys have your own opinions but just trying to help you see the light! Lol but seriously glad you enjoyed the ride. This show has by far been one of the best video game adaptations we have had. Can't wait to see what these guys do next.
Half of this episode has wallpaper potential
@@thetaomega7816 this entire show is wallpaper material lol 😂
MASTERPIECE
I honestly disagree with you guys about the animation this season, I think it's fantastic
I get that opinions are opinions, but those animation takes break my heart. Especially after seeing all those tweets from the directors, animators and storyboarders. Sharing animation roughs, complementing eachother and talking about how proud they are of their work.
It really be the ones who ain't animators that be yapping without fully knowing what they're saying
The animation of this season is so great!! I clearly disagree with you guys in this regard.
I was blown away by the Varney reveal, the foreshadowed so well :D
Fact he never hand long nails, the statue in the 1st episode of the season, and the fact they'd never waste Malcom Mcdowell for such a nothing role.
@@kevintravers3988 He also had different eyes from vampires, he jumped over running water instead of using the bridge, and stated Ratko’s killing nourished him.
@@acgearsandarms1343 how he said he was terrorizing London before there was a London
And he said killing nourishes him.
@@acgearsandarms1343 Yep I noticed that upon rewatching that scene.
The best animation in the whole series and Rick continually talks it down. I don’t get it.
I think they mean it's visually a bit more rough around the edges and slightly choppy in a few parts, while in earlier seasons the bigger moments were completely fluid.
@@blueblade6174 but it’s not. That’s the problem. This season is way more animated then seasons 1-3
@@locusxe1411 way more implies quantity, but they're referring to quantity.
@@blueblade6174 no they are referring to quality. You know damn well what I mean. Season 4 is easily the best animated season out of 1-3. Also way more can apply to quality as well as quantity
@@locusxe1411 if it's quality then what they were talking about were the lesser frames and rough edges.
The first episode was titled "Murder wakes it up" and the final boss was death itself
The animation bar has been set VERY high thanks to this episode. Castlevania is a masterpiece.
You guys really shouldn't talk about animation. I haven't seen a single show this, or last year with this production quality per frame. You're insulting to the amazing work of these guys at this point
( From someone who's both in animation and comic books.)
RIck would be the type of guy who would say Devilman Crybaby has bad animation .
Wow ya.
Lol
He would lol
I enjoyed the art style for Devilman but I wasn't a fan of some of the ugly cgi shots and emotionless character design on Castlevania 🤷♂️
@@noeisnothere There's no CGI in this fight I'm pretty sure
Welp it's time to wait yaboyroshi to reach this episode and actually appreciate the animation.
Same!!!!

Exactly!
theyre going to absolutely lose their minds this episode LOL
Just watched they’re reaction it was worth the wait
I think this was the best episode this season
"I think i got this wrong and people got mad at me"
* proceeds to be wrong about 3 being a remake of 1 *
in his defense, the games are a muddle and it does get a bit screwy to remember which is which
@@connorbovingdon8563 @Connor Bovingdon 1 & 3 are on the same console so his comment abouy it being a remake doesn't make sense in that aspect but whatever, simple misremembering
@@StudioWulf my point still stands tho, games are a muddle in places, it's easy to muddle and get the numbers wrong 🤷♂️
Tfw Rick still hasn't realized that Grant has already been referenced as a genderswapped Greta and that the village Danesti is also a reference to his last name, Danasty.
This episode was perfect! Everything was perfect
Varney been dropping hints all season. Plus on his shoulders. Right grim hood.. left scyth
"Sipha", it's SYpha! Still, they say her name in the show!
Next episode is gonna make me cry again...
I liked it, after the past few years filled with bitter sweet show endings it’s nice getting a full happy one.
The fact that Death can transcend realities in the infinite corridor just makes him that much more sinister. It’s not that he needed Dracula to come back to survive, he just wanted him back for the easy buffet he’d give him.
Varney: transforms
aaron: who is it?
rick: is it death?
death: i am death
rick: I THINK ITS DEATH
If you remember, in SOTN, Alucard would sprout wings for a split second when he would double jump.
So I think the main aspect of animation, especially in fight scenes is how well it conveys the movement and the weight of all the actions. And castlevania does that masterfully and has done so since the beginning. Also the fight choreography is just amazing.
Killing you was the point, living through it was just a luxury
Hum, the animation wasn't bad, quite the opposite. What you may have a problem with is shot compositions, but, you will be hard press to find it better on any show.
Bruh what are you on about regarding lazy animation... The fight had me in chills multiple times and I haaaaated the fact that you can't screenshot in Netflix because I wanted to many, many times.
I was surprised when I found out later that Malcolm McDowell voiced Death. He makes Death sound great.
First and second games were both Simon Belmont. Third game takes place way in the past before even the first game, with Trevor Belmont being an ancestor. Fourth game on the SNES I THINK was the one you're thinking of that was kinda/sorta a remake of the first game going back to Simon again. And then Richter was I think a couple of generations after Simon.
This episode is so fucking epic
Trevor vs Death is one of my fav fights this whole show I love it & it just remained me of a video game
people keep saying season 1 animation was better, Where?? How??
I think this episode is so cool, even though clearly the budget was being pushed to the limit they did so much with what they had
The whole season looks better than the rest of the show imo
@@kevinmaroney9819 Nah Season 2 with them 3 vs Dracula was insane!
This episode was the best of this season but not the best of the show in my opinion
@@SuguRakuNiShiteYaru it wasn’t for me either season 4 episode 6 is the best, watch both fights tho they really upgraded from season to season but I think it’s a preference thing cuz some people don’t like it which is crazy to me
@@kevinmaroney9819 Maybe its because I love Dracula and I'm biased cause of that.. But yeah isaac vs Carmilla was insane too
@@SuguRakuNiShiteYaru Dracula is fire and the fight is still dope but they just did something different w this last season w the fight scenes and the 3D stuff
I love how death begins a profound statement and immediately devolves it into shitpost
Death's boss battle was so awesome, so awesome!
Little too late. When Sypha and Trevor reunited with Alucard I screamed famous Polish curse. When Varney revealed himself to be Alchemist and Death I had Saint Germain's reaction.
And when it comes to fight I was amazed about how beautiful this animation had become.
Truly the best episode in entire series.
In Castlevania Symphony of the Night, there is a relic called Leap Stone. This item permanently grants Alucard the ability to double jump and when you use that ability, for two frames of animation his cape/cloak becomes wings. That is where 2:48 he gets his wings from.
This is without a doubt the best episode of Castlevania EVER!
The final fight theme feels so lords of shadow vibes i love it
Can't wait for the Richter show, JoJo vibes.
In Symphony of the night game, when Alucard did his double-jump, his cloak formed into wings.
While your opinion on the animation is yours, I genuinely think you guys are wrong. Animation this consistent and fluid is INCREDIBLY difficult to make, and it really deserves a lot of praise.
Sure, it may not be some people’s preference, it DOES NOT mean it is *objectively* bad.
I really wonder how old do you have to be to get wings !? Like how many years as a vampire until the sprout!? Or how certain ones learn their magic
I've waited all week for this.
Remember "I am Trevor Belmont, of the house of Belmont and dying has never frightened me"
eric carries this channel so hard
Clearly.
Calvin has some really good moments too, don't write him off. But yeah, the other two are pretty much dead weight. Whenever i watch the discussion following a reaction i can't help myself but skip any part where Rick or Aaron talk, because they virtually don't add anything substantial. It's almost always a variation of "i liked this thing because i thought it was cool". It's extremely apparent in their Better Call Saul reactions, where Eric constantly brings up interesting findings, just to get the usual "well i don't see it" from Rick or Aaron.
I think Rick doesn't know quality
Damn, I love this show, this was truly the most fun I had watching shows. That fight was insane.
i don't think it's bad animation, not liking the style is a different thing but just cuz the style is different it doesn't mean the animation is bad..
and comparing animations- idk i don't think that's great. every anime/show? usually has its own style and everyone can have a preference but i don't really think any is superior if that makes sense.
2:56 Alucard’s cloak turns into wings in the game symphony of the night which gives him a double jump
long have I waited now for the epic battle of death and the last things of humanity to stop it
how powerful that is to say huh?
ah yes, varney. second most threatening brit only to boris johnson
I think the animation was stunning. I hugely enjoyed it through the entire series.
have to watch season 2 episode 2 are connected to the music and the talks Trevor and the sorceress have
This episode for me is the first time I feel Trevor, was Trevor Belmont, not just the plain drunk guy with a wip, I actually was rooting for him.
The Death scene is just like the old games, you go throught the castle barely made it to the boss and had to fight it with the little hp you had left. And also got the shot of the castle falling down at the end of the game.
Next episode... it just stop the series to continue in my opinion, what is bad in a story telling way, if they are still trying to follow the games.
My knowledge on CastleVania is below average to say at least but how much of this shows does follow the games, and if it does, how much? It does mesh things up with other games? Because the feel I get is that the show is just borrowing the identity, what is mostly known and making their own thing.
@@ricardomiles2957 It follow the old games, in some part is not as bad, it had accurate points in the canon, but yeah, with the last episode it will be like a parallel story and separate from the games plot line.
Everything is ruin by that last conclusion of Dracula, because if they didn't put that, we could have Curse of Darkness as the next season with an amazing story arc and characters, like it wasn't hard, but is impossible now.
love his speech to death
Classic anime in modern angle and CGI which is very good and worth to watch.😍😍😍
The animation is great idk what Rick's on
Yall didn't cover everything you missed yet you got star wars visions and eternals and what if ep 2
the animation itself is phenomenal, though the directing could have used a bit of work (still really good though)
some parts feel a bit clunky, such as 12:29. the camera from arm to hand is ok, but it doesnt slow down enough to actually see trevor flip through the fingers. its only a couple of frames. personally if they had the initial arm move faster, then do a sort of slow motion to trevor flipping through the fingers it would have looked like a smoother shot or smthn. like fast to slow and back to fast to really give the arm more weight. (a few obsticles the hand could have hit to really drill in how powerful the swing was would have been neat too)
Is not that the animation is bad, it's just that the art style is too different from the previous seasons and people often mix those 2. Season 1 was absolutely gorgeous and the 4th at times looked like a game cutscene (Watch Isaac speaking with the bug, it looked like RWBY or something) but it doesn't mean is bad. I wasn't a fan of it either.
I think RWBY has great animation.
IF they ever make more seasons of this, Grant has to come in. He's the only one missing!
Where is your Eternals final trailer reaction. I search for it everyday
I don't get why death revealed itself when he was already planning on bringing Dracula back??
Absolutely beautiful shots. I think the real problem is that the physics the world has is a little off that it ends up looking like people and objects are going too fast or slow compared to what we see onscreen. And example here: 12:43 I expected Trevor to slide a bit more than that but he just stands up no problem. The art and animation is fantastic otherwise.
2:50 Castlevania, Symphony of the Night. Comment on the Wings
Why don’t they show more of the episode, they easily could
*Aaron next episode:* Last time one Castlevania........DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!
i miss carmilla - but she went out like a baws
Suprised that Rick is disappointed with the animation in this episode.
Season 1 is really up there. Trevor vs Alucard animation is so goood.
I can only assume these guys have been spoiled by MAPPA they've had AOT and Jujutsu kaisen this year alone. Not to mention watching two seasons of Fate/.
12:04 Oh Yes :D
😅🤣
Why exactly did Lisa go to hell anyway?
Because she married Dracula. I guess that would be seen as a sin.
@@SR98889 So she went to hell because she fell in love with a powerful, charming man, who gave her a beautiful home, an education, a wonderful son, and was on the path of mending this man's heart and reforming him into a person who cared about people, and humanity, she almost restored humanity to Dracula, and thus this was a sin.. this does not make God look like a good choice, nor his church.
@@Selvokaz it’s almost like that’s the point.

Grant isn’t coming man. Let it go
My ears hurt when they pronounce it lie C-fa... While it is Sci-fa or Si as in sideline
Hard disagree on the animation complaints, I'm one of the most critical people I know when it comes to animation in media, and this show absolutely blew me away each season.
Are you guys not reacting to Superman & Lois anymore?
I'm sorry, but I keep wanting to watch these reactions, but I have to watch it in tiny spurts because a part of me dies EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. they call her "See-Fa" instead of "Cy-Fa" Seriously, they SAY her name so many goddamn times and on occasion they get it right but then they go RIGHT back to mispronouncing it. It is a pet peeve that utterly kills me, like how one of the terrible aspects of the Last Airbender movie was them utterly mispronouncing the characters names for no goddamn reason.
Grant is Greta gender swap
I get the talking about the animation, I had a similar complaint. But I don't think it's animation that the issue, it's detail. I always think back to the argument that stems from the Naruto Shippuden fight between six tails Naruto and Pain. The fight itself is well animated, but it's not a good fight.
I think the best example of my issues come from the day armor fight. I can easily track what's going on and follow the action. But man, it feels like the detail drops to the barest of penicl sketches at time. Or the framrate on the characters drops .
But hey, that's me. If y'all like this season I'm happy because I hate it when people don't like stuff. All in all Castlevania stands is one of the best animes out there, and one of the best video game adaptations of all time
Season 4 is the best one so far
It's the last season

The animation was amazing! It is the writing that felt flawed. Like the power scaling is so inconsistent. Suddenly Alucard is shapeshifting, suddenly the two flyers can't fly, suddenly the most mortal of the main 3 is face to face with death and wins. It would have at least made sense if Trevor used the magical weapons from the start of the fight to explain his sudden power boost but somehow he survived all that lol. He was literally struggling against Ratko in the last episode.
