Baffled to discover Steven forgot about this and randomly discovered it 10 years later. The more times I hear it, the more I'm tempted to include it into my own HoF Porcupine Tree tracks, or just my top 10. The mixing/production is perfect too, just the right blend.
[Verse 1] Deep shelter I sleep with the light on A quarter bent smile breaking through Bright future A hook on the wall And here on my shin bone a bruise [Chorus] Godfearing Godfearing family [Verse 2] She found A faded old cloth Caught a scar from an Egyptian row She saw A part of a tin can Eclipsed to all the fists raining down [Chorus] Godfearing Godfearing family Godfearing Godfearing family Godfearing Godfearing family
I saw on Steve Wilsons facebook a mention of a rerelease of rare tricks from In Absentia era. And a new SW cd coming. Its a recent message om his fb. My guess as to where this track came from.
Cuando se da cuenta que los primeros 3 minutos son muy repetitivos Steven se inventa algo con la guitarra y me saca totalmente de mi zona de confort como oyente y me jala a su zona oscura. Grande.
I couldn't find the lyrics anywhere so I tried my best here. Please feel free to comment any corrections because I butchered this majorly: Deep shelter I sleep with the light on A quarter bent smile breaking through Bright future A hook on the wall And here on my shin bone, a bruise Godfear(ing) Godfearing family She found a faded old cloth (Carried scar from an Egyptian row?) Hey, I made a sub spanish video for this song, using this lyrics, thank you so much for the lyrics, here's the video if you want to watch it ruclips.net/video/PAbKRbVQVSk/видео.html on the description of the video I gave you the thanks
this sounds more like In Absentia more than Deadwing, however the theme of the song is rather similar to that of Halo so maybe it was an _earlier_ version
Where does this come from??? I think it's time Steven started curating PT's catalogue issuing all the songs that never made it to the albums. Oh, and he sings like Thom Yorke here.
That sounds like a drum machine and not Gavin Harrison's live drumming, GH would have put a bucketload of fill-ins everywhere... That may have been recorded during a break between drummers, after Chris Maitland left and before GH stepped in?
Obnoxious? What are a self-centered 7-year-old that cannot live opinions other than yourself? I mean, are you in any way offended by my opinion of this song?
You amuse me... And guess what, I am not going anywhere. So you may continue with your life.. Go on, my fellow PT fan, hope you find something better to do with your life.

Very early PT sounding tune from the middle era of that great band. I truly hope we all hear and see them again.
I hope so too.....
Good news
Wish granted
New album is shit(((
This is a recording of a demo for the Deadwing sessions. Song never made it past that. Great song though….
This song has an Opeth feel to it.
Demon of the Fall
I was JUST about to say the same!!! 🤘🏽
A new discovery from SW on his sound cloud. Just when I went there to hear the new Hand Can not erase track... Great day.
1:47 - 2:16 whatever it is that's going on in the background makes that riff *so* much more badass
schpleeb that's the magic of R Barbieri
barbieri is fcking crazy
Barbieri's keys sound like a mellotron
I'm pretty sure there's no Barbieri on this track as it is clearly a SW-only demo.
@@martinmohyla I think so too. The drums are clearly played by a drum machine.
Why are their so many great songs from PT that aren’t on the albums
Exactly. Those songs are so good
First time I've ever heard this - LOVE IT!
[Verse 1]
Deep shelter
I sleep with the light on
A quarter bent smile breaking through
Bright future
A hook on the wall
And here on my shin bone a bruise
[Chorus]
Godfearing
Godfearing family
[Verse 2]
She found
A faded old cloth
Caught a scar from an Egyptian row
She saw
A part of a tin can
Eclipsed to all the fists raining down
[Chorus]
Godfearing
Godfearing family
Godfearing
Godfearing family
Godfearing
Godfearing family
Wow ! Thank you very much for sharing !!!!
Very cool , thanks for posting !
Very cool, groove reminds me a bit of "Drown With Me", has a strangely upbeat sound considering the lyrical content, mischievous :-P

EXCELLENT! Thank you!
Godfearing [Add a litle fire and brimestone]

Best part.
Hell yeah!!

Great track :D
FEAR GOD TO LIVE WELL
what about dogs?
This sounds a lot like "Drown with Me".
Crossed with Mother and Child Divided.
Damn...beat me to it by 5 years lol
Thank you. Where the hell did you find this.
someone knows how to play it? :c
That sounds like a drum machine and not Gavin Harrison's live drumming, GH would have put a bucketload of fill-ins everywhere... That may have been recorded during a break between drummers, after Chris Maitland left and before GH stepped in?
this is Chris' playing for sure
I think it's cos it's just a demo
Good point. Seems like there aren't many fills in this one. Gavin's tiny china cymbal sounds are definitely missing :D
it is definitely not, this is a SW-only demo
It's a drum machine. This is a demo he's said came around the time of In Absentia or Deadwing. I'd recognize Steven's drum programming anywhere haha
On Witch Album is that Track ?
Demon Of The Fall much...?
Have you ever heard the track? The main riff is 100% the same.
Obnoxious? What are a self-centered 7-year-old that cannot live opinions other than yourself? I mean, are you in any way offended by my opinion of this song?
