    I have CS 4MAX American Version - very solid stuff, heavy, tough, monolit. Lock is on another stage of durability - good and successful evolution of LockBack. When I bought it, I also was offered to buy Spyderco Military, Benchmade Presidio 2, ZT 0095 and other knives - those knives was just like a toys in comparison with 4Max when you take in a hands to compare... Maybe CS often dont have beautiful design or smooth action mechanism, but their knives are reliable and durable, what actually is needed first in working instrument...

    Can't go wrong with the Tri-Ad Lock. Anything Andrew Demko designs is going to be as tough as it can possibly be. Take AD plus Cold And it adds up to perfection.

    I just want to say that I love cold steel and I like the fact that you guys put your products out there. I know what I can expect from my knives. I own the 4 max and its one bomb proof folder. If I could only have one folding knife as my only knife the 4 max would be It I cant think of anything I couldn't do with it if necessary

      i bet the 4max can hold over 800. The base model AD10 custom holds there easily and the 4max is a bigger knife

    Did a little better than i thought....the safety pin wont help a lot i think.but will see....i wonder how long it takea to break a tri ad. Even more interesting to me is, will a tri ad lock still work after its forced closed.my first guess was that the scales would break round 400.... Or what did i say?.... So now with pin....550 max

    Vamos a ver, se ve claramente que el agujero de la extrema ratio rao II, está mal perforado y no apoya la hoja con su horizontalidad total mientras que la cold steel 4-max si, aparte que esta misma,! el agujero del taladro donde sujeta la hoja al útil de la prueba, esta mas pegado al mango o cierre y la rao II esta el agujero mas a la punta...ahí falla algo, pero el esfuerzo al que están expuestas es brutal.

    Decent knife but radically over-priced, especially considering Cold Steel's reputation for producing budget-friendly stuff. I can get a 20CV and titanium knife for half that price. Also the 9.2oz weight renders it virtually uncarriable.

    • @brandonroberts6815
      @brandonroberts6815 8 лет назад +5

      it's USA produced. not China

    • @albi131
      @albi131 8 лет назад +2

      Half that price? Yeah... right...

    • @meatblade3490
      @meatblade3490 7 лет назад +5

      No, no you can't. Selling price is right around 340-370, depending on where you by and how pricing is that day. So half that is 160-190. Any Spyderco with TI frame/liners is 200+, BMs don't even offer TI liners on most of their line, but it'd be hovering around 300 minimum.
      That leaves you mid-techs, which none are going to be under 200. ZT's line coming out has a lot of 20CV offerings on TI knives - but those are all 240 and up I believe and certainly none will be under 220.
      Now a 4" blade of 20CV from a reliable manufacturer that has a TI backspacer and liners/frame, that's directly based off a custom? Cold Steel has the best price.
      How is 9oz uncarriable? A leatherman wave comes in at 8.5oz. If you have some sort of handicap that you can't carry a multi-tool, then yeah you couldn't carry this. But if you need a proven hard use, US made, premium materials folding knife on a relative budget? This wins.

      The 4 max is basically a folding fixed blade

    They are absolutely not addicted to cold steel... These tests show absolutely nothing that's worth mentioning for real use. It's just funny to watch these patriotic Americans hiping their holy cold steel high up into the sky.
    In the end this test just shows, how fat you can get and hang on your RAO without breaking it...
