    I cant believe what I just heard. The Marroons did not come off the boats and head to hills. The Maroons were slaves who ran away.

    Maroons are Akans FROM GHANA I think ONYANKROPON means (GOD) AKWAABA means (WELCOME)

      Exactly my friend. Much of Jamaican culture is Akan. Not all. I remember my father filling my head every night with Anansi stories. At the time I never knew Anansi was from Ghanaian folklore. Even today in that community you have people with the name Kojo.

    Maroons were enslaved people who escaped to the mountains. They didn't come straight off the boat.
