One of the major reasons I went to Samsung in the first place . DeX is awesome. It's capable of heavy multitasking and with good lock module multistar you get pass restrictions like you can have as many windows open at the same time and support for resolutions up to 4k at 60hz even for ultra wide monitors
@Wei Chou personally I use it on an 34inch 2k monitor the adapter I got offers hdmi 1.4 so it can manage the 3440x1440 at 60hz however you would need hdmi 2.0 + for 4k at 60 I m planning to get one, anker or ugreen.
I discovered this feature accidentally recently when I moved to a new house and wanted to watch something on the TV honestly, won't even need laptops in the next 10 to 15 years probably.
I think this desktop feature has immense potential. Powerful chips like m2 pro/ultra on mobile in future can probably replace desktops and laptops. Just a portable monitor would be enough.
It's a good to have feature we can do light tasks but I don't see it as pc replacement or laptop replacement. I am not sure if many common people will use it
@@vishalsharma7288 May be OR may be not. No one during 80s or 90s imagined an era where people carry hand held smart devices and make their life almost depended on it.Who knows the power of future technology. Also light tasks can be scaled up by using powerful chips and well tuned OS/UI as well.

Definitely. But not soon. I do think Samsung is leading the way in digital innovation, things like the Z Fold and the bespoke refiregerator that acts as a photo frame to display your pictures on the fridge door is exactly the direction that the technology should be heading in. And even things like Dex is such a powerful tool that people who work with basic spreadsheets and video and photo editing can thrive only using a phone. Im getting rid of my phone now and getting the S23 Ultra with an external monitor because it does everything I need it to. But when it comes to professional power usage it will be a while before they make a 1 device that can do it all. But I dont think theyll ever need to simply because not everybody needs power tools. But at this stage a flagship Samsung phone is a very powerful productivity tool. Especially the Ultra with the camera.
bro, just got an S23 almost for free on a deal from my wireless carrier and I was going to use it for emulation as I already have a phone, but now that I found out about Dex, I will just end up using it connected to my monitor, mouse and keyboard and use it as a personal computer for gaming and everything else. So freaking cool!
Not all Android apps are optimized for Dex, but the web based sites work great. I also find Samsung browser better than Chrome when using Dex. Either way, my Samsung S20 has pretty much replaced my laptop. The main issue with Dex is not having a spell checker for many apps.
No, the screen does not need to stay on, but you can still use your phone while using Dex. The only way to run 2 of the same apps at once is by running the 1st app on the monitor and running the 2nd app on the phone through secure folder.
I use my S22 Ultra as my desktop pc.Been ussing Samsung Dex since my Note 8. It gets better every 1 UI update. If I need need more power for gaming or editing I just connect to my desktop remotely. It lives out in the man cave now. I can play Xbox, PS3, PS4 or even Steam games or just use my desktop pc remotely from my Samsung phone even away from home now. Samsung Dex is the future.
