I have 2011 Jaguar XJ Super Sports. ( about 35,000 miles ) I have tested 0 to 60 and its under 4.0 easy. I ran against, I think it was BMW with a 535 hp tag. and watched them in my rear view window. I do not know how fast it is compared to the others but I do know its very---- very underrated. A speed shop ( a change across the country) can kick it up to a possible 618hp for just under $2000. Not sure if I want to .... things happen when we fool around with 'stuff' like that. My only problem , so far, is a bad sensor a easy fix. The rest of the book number are correct. MPG is 23 and better. I know not many were sold in US and would love to know that number. people don't know how to drive it. Put it in Sports mode and Dynamic and you will see why it so fast. Most just get in and step on the gas. Doing that -you have a slow car.

From the start- Knocking in sunroof - easy fix. Sensor went bad in exhaust system- easy fix. The Cons: GPS is slow but they are all this way. Everyone looks at you. I drove from Springfield Ill to Gettysburg Pa. in a day and wished it was more. The performance of the car was amazing and that's what its about. I did get extended warranty $3000. Jaguar Dealer are far in between and want to play it safe. These care are not cheap to fix. A friend, after the warranty was up on a Benz, got a Bill just under $5000.
PS -- remember there are three engines for this year. 340, 470, 510hp. 510hp was special order. I had to order the car with down payment before they built it. Was told here is about 1000 in America of 2011 Super Sports.
I want the supercharged model. Im just very worried about maintenance. I will get the extended warranty but still. My friend does own a mechanic shop so many that can help but idk if jaguar requires programming of the car with special computers.

That was not a MB S65 AMG. I own 2008 MB S65 AMG. I went through couple of rounds with Jaguar XJL Supersport on Emirates Road outside Dubai. The Jaguar XJL Supersport was 2012 model, He could not take me in 2nd. gear roll or from standstill takeoff. As I shifted in my 3rd gear he was far enough behind me that I could see him in my rear view mirror. No competition.
Most guys saying the jaguar sucks just dont know what they are talking about. they have never been in one. Trust me. I am the biggest merc fan out there. But this Jaguar has absolutely no plastic inside and the build quality is amazing!!!!!!!. In fact. I have personally driven the Jag XJ 5L supercharged (which is this one) It will easily outperform the merc. Its a monster. And last but not least. The jag is stock standard, from the factory. So stop saying its tuned. ITs not.
In the 2011 Motor Trend car of the year issue a XJL supercharged at (only) 470 hp ran a 4 sec 0-60 mph. It was repeated more than once. These are very fast cars that are very under rated by Jaguar on purpose.
The Jaag is an underrated monster, lightest in its class, hell it's lighter than a rapide even, made of aerospace recycled aluminum, most aerodynamic and cleanest, sounds mean too, but that Maserati sounds like nothing else on the road

The original Supersport had 510 hp over the Supercharged's 470. I have not yet driven the SS or the newer 550 hp 4.0L with supercharger. The 470 hp is great but the peak torque around 425 from 2500-6000 gives overall great performance. It's kind of a beast at 470, though. You can hit 100 before getting to the top of some onramps. These Jags are super fast and 6-speed shifts well.
the xj has a new 8 speed zf transmission which doesn't have to search through the gears like the old one couple that to the aluminum frame and over 480 lb ft of tourque and you have a seriously fast car that benz even though its a v12 its a heavier motor compare to the v8 in the jag (its like the benz has a v8 PLUS another 4 cylinder engine) it alsom has a modified 6 speed transmission (to handle 612 lb ft of tourque) so the rear is heavy heavy car+heavier engine= slower car. jag is stock.

Do you really think HORSE POWER and TORQ are the only important things when you're talking about acceleration? The Benz is way more heavy than the Jag (about 350 kg). That also plays an important role, that's what I meant in my comment.
that benz with all that torque has to have the DTC (dynamic traction control) turned on just hook the wheels into the pavement.if you turn that off it would skid out both 1st and 2nd gear or the torgue steer would run him right off the highway. the jag torgue is compatible to the 8 speed zf (he ran it on 7000 rpm well over 20 seconds...yikes) the benz is just heavier. and the transmission needs to be updated the new Sclass comes out this year i'm pretty sure they'll put the new 8 speed in it.

Easy. Mercedes lies quite consistently about their 0-100 times. As far as 0-100 manufacturer claims are concerned, Mercedes tends to be optimistic, Jaguar and Porsche are quite accurate, and BMW tends to be pessimistic, for example.
good point but in todays cars its more about the gearing/transmisson/differentials etc. for instance the new audi s6 has 100 less hp and 100 less torque compared to the f10 m5 and e63 but yet it yeilds the same 0-60 and similair 1/4 mile times. (car and driver)

Okay everyone who is saying Benz lost cuz of weight is not true. It has enough torque to offset the weight. Truth is Jag is modified and Benz is stock which isn't mentioned in the video. Stock per stock this S65 would batter most cars in a drag race like this.

yep, that's true. If the AMG were to be the same weight as the Jag, it would not even be close. I own a 2008 Z06 and was totally embarrassed by a Merc E63 last weekend. With that said I have the utmost respect for anything AMG.
. the xj has a aluminium chassis which would definitely make it handle better than the s class. i dont know where u got ur statistics from but on wikipedia it says the jaguar is around 800 lbs lighter that the s class and the fact that the s class has five gars i would expect it to fall a bit behind as it is not in the peak horsepower band very often. -Power is not everything-

I've destroyed Vipers, ZO6, AMG M series - you name it. If it is stock it is most likely going to get a beating. The Supersport is beast mode. My 0-60 is track repeatable all day long on all seasons at 4.0s. I think with a good set of summer tires, 3.8s is very realistic.
for the 65 amg. ok 722.649 it's old and slow BUT change your coil pack ignition and check temp boost circuit, my S600 twin turbo 2003 with 166'000 kilometers, 584.39hp and 930 nm is also fast or even faster

I have a swb supersport, it does 0-60 in just under 4 seconds. It might not be the best car to sit in the back of but by far the best to drive out of the bunch.

I doubt that, the jaag is much lighter I have an S63, which is faster than your car due to the transmission, S65 is beautiful, but too heavy, not aerodynamic enough and has an antiquated transmission to handle all the torque

+Jason Martin That Jag is just tuned - there exists no regular "Supersport" version - after max 20.000 miles, the engine is jam and the engine will explode around your ears. I have and had many Jag´s but a old wisdom said, that you have to be really a rich men to drive a Jag, bcs. you always need two of them - one for driving as the other is in the Garage. As Jaguar fixed the engine problems, the rost problems started as they even stand at the factory yard. They were never ever able to produce a complete car. This only changed since some guys of BMW were hired by Tata Motors CEO Peter Förster (also former BMW manager) for managing Jaguar. Now dry German Engineers like Dr Spaeth control Jag and Land Rover and bring them back into the tracks like before Mini.

Nah, its definitely the V12. listen to the gear shifting when windows are closed. its pretty slow (old 5 speed). thats also why jag is as fast (in acceleration!!). The ZF tran (like BMW and AUDI) shifts quicker and has a 3!! more gears. so it is also lower-geared as well. wait for the new S65, the all new SL65 already has the new 7-speed. Besides, the S63 sounds much more like a V8, not as hard as the SLS but still "fluttering"(?!) This S65, sounds comparably to a V6 (better of course)

That Benz is extremely powerful... but its so heavy ... that Jag is Powerful AND light ... its a no brainer
yep, that's true. If the AMG were to be the same weight as the Jag, it would not even be close. I own a 2008 Z06 and was totally embarrassed by a Merc E63 last weekend. With that said I have the utmost respect for anything AMG.

i dont know where u got ur statistics from but on wikipedia it says the jaguar is around 800 lbs lighter that the s class and the fact that the s class has five gars i would expect it to fall a bit behind as it is not in the peak horsepower band very often. -Power is not everything-

XJL SuperSport weighs ~4300lbs, not 5270, which might have something to do with it.
I've destroyed Vipers, ZO6, AMG M series - you name it. If it is stock it is most likely going to get a beating. The Supersport is beast mode. My 0-60 is track repeatable all day long on all seasons at 4.0s. I think with a good set of summer tires, 3.8s is very realistic.

for the 65 amg. ok 722.649 it's old and slow BUT change your coil pack ignition and check temp boost circuit, my S600 twin turbo 2003 with 166'000 kilometers, 584.39hp and 930 nm is also fast or even faster
@Trades46 Because the AMG weighs 5,034LBS and the Jagg weighs 4,014LBS, so the AMG is slower cause it weighs more
That Mercedes is in AMG tuned version, while Jaguar is stock car, they don't need some tuning to be faster.
You do realize the Jag is the SuperSport version right? Consider it a factory "tuned" version as is the AMG. Thought that was obvious with the title!

that jaguar is amazing. almost 100 bhp less than the mercedes but still quicker that is a seriously amazing and WAAY under rated car. if i had the money i would have one.

I have a swb supersport, it does 0-60 in just under 4 seconds. It might not be the best car to sit in the back of but by far the best to drive out of the bunch.

A quick google search could tell you that the Jag is actually 4230 pounds.
It has fully aluminium body and therefore is lighter than any other big car. That's why S65 AMG is slower.

I doubt that, the jaag is much lighter I have an S63, which is faster than your car due to the transmission, S65 is beautiful, but too heavy, not aerodynamic enough and has an antiquated transmission to handle all the torque
100% some kind of tuning involved. Dragtimes should check the cars before posting shit like this otherwise ppl wont take u serious any longer. The title should always have some "stock or tuned" info in my opinion.

+Jason Martin That Jag is just tuned - there exists no regular "Supersport" version - after max 20.000 miles, the engine is jam and the engine will explode around your ears.
I have and had many Jag´s but a old wisdom said, that you have to be really a rich men to drive a Jag, bcs. you always need two of them - one for driving as the other is in the Garage. As Jaguar fixed the engine problems, the rost problems started as they even stand at the factory yard. They were never ever able to produce a complete car. This only changed since some guys of BMW were hired by Tata Motors CEO Peter Förster (also former BMW manager) for managing Jaguar. Now dry German Engineers like Dr Spaeth control Jag and Land Rover and bring them back into the tracks like before Mini.

Nah, its definitely the V12. listen to the gear shifting when windows are closed. its pretty slow (old 5 speed). thats also why jag is as fast (in acceleration!!). The ZF tran (like BMW and AUDI) shifts quicker and has a 3!! more gears. so it is also lower-geared as well. wait for the new S65, the all new SL65 already has the new 7-speed.
Besides, the S63 sounds much more like a V8, not as hard as the SLS but still "fluttering"(?!) This S65, sounds comparably to a V6 (better of course)
