Not really. I would say Atreyu without trying to be an elitisit. But c'mon, a german band in the later 90's? not many people have heard of them. Atreyu influenced lots of bands and progressed. Not trying to be elitist, and fuck sub-sub-genres.

I thoroughly enjoy checking the comments sections of music videos. Especially metal songs, because there always is some asshole who has to classify what genre it is. And they're usually wrong. Then it starts the argument of what other metal genre the band is and what it is not and what other bands that have nothing to do with the original band in question are as a comparison. Metal is so splintered and fractured into bullshit genres it's pointless to classify anything anymore.
@MrPranksteer You don't know shit about Black Metal. Btw there is over 20 different kinds of Black Metal and none of them are called true. For your info there is a ton of melodic black metal bands. Yes even in raw black metal I think that might be what you are talking about there still is melodics in there as well. It's called do a little thing open your ears. Also not everyone cares about melodics. I don't want to hear melodics all the time.
They've done that for the last two albums or so, I'm not positive. It's nothing new for them. That being said, I must disagree with you that it does not ruin the song. HOWEVER, I will state that the 'clean' vocals thing is getting over played by everyone now a days and it's as cliched as... ripping on... Justin... Beiber. But Caliban balances the two vocal styles very well.

How is that at all related to what I said? I wasn't implying that their look affects their sound, just how people look at them. Every other band with masks that I know of (Hollywood Undead, Slipknot, etc.) sucks, so it makes me already have a predisposition to dislike them as well. Leaving their looks out of it, they don't sound good to me in the least. I like the melodic beginning but the rest is crap to me.

Considering the video depicts the indoctrination of a child, a preacher literally ingesting the pages of a religious book, and that same preacher then spewing a black ooze that was creeping onto the child's hands as he was reading the book... I'd venture to say that this is a negative commentary on religion if anything.

No. Good music is better than not so good music. Something doesn't get innovative, original or even good because it's from a certain genre. And all pop is not necessarily casted playback bullshit. If you happen to be or become a musician yourself you soon learn respect for a lot of different genres and their artists, that are a lot better at certain things than you are.
their music is not meant to be taken literally. some is for laughs and others are more serious. i dont spend money on their cds i usually just download them or borrow them from friends. but its real music if you write it yourself, and they do. i respect your opinion and i also like a HUGE variety. but some opinions should be kept to yourself.
Of course you can, your opinion's not debatable. I'm just saying that most metal artists want to tell a story in their music videos and make them meaningful. That's what I personally like about metal videos as opposed to videos of many other genres. If you still don't like the style of their videos, that's fine by me.
