My Moms family are Sunni Kurds from Iran, and her families town, there is a masjid named after Abu Bakr, and we are all proud Muslims, and proud Iranians.
My mom’s side of the family is also Sunni while my father’s side is Shia. I am married to a kind, beautiful and very religious Sunni lady myself even though I consider myself Shiite.
How did Iran become shia? Simple, the Saffavids literally forced people to convert from Sunni Islam to Shia by the sword. However, the Baluch, Kurds, Turkmen etc are still Sunni. Small minority of Persians are Sunni but vast majority are shia.
As an iranian sunni Muslim, it saddens me to see the centre for the islamic golden age is no longer iran. We used to contribute the most to the golden age. Many of the scholars and scientists were iranian. May God guide us all to sirat al-mustaqim again. Salaam

In Bosnia the Sunni Muslims got help from who ?? From Shia Muslims in Iran and also Sunnis in Pakistan. There is very important to keep our Muslim Brotherhood we are united on 1 God, 1 Prophet and one Quran. There is different schools of Islam for example there is differences between Sunni Schools themselfs for example how Sunni schools pray some pray hands by their side like Maliki and the other schools folding their hands and there are also more differences. Then there is differences also between Shia schools themselfs and Sunni and Shia schools but these differences makes us stronger Brothers we are united on Islam. The Ottomans would have waved jihad against the Spanish Ferdinand and Isabella or the kings and queens that followed if not for the constant troubles that were brought onto them from their own backyard i.e. the Shiite Safavids. In Iran before the Safavids we always sympathized with imam Ali and his descendents but we also recognized the religious authority of The caliph. Considering that we did not become Sunnies willingly eather and we Supported abbassids in their overthrow of the Umayyads to put a relative of the prophet in power. I see what you did there ;) Important to note that the minor Shia groups who found sanctuary in Persia ended up also taking part in early Persians rebellions against Arab rule. Rebellions led by the likes of Babak Khorramdin were a weird amalgamation of Zoroastrian and early Shi'ism. Also its important to note that Safavids were not Persian, but a Turkic tribe who had become Shia Muslims and had to do something drastic to ensure they can counter the Sunni Ottomans by any means necessary.
And they were definitely helped by the Europeans who were the enemies of the Ottoman Empire. That's why safavids always attacked Ottomans from the rear when they were at the gates of vienna
Iran became Shia and this changed the course of history till today. We are in though times as a ummah but never forgot that it is Allah S.W.T that gets us out of these times and puts us in great moments because of our iman and amel made with our iman. May Allah forgive us.

In Bosnia the Sunni Muslims got help from who ?? From Shia Muslims in Iran and also Sunnis in Pakistan. There is very important to keep our Muslim Brotherhood we are united on 1 God, 1 Prophet and one Quran. There is different schools of Islam for example there is differences between Sunni Schools themselfs for example how Sunni schools pray some pray hands by their side like Maliki and the other schools folding their hands and there are also more differences. Then there is differences also between Shia schools themselfs and Sunni and Shia schools but these differences makes us stronger Brothers we are united on Islam. Stay united Brothers no one is closer to me as a Sunni Muslim then our Shia Muslim Brohters. Also never forget how Brotherly Shia Muslims showed themselfs to the sunni Muslims in Bosnia. @@IraniansunnimuslimCaliphate might be hard right now what i propose is an analogous skeletal authority to coordinate the voices and movement of muslims in a particular direction against our enemies and work against internal problems especially ethno-nationalism etc. So that when we are stable & strong enough we will begin to work towards a caliphate ( Fedralised one cause holding such a vast region might cause instability ).

Almost all of Persians were Sunni. The Shia Twelvers (Isna Ashri) were not even present in Iran but were only confined to the mountains of Lebanon known as Jabal Amil. Also its important to note that Safavids were not Persian, but a Turkic tribe who had become Shia Muslims and had to do something drastic to ensure they can counter the Sunni Ottomans by any means necessary.

Iran became Shia and this changed the course of history till today. The reason is that Karbala and the Shia ideology makes us not submit in to any kuffar no matter how huge they are be it in the past or present. Every religion except us lacks this powerful philosophy of importance of valour martyrdom and sacrifice. It develops only through building the emotional connection towards prophets family and their sacrifices for the sake of Islam.
Iran by their own admition helped america invade afghanistan to toppple the taliban in 2001 and they helped america in invade iraq and remove saddam on 2003 and america installed a pro-Iran shia regime in Iraq. You forgot about shia buyid dynasty which is also way before safavids had effect on iran to be major Shia!! Buyid dynasty were also hated Omar and they were the first, who made so many shia beliefs over the time .they were the one who mixed Iranian culture with islam .they celebrated nowruz and mehregan (iranian fest)with islamic fest .also overall Iranians mostly were shia from the first era of islam ,and their rebellions mostly was shia or zoroastrian against umayyid or abbasid caliphate rulers which they were sunni !! Abu muslim khorasani who was the leader of black clothing movement against umayyid, he was also shia in 750 CE !! Iran become mostly sunni after the coming of turkic oghuz tribes (mostly after the seljuk and khwrazmian dynasty) and then later in ilkhanate dynasty (mongols)we can see some of their rulers also become shia ,like ghazan khan or oljaitu and we can see in their coins in 13th century CE .safavids didnt just came out of nowhere then brings shia !!

Iran was a Sunni country, and there was a small amount of Shia, but it was a Sunni country. He is right, Shah Ismail made the country Shia, because he wanted to be different than that of Turkey. Not only was it a Sunni country, but it was a Sunni country longer than it has been a Shia country. Let me guess you're Salafi? Salafis hate Persians so much, they don't want to even acknowledge all the great contributions they have given to Islam. The way Ghazali, and Ibn Sina see the world, is a very Persian perspective. Only Persians could have given men like that. Persians, and Arabs both contributed heavily to Islam.

This is a very distorted overview 1. Safavids were originally a Sunni Sufi order which converted to Shia Islam over a span of decades via debates their scholars/murids held in their halaqas. 2. Safavid-Ottoman conflict was first and foremost an intra Turkic civil war as Safavids saw themselves as more legitimate to rule all Turkic tribes. 3. There are many evidences that most Sunni centers of learning remained intact. Dr.Jonathan Brown mentions one well known Sunni hadith Madrassa in Qazwin or Rasht. 4. Yes, Safavids were not saints, but comments here show lack of basic knowledge and a blind sectarian approach void of academic reading of the events.
