I'm so glad you do this..its good 4 a wreck 2 turn good and please so many people..I thank so many people that support him..I'm lucky as I get to see them 1st
You've just got to love a old pooper to rescue alot more work but satisfaction in the end . I recently recovered a Austin Somerset from the Regents canal while magnet fishing . It took a long time to turn it from turd to display. So I Feel your pain Martin. Excellent job 👍
Hi Martin and what a transformation from a wreck at the beginning to a fabulous finished product - well done sir and a great video to watch too! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. …………Graham
Martin, it was completely satisfying to watch you restore this old Beetle. I wasn't sure you could save the wheels or the glass. That was a remarkable transformation. You are very skilled! 🍁☕👍
Hi Martin wow talk about bringing it back from the brink. It really did turn out amazing with that metallic blue and gold. And how grubby was it inside. I bought a cheep ford panel van once and it was in a right old state but it ran ok and everything worked. It was only when I removed a speaker from the top of the cargo barrier and found it was full of mud that I realised that the van had either been submerged in a flood or had spent some time down amongst the dead men at a bottom of a river somewhere. 😂😂🤣🤣 Keep em coming mate. 👍🏻
Hi Geoff, that story reminds me of all the tricks car dealers got upto in the old days ,chicken wire, news paper, and such with loads of underseal as filler .I hope you are both feeling better now . All the best martin 👍
Another great result, Martin. Great colour, too. I have a model Beetle in the same colour. Looks nice. I sympathise with your hand problem. I broke my thumb August Bank Holiday. In a brace for 7 weeks. Waited in X-ray the day the Queen was buried. Good luck and good bonding.
Cheers Neil, I bet that was painful for you , mine will take about the same time to heal. It's not till something happens to your fingers ,you realise how important thay actually are . All the best martin 👍
When I first saw that casting I thought, no way! Martin is going to have to buy a lot of new parts for that. But once again you made a silk purse, out of a sow's ear. Well done, mate.
Excellent resto Martin. And thumbs up you demonstrate caution taking these and other "drivers" apart. I lost a steering post on the last VW safari I did. Awkward and fiddley to replace. Onwards and upwards for 2023...Mike
Martin a tremendous transformation. I goes to show that there are only a very few models that are beyond your expertise. Again well done !!! All the best my friend, cheers Chris 🎯👍🏻🍻🇦🇺🏁🏆
If this isn’t a “right bloody mess” then pardon my vernacular Martin!!!! From start to finish, so much work, however thanks for the edit free version as always. Assembly wasn’t too bad and agree the decals last lol. Great job on this one Sir, top marks
That Volkswagen was as rough as a Badger's Arse, Martin - much worse than my 61 year old chromed Land Rover. I ended up having to distress the Land Rover further, just to save it - I don't have your patience! Brilliant save! I'd have had that as part of a scrapyard diorama! Chapeau! You could do with some new detail brushes again!
Cheers fraser, to be honest if it wasn't for the fact that this particular casting was getting hard to find ,it would definitely have ended up in the scrap yard . All the best martin 👍
When I first saw this on the old magic roundabout I thought it looked like it had been buried in sand for a long time but wow, Martin, what a transformation. Also well done with the windows. Brilliant restoration. All the best. Peter 👍
Man Martin that was one rough VW that you restored , you did a A one job on it👍. Always enjoy anything you restore , my friend take care & see ya on your next build. 👋😎🚗🚒🏍
You certainly brought that one back from its very close demise Martin, brilliant work on the body work and indeed the whole model, it really looks superb on the old magic at the end. 👍😊Yes I did one of these a while back but the casting was no where near as bad as yours! Lovely restoration and great video to watch, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
i had a mint example of 401,the one with the bollards.always boxed,i did unbox it and 'play' a bit,but kept it mint.proved it's worth,as i sold it for £150 not too long ago.Nice resto.
of course the buggers didn't stick, it's a bug, after all, gov. :) this one was really heavily corroded. I wasn't the only one for sure who expected brittle posts and pieces... but maybe it got watered after the paintjob was chipped away? they surely played a lot on the dusty backyard pathway with it. ^^ great work, it looks better than new, everything cleaned up so well. :) especially the wheels. :)
Cheers my friend, I never clear over the decals, it's something I have never done ,and it's OK, but it's all about personal choices. All the best Martin 👍
A good example in how a wrecker can be made to look good. when you get a tidy one, wonder if it will look better for painting the wheel centres matt black 7 picking out the spokes in gold. Hope you got the auction link I sent for those bikes
