Workin in the woodyard with Tony (his channel here / @tonyscooltools ) to bundle up some firewood. This bundled wood is what you would find at some roadside firewood stands.
I drove to Michigan to pick mine up the guy you deal with is a really nice guy he runs a bed and breakfast if you want to make trip and stay night before heading home there’s buffalo infront and behind his place that was real kewl .. it’s deep in Omish country I got to visit the place they are made and they are well organized!! They take pride in their work the price on these is by far the best !!! Personally I do not see where spending another $2000.00 + for a electric motor is worth it this is well made balanced great definitely worth the money!!!! Thank you guys for showing it on the channel all the research I done online I didn’t run across it so you saved me a lot of money keep up the good work
From my personal experience, when I switched from plastic wrap to mesh bags, my sales increased significantly. I noticed people grabbing 2 bags at a time more frequently from my roadside stand. They present well, and as you drive by the red bags really pop and are easy to see. I spend about 44 cents a bag from a company out of Massachusetts. I also recently purchased an ez bagger and I can easily do 50 bags an hour. I needed a way to make these quickly and the ez bagger has been amazing. I sold about 320 bags last 4th of July weekend from my roadside stand. The output and profit is hard to beat! Just my 2 cents!
I am just starting up splitting firewood planning to start selling soon!! My grandpa when he was alive was always buying things from some of the amish owned businesses, and im in Michigan so i think once im ready for a bundler this is definitely going to be the one i purchase!
Good luck they are hard to find. The one I have now is a Brute Force and it is much more solid and has a electric motor, much faster than the hand cranker.
You need one Chris!! I've been bundling for over 15 years and have sold over 45,000 bundles!! The easiest way for me was using a Hudson bundler. Great video!!!
Thanks for the one liner. Perfection is the enemy of accomplishment. I have one for you. If it were easy, we’d all be skinny and rich. Please share more of yours.
Hey Chris and Tony, now I'm convinced that I need a bundler. I pay $127 for 100 bags delivered shipping handling. It's always a great day in the woodyard! When you have your buddy Tony working with you. Keep up the great videos guys.
Great video Chris, I love the concept! One bundle of kenneling for every full cord purchased ❤️ This idea will take off for you. Keep up the good work my wood cutting brother from another mother 😎
Brad from Nelson Ridge Farm has a unit that it similiar to this, and I remember him mentioning that it paid for itself in a short amount of time. I think you need one Chris!
saw tony's channel where he showed using his bundler and then found this demonstration. pretty cool. might be the beginning of a retirement gig.....lol.
I had a buddy make my bundler, its nothing like this one but works great. If I had more time to spend on firewood/bundles I'd definitely own one of these bundlers!
I don't have an opinion on firewood or kindling bundles, but noticed some for sale at one of the big box farm stores for $8.50 recently. My kindling goes onto the wood pallets along with the firewood that generated it. That way there is always kindling available as I remove firewood from the pallets and I don't have to handle it as a stand alone product. Works for me but then I'm a "ducks in a row guy". GNI
That is a great price on the bundle machine. I really don't see how the man builds them that cheap. Guess I'll hang with the ratchet strap and my 5 in. wraps on each end for now. I purchaced 5 in. x 1000 ft. rolls, with handle, of 80 cast material for $6.99 on Amazon. It was delivered in 2 days. Great video you Guys.
Had to re-watch this Chris - mainly as I've to build a knock-off version of that bundler. :-) I love boiling mechanisms down - past career stuff - and my "boil it down, Pal" head says the twirly mechanism is over-thought as humans have legs & can nip around the other side... whereby you only need a handle on the central pivot, which is simplererer & cheaper to build. Does away with all the chains, cogs & guff - makes building one a doddle. To boil it down even more, you can make it load from the opposite side too - easily. Which means simple to build. Which also means the saved 700 can go towards a petrol 700mm log-saw I can't build & have to buy. By flipping the sides, you don't need a twirly mechanism - someone overthought that ^ but it's a great starting point for a re-design.
@@InTheWoodyard I used repair/build big industrial wrappers and suchlike, so the concept is familiar - wrapping a product. This can be a lot simpler & still work great.
I don’t have a bundler yet but I do sell lot of bundles of cedar kindling which I tie with string and I sale bundles in 1 cubic ft bags for camp wood. I’m experimenting with all avenues of selling firewood. Even fire starters I make with sawdust and melted candle wax. 👌🏻🔥🇨🇦
My wife knows I’m watching two guys having a conversation…the only part she hears clearly is “So let’s pull it out and take a look at it.” 😲😆 Cheers 🇨🇦
The dynamic duo of firewood and humor strike again. Thanks for helping cover many of the options and questions for those considering bundling firewood. Presentation matters… So any videos forthcoming on marketing, stand design and placement, and signage pointers? I’ve been in the awning business for 33 years and many lettered awnings draw the eye and traffic to your business. Legible lettering, easy to read size signage, concise content or graphic, and color contrast are each important considerations.
I hate that ridiculous flourishy cursive font. You have to stare at it to decipher it. I wontt do that if I'm driving down the street! I'll skip them and go somewhere that cares about advertising themselves!
Definitely a great deal. If we had that option we would have went that route. But up here we don't have many bundler choices that I could find. So ended up building out own design. It does the job and bundles are selling
G’morning Chris ! I was just talking to my girls about making a stand for bundled wood and fresh eggs ! Tony sure knows what’s the good stuff ! Thanks for the info, AS ALWAYS !! GoodNightIrene
Awesome job there guys! Manual bundler would be the way to go if I was to get into bundle wood :). Its 💯 guaranteed to be a fun an entertaining video when you guys get together in the woodyard 💯👍!! You guys both have awesome channels!! Andrew from NB :)
Sure, I just made Kenny's Ronco version of a Firewood Bundler. MOMMMMM!!!! We need an Amish Bundler. Chris and Tony are the new Joe Ades. He was the guy on Park Avenue who made millions by selling potato peelers. Loved the video. MOMMMM!!!
Great bundling demonstration Chris. You two make a heck of a team! As Tony mentioned, I fabricated my own bundler similar to the Amish made one. If I had known about the Amish bundler beforehand I would have purchased it instead of spending the time sourcing the parts and welding it all together (trial and error took up a majority of the time). You can't beat the price and quality of that bundler. 👍👍
Doing kindling bundles, I think doing the bottomless trash can + mesh bag method would be a lot quicker. Especially if you're giving them away and aren't super concerned about precise quantity. Plus your good customers will likely give you the bags back.

In the long run it turns out all the time it took to learn with research and trial and errors we just waste time and spend more than if we just bought the item from a professional.
made my bundler out of 2 by 4s. Probably 30 to 40 dollars worth of materials. I use 80 gauge 5 inch rolls and just manually wrap mine. Cheaper way to get into bundles if your not sure you want to go all in.
Great video fellas, that bundler is a tremendous value at 800.00, American made, none of that cheap crap from the Red Menace. Gaffigan is great, said once “ I’m so white, think my father was a Polar Bear”. Take care guys
Well Chris, yes a ‘bundler’ is a great idea! However, for me I would sooner cut and split wood…..pays much better, and far less complicated. I think you probably feel the same too! The cost of the plastic wrap material per bundle will also depend on the number of layers of plastic wrap that you apply to each bundle. 4 or 5 wraps per bundle will cost a lot more than 3 wraps.
i sold 2 cords to a garden center in bundles a few years back, after doing i decided it wasn't worth the extra money the extra work that went into bundles, the next year they wanted more but i was not willing, i feel a face cord is the smallest volume ill sell after my experience bundling

Love everything about this bundler. Only observation is that the plastic wrap retainer should be cupped in design so when you tighten the roll in place the nuts or whatever you use goes inside the paper drum and not exposed to injure the operator. Everything else is perfect.
Maybe you read my question too quickly ,difference between cord and full cord is what I meant. And by the way, the definition of a cord is, a neatly stacked pile of wood containing 128 cubic feet. Length width and height doesn't matter. My fun disappeared when a large contractor asked me to scale a fair sized pile so he could get an advance on it. As I recall the numbers were 932 feet long,as high as the machine could reach, 23feet high.8 foot wood and not very neatly stacked. I went low to make sure mill sent more money when it was hauled
I've watched Tony's two shows and request that he numbered his shows for quick reference because I am quite sure that many of us watch each show multiple times. It's far easier to remember the # for the show than the name of the show. Will you please do the same, Chris? Thank you and have a great northern day... The Banana Belt viewer.
Thanks Terrence, youtube actually does not like the numbers because the algorithm does not know what to do with numbers, youtube recommends to NOT use them....so I dropped them and it is better for the channel. Most popular channels never use them.
I say manual all the way if it was electric you would either have to run a generator or bring the wood closer to the power in your case that does not make sense
The guy to call is Paul his number is 616-206-5100. It is made by the Amish and he sells them. Be sure and tell him I sent you and that I need one to be sent to me so that I can do more videos with it and then he can sell more of them!
Up until have watch your videos the last 2 With the Tony Guy I shut them off. I will check back tomorrow that's Friday. I like the processing of firewood not the camera hog Tony

22 cents per bundle .. my bags cost me 61.30 .. so basically 41.30 more to bag the wood...
Okay!
How good of kindling material would basswood be? Right now am mixing it with whatever hardwood I've got as basswood sucks for firewood on its own.
Great kindling, it all burns!
Will the plastic break down in the sun over time?
Yup!
It's a nice bundler for the money.
Yup!
I think u could speed it up a lot by havimg tractor bucket of wood right by bundler
Yup, but then yo would need to fill the bucket...sooo...that would be handling it a second time.
@@InTheWoodyard I think you could fill the bucket about 80% just pulling into the pile of kindling.
I am interested to know the difference between a cord of wood and a full cord?
A face cord is the same as 1/3 of a full cord. One row stacked 4' high x 8' long of 16" pieces. A full cord is 4'x4'x8' or 128 cubic feet.
Did you ever get to putting another 2 by 12 on your dumper?
No, not yet, it is on my to do list!
Chris, what's the retail price in Oshkosh for a bundle of kindling? Curious in Waupaca.
I would have to drive to Oshkosh to see, I am in Appleton, but here I have seen $5-7
@@InTheWoodyard Thanks Chris. Do you deliver as far as city of Waupaca? Full or face cord mixed hardwood? If so prices?
I THING JOE OF PREMIUM FIRE WOOD COULD BEBEFIT FROM WATCHING THIS VIDEO
I think everyone should watch!!! Haaaaa!
Where can you buy a bundler I’ve looks on line but most I see don’t look like they would last or they are over a grand
I do not know if they make them any more, I have a Brute Force bundler now, it is great!
@@InTheWoodyard thanks I will look them up.
Do you know the dimensions to make your own was looking in to making one instead of buying one
No I do not. I am not a welder/mechanic/builder, I just let others that have expertise do there thing and I do mine. Sorry
@@InTheWoodyard OK.
1000000 calls to paul
Proably!
I say manual all the way if it was electric you would either have to run a generator or bring the wood closer to the power in your case that does not make sense
Yes!
When you have man hands you will find you don't get slivers as easy when you touch the wood " Tony" lol
Maybe so but then your wife won't want you to touch her, so I will pass on the rough man hands.
how much per bundle klindling wood
Most bundles people sell go for $5-7 but I have seen as low as $2 and a s high as $10
How do I buy one of these? What brand is it?
The guy to call is Paul his number is 616-206-5100. It is made by the Amish and he sells them. Be sure and tell him I sent you and that I need one to be sent to me so that I can do more videos with it and then he can sell more of them!
👍
Thanks!
Up until have watch your videos the last 2 With the Tony Guy I shut them off. I will check back tomorrow that's Friday. I like the processing of firewood not the camera hog Tony
