Good video Eddy. My understanding of the issue in the Lake District is that as long as you camp above the last stone wall...leave no trace, act responsibly and set up late, leave early..etc then it is fine. We have camped on this basis for years no bother. The issue is the people who leave rubbish and set open fires/ disposable barbecues etc.. this was really noticeable during the pandemic. How anyone thinks it’s okay to drop litter anywhere, never mind in our most beautiful countryside is beyond me. We always pick up litter on our walks as we go, makes us feel we are doing something. I would like to see us have the same access rights as they do in Scotland with their brilliant right to roam legislation. We need to campaign to make it happen. Nevertheless, the balance between access and restriction can only be reasonably managed if people observe reasonable restraint and misbehaviour is tackled. The wild camping issue in certain areas could be managed by a permit system as is used in parts of Scotland..a small fee for permission to camp in designated areas which can be managed. If walkers burned vast areas of moorland, poisened native birds of prey and introduced thousands of none native birds into the eco system in the uplands of the UK for the benefit of the shooting fraternity then there would be uproar. The vast majority of walkers are responsible people in my eyes who respect the countryside. A tiny minority should not be used as an excuse to take away freedoms from the majority.
Appreciate your practical approach to understanding the law and exercising one’s rights. Good one you! Gonna miss your coverage of the lads, but your helping to inspire me to get back to hiking. The trails been calling, but I’ve in a bit of rut. Great video! Keep it up
Hi Eddy 👋. Insightful video. The majority of wild campers as you point are respectful and considerate and leave their camping spot as they previously found it. There will sadly be that 1% of human behaviour that leaves an area spoiled and damaged. I must say what a backdrop to your vlog Eddy, quite superb 👌
You're 100% right. When I first heard this ruling, I didn't even listen and laughed as it wouldn't stop me from going wild camping. Saying that, I do respect the land and I am religious in keeping no trace. I do have empathy for the environment tho when I see irresponsible people leaving a mess and damaging land.
Great video Eddy, I think what people have also good to take in mind, is there might be encampments popping up around the innner countryside of England and the UK and some landowners have taken on Board what's recently being happening in the country, hopefully I've missed the mark completely, but I'm suprised it hasn't already happened
Great advice from you there mate. Personally I think some form of licence maybe the way to go (might not be popular like), maybe similar to like the old fishing licence you got from the post office, that would have you registered, this would put off people who are not familiar with the guidelines of wild camping. And make it legal to wild camp on say any forestry commission or national park land. I know i would be glad to register even if there was some kind of small charge.
As always, it's a minority that spoils things for everyone else and was enhanced/highlighted during Lockdown. Great to see you're doing well buddy, keep up the great work 😃👍
Can they not apply the law of trespass in this situation. Will this lead to fencing the land? The obvious fix is to have all responsible campers to police the situation when they come across the miscreants. My camping days are long gone, if it dosn't have a shower, heating and a comfy bed my mississ would hang me.
In effect, they have applied the law of trespass Jim. They can’t fence it off as the bylaw in this case only applies to wild campers and not to other recreational activities; hiking for example.

Great message Michael 👍🏻
This issues of people leaving rubbish and setting open fires have been vastly exaggerated by elites to justify their behaviour.

Hopefully my upcoming videos will change your mindset bud 👍🏻
I think if people rock up late take all their rubbish away and leave zero trace they’ll be ok 👌

Cheers Graham. I filmed this video on the back of the main one I’m releasing in a few days time 👍🏻
@@Eddy-Hope already looking forward to the next one......snow flurry just finished up here in Northumberland!

Great outcome on tonight's saga, most prob treat myself with a call at the fish shop 2moz, hopefully find we're still rowing in the same direction.

Great points Martin 👍🏻
Like that idea. At least there would be consequences if you made a mess etc.
Another very interesting video. Thanks for putting the time in. Love the background.

Morning Eddie Hope...
...Looking forward to Tyneside Life coming back...
Not long now Ian 👍🏻
@@Eddy-Hope Good lad...
@@Eddy-Hope that’s brilliant news 👏👏
Enjoying your new channel 😀 hope it is as successful and good as Tyneside Life x
Thank you 🙏
I see both sides. A few always ruin things for the majority. Here in Canada you have that small % of idiots leaving trash, sh!t etc.
Great video Eddy mate very informative
Cheers Scott 🤛🏻
Once again it looks like the actions of the few spoil it for the majority who are willing to respect the land.
Aye 😣

Good video Eddie. My understanding was apart from Scotland everywhere in the UK wild camping is against the Law?
I can’t find any legislation in support of that specifically
