We gotta stop this, the castle is down, THE BOYLEN IS DOWN, Then what's next, Stamford Bridge? Old Trafford? Anfield? Sorry, but no. A stadium is more than a buch of seats and some grass, is the link between the fans and the team, is the place where the legends are made. As a Chelsea fan, I've been to Upton Park many times, then I came to London Stadium once, and I couldn't feel half of the feelings that I've had in Upton.
From a MILLWALL fan. This is extremely sad. A Great iconic PROPER FOOTBALL Stadium has gone forever in the heart of WHU's own Manor to be replaced by Corporate Crap in ruddy Stratford with no real atmosphere, well away from the pitch in a freezing cold rented Athletics Track. Tragic really and West Ham are going to have a bloody good team to overcome a lack of REAL Home advantage...
I’m a Crystal Palace fan and I agree very few proper football grounds left in the country ( the Den and selhusrt Park are the only 2 I can think of ) price of modern football
Boro fan here. Had the pleasure of visiting the Boleyn back in 2002. Even though we lost 1-0 it was a great experience. Fantastic old stadium with a great atmosphere
You can't deny the atmosphere at Upton park was one of if not the best experience you could get on match day in the prem! I believe alot of Teams and their fans actually looked forward to coming here! Miss it so much just doesn't feel the same anymore as a Hammers fan myself it's so nice to be able to watch these videos and remember what it was like
Never realised how special this ground was till it went, always thought the Olympic stadium would grow on me, it still hasn't. Respect from a Wycombe fan.
Modern football killing the game. Nothing wrong with Upton Park. Passionate club in a fucking hollow stadium with no football meaning whatsoever. Hope to God Leeds never move from Elland Road to a fucking ghost town. Hammers have a good team, keep with them and I reckon you'll be in Europe soon. MOT
Big mistakes to leave upton park. In a couple decades all stadiums will be gone in top level football in england. The stadium was beautiful and the atmosphere was amzin. Now the ground's half a mile away from the fans, it doesnt feel tight and packed like it used to, when west ham needed a late goal and u could hear the crowd from miles away. All of that is gone. What a same
Who knew that that changing a stadium could ruin the face of a football club. It is unacceptable to move to too a bigger stadium where the supporters don't fell connected to the players and the players don't feel connected to the supporters, and that is what a stadium is needed for. I'm not even a West Ham fan and I acknowledged the fact that the London Stadium is part if the blame that is towards West Ham United itself. No supporter should feel any distance away from a player on the pitch, it is ridiculous how far the stands are from the actual pitch. Anyways, thx fpr reading this.
As a Chelsea fan I honestly miss this ground so much. So much life, passion and beauty was filled in green street because of westham and its fans. I moved to Upton Park from Chelsea and honestly this place is a completely lifeless without that stadium.
What a song this is man. Absolutely love it as a man.united fan. I wish our song was this good. I first heard this back in 2012 in Greenn Street hooligans movie
As a Villa fan, went to Upton Park a few times back in the day, even ending up on the pitch when the crowd spilled over during a league cup quarter final( not long after Hillsborough!). I think the end of football started when these great old grounds started closing down. I’d done over 50 grounds once, but half of them have disappeared now, sold out to the money men who knew nothing of history or tradition. I’d been to White Hart L, Highbury, Ayresome Park, Roker Park, Burnden Park, Oakwell, Leeds Road, Boundry Park, Baseball ground, Filbert Street, The Dell. These are the ones that just spring to mind. If ever Villa Park went, it would break my heart, don’t think I’d ever go to another game. It ain’t just your team that goes, it’s all the memories. Fair play hammers.
Everyone called it Upton Park until they moved. What's with the sudden reminiscing of the name Boyelyn? People pretending to have already known that name haha
Terrible mistake for leaving. Just another sign that Football is now just a business and not a game that everyone loves. Respect from an Olympiacos fan.
Sad really... IrishEvertonian fan here....was in london one weekend and went to The Hammers v Swansea which ye won...in the Queens before and after game...great memories and real proper die hard footie fans and fantastic football ground....really cant understand why ye went to Olympic stadium...just so far away from the soul of the club.
Despite the tension between Chelsea and West Ham, when the music stops, and in unison the Iron’s unite in “Fortune’s always hiding” it is very moving. As much hate as I have for West Ham, I have to commend their passion in those three simple words.
Feel sorry for West Ham fans, but all I can say is welcome to our world. Our greedy owners also sold our heritage for a soulless bowl full of prawn sandwich scoffers & where money is the only thing that matters to them. Upton Park was a great ground, had many great away days there. The atmosphere was always fierce. I ain’t been to the Olympic Stadium yet but some friends have, and they’ve said it’s disappointing. My advice to all of you Hammers is hit those tossers where it hurts. Boycott your games, don’t give your corrupt owners a penny. I haven’t been to watch us for over a year & it felt awful at first, but it’s the right thing to do. People will annoyingly say “you don’t love your club.” Truth is you do love West Ham but you don’t want to turn it into a PLC.
same to man united. People been brain washed. cant think for themselves. Only power is not consuming football. support lower league clubs with more heart and soul.
Fit Production Easy saying to support another lower league team but I support Arsenal because they were my local team before I moved away when I was 11. Having said that, I’ve watched the local non-league club not too far from me a few times. It’s not bad viewing & the fans are all one. There’s atmosphere, beers & some laughs. I can never change teams because football is about pride & passion of where you hail from, and you stick with your team through thick & thin. I get what you’re saying that it’s ideal to support a lower league team but for me it’s about your local team/place of birth/affiliated with, etc. If some people are from Bristol or Sheffield for example, they’d be supporting Bristol City/Rovers or Sheffield United/Wednesday & fair play to them because it’s the right thing to do.
11/12 season only chance I got to watch my team at this amazing ground we lost 1-0 and got relegated to league 1 but what a fantastic away day, couldnt say the same about Olympic stadium
