The trick to take advantage of the extra range on items like glimmer is to spam cast it from outside the range so that you'll only walk to the hidden range and then cast.
I knew 3 / 4 of these. I had no idea about that cast range thingy. Btw another great combo which additive is lich + bristle back. BB has 40% dmg reduction on his back And lich has 60% *physical* dmg reduction making BB immune to right clicks on his back unless you have magical procs or pure(od & silencer).

Years ago I was playing dota2 with a girl who was new to the game. @@Septimus_ii yeah, it's borrowed from warcraft 3 blink mechanism. I think it's because the original Maiev blink and Kelen Dagger blink has hard property of "Minimum blink distance" that caused calculation error of cast range from blizzard dev back then. funny how he speaks of "diminishing returns" with evasion when in reality it STILL scales up. Every Butterfly multiplies your eHP against physical attacks by (1/0.65), those 73% evasion are almost quadruple eHP against physical attacks - not immune, but damn way too tough. The issue is not weak scaling, but the fact this evasion obviously doesn't work against mkb or any magic damage which enemy gotta get more of after first butterfly bought, so it is inefficient but in the different way.
@@frank.e.wildcat diminishing returns is when you gain less with each next item you gain. With evasion, you gain MORE with each next item you gain. This is not diminishing returns by definition.
I wouldn't really call the evasion from stacking butterfly "diminishing returns" because each time you get one you will take 30% less damage. For example, If you have 0% physical resistance and 1000 heath and 30% evasion that's 1000/(1-0.3) = 1429 effective health. If you buy another butterfly that is 51% evasion. That would be 1000/(1-0.51) = 2040 health. Each time you buy a butterfly are multiplying your effective health by 1.429 from evasion no matter how many butterflies you have.

Think the Heartstopper Aura issue is a leftover from when they removed all the different damage types. They made Heartstopper Magical and gave it a buff to make it do damage like when it was HP Removal, however this check wasn't updated for damage reduction, which if I remember correctly is kind of a new mechanic.
Figure I should drop this since it's along the same vein. Figured out a while ago that if you have aghs shard on juggernaut, the spin attack thing, and you have echosabre, as long as you don't click on the hero you spin on, echosabre will do the moveslow attack slow effect on every hit the spin does. Enjoy jug spammers
Just for fun, the 'diminishing returns' that Jenkins was saying has a formula. For example 3 butterflies, each has 35% evasion which means 65% hit will land. Evasion = 1 - (0.65 x 0.65 x 0.65) Evasion = 0.725375 = 72.5% or roughly 73% This only applies to single source hero. ALSO, you can try this with critical hit chance if you want to stack multiple crystalis! Have fun nerds! lol
Heartstopper’s damage ticks every 0.2 seconds or something like that, not every second. 16 damage per second would be so pathetic lol. Necro is a bad hero, but not THAT bad.

5:11 About evasion and blind stacking: I THINK that evasion and blind DONT stack, but works well together nonetheless. One think is blind stacking, other think is blind and evasion working together. If you blind axe for 20%, he will hit 80% of the time. If you have 50% evasion, he will hit half (50%) of the 80%, meaning he will hit 40% of the time (as if u had 60% evasion, rather than 50%+20% = 70%). One of the biggest nerf of necro was that valve changed necro's heartstopper aura from pure dmg to magical dmg so you can build something to defend against it.
Fun fact re: damage reduction. If you play Pangolier into a Meepo and you use your shield crash into all the meepos and maybe 1 or 2 more heroes you will become immortal. It's very amusing.
I didn't know Necro's S3 was still HP Removal, even when classified as Magical Damage. It used to be as such, but I thought Valve completely removed all damage types and only Physical, Magicla and Pure remained.
Damage type and how the damage is applied are different things. There are three damage types, but there are several "damage flags" that can be applied to abilities to change how the damage is applied. dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Damage_types#HP_Removal_flag
Jenkins when you are speaking about damage per second Ursa gets from Necro's passive it's not 18 DPS, because he takes 18 dmg twice a second so its actually 36DPS.
I can't believe dota still works this way. Hp removal is just a hold over from the wc3 engine. Damage would break certain abilities in the game that modders could not change so the work around was to just set hp to a new value, removing it without having to go through wc3s damage system. There is absolutely no reason for hp removal to be a thing in dota 2. Valve can make an ability do anything they want.
i think dota 1 did have the same thing for pudge and the dota 1 blink dagger's extended range. also i just found out that blight stone + deso + orb of corrosion + stygian deso do stack with each other lol.
I feel like ability draft players / CHC enthusiasts know about the damage reduction stacking at least, it's abusable in chc, not so much in real games.

Butterfly doest stack like 35 plus 35 plus 35 , what actually happens is lets say u r using it on PA and lets say PA has 40% evasion if u equip butterfly it will add 35% of the 40 u have and if u equip another butterfly u will add 35% of the new percentage u have thats why u dont go above 100% evasion if u equip 3 butterflies or other items with evasion status
damage reductions actually also stacks additively. For example, in ability draft, u have dispersion and ursa ult enrage, u actually get 100 percent damage reduction cuz they add together.

Witch blade is more or less like the first skill of QOP, which will not pierce through evasion. I think they intended to do that.
On a Lifestealer with blademail and bought shard, you can’t die from a target affected with open wounds with an active blademail, even from Axe’s culling blade! But AA can kill him(because he disables healing from open wounds)
The glimmer cape stuff makes sense, sometimes it felt i could glimmer from far away
"valve has specifically programed into the game"
No Jenkins. Nothing in dota is specifically programed into the game.
but how do you recreate the extra range on items, Jenkins?
Is it by being slightly out of the range, but not too far out ?
Its 200 range so between tubmlers toy range(300) and pudge ult range (160)
I raised My rank from herald to archon in just 2 weeks because of your tips Jenkins , i couldn’t have pulled this off without you , I truly appreciate you
good job
welp that blink dagger explains multiple questionable deaths that come to mind from recent games
That glimmer and holy locket trick with help me a lot from now on
i dont understand. Can explain to me how to extend the range?
@@yidongng4313 You get the extra range when out of range by a small distance. If you are out of range by a long distance you will run all the way to standard range before using the item. If you are out of range by a long distance, but spam the item as you run (being careful not to double-tap use on yourself if you don't use quickcast) you will use the item as soon as you are only slightly out of standard range, thus benefitting from the "bonus" cast range.
@@frogmittens6028 ok thanks! but what determined the "extra range" and will it be affected?
@@yidongng4313 just like blink when you try to blink more than 1k2 range you will only get 960 range, the range of glimmer or holy locket show when you hold alt is that shorter range. that mean you can immediately click onto someone within the range that show plus 240 range. basically the range that glimmer and holy locket that show is not the fully range of that item.
@@triumpusgolenius4833 ok understood. Thanks!
It's actually 18dmg per tick with 0.2s interval.
wait so how did you cast glimmer from outside the range then?
There's also a ui glitch with grimstroke's first skill and talant that exceeds it's range
Well that actually explains why the Ursa In my last game just wouldn’t die no matter how hard we focused him.
7:56 he is tired and confused with his own explanation hahaha
Great info. Btw
Ngl, both channels are amazing mr jenkins!
Fun fact Brew Master's old drunken brawler passive and his second skill blind gave him 100% evasion they knew what they were doing lol
Another Jenkins video helping me to gain mmr and understand dota on another level. Thank you sir
nice stuff.. the blink thing is dota 1 stuff but the additive things i didn't know thanks
i think dota 1 did have the same thing for pudge and the dota 1 blink dagger's extended range.
also i just found out that blight stone + deso + orb of corrosion + stygian deso do stack with each other lol.
I feel like ability draft players / CHC enthusiasts know about the damage reduction stacking at least, it's abusable in chc, not so much in real games.
Dr was something we all learned ti8 I thought, with the wisp spec centaur games of og. Especially since dispersion reflects based on pre mitigation damage.
So this is why I was taking tons of damage from witch blade while using bkb on wr, damn
EEEEEYYYYYYYY ITSA DA JENKINS VIDEO.... dude I've been waiting for a new video from you for like forever, I love your content. PS I Totally Don't Work For The Flannigans👌
You can aggro creeps clicking at any enemy hero no matter how far the enemy is
if someone attacks you and you have over a 100% damage reduction, creeps start spawning around you
aight man u getting good at making videos, that outro was great
I actually have known about the item range way way back, cause skills also have that kind of mechanics.. for starts y'all might wanna test lion's earth spike skill range vs range that i can actually hit
Video 1 will be waiting for my dragonclaw hook...
Will be commenting on your every video
I knew something was wrong when I couldn’t blink behind enemy with Magnus even tho it was in max range. I always click outside the range for better direction but it was a mistake.
editor jenkins always scares the living lights out of me
0:06 we gonna talk about *4*, you edited that last minute haha
I got the Jenkins Gamerzclazz ad and I thought it was the video.
oh jenkins, how I've missed your unfathomable beauty...
and knowledge
at this point i dont even surprised if jenkins found anything on dota
How to use extended range? Mouse click on item or how?
Damn, this is so niche knowledge thanks for putting it out there
I already know all those mechanics from Custom Hero Clash, all of these mechanics contribute so much to "winning" CHC gameplay..
so I wasnt crazy assuming that sometimes range was bit shorter than what Im used to
The last one was featured in datohleong weeks ago.
Butterfly doest stack like 35 plus 35 plus 35 , what actually happens is lets say u r using it on PA and lets say PA has 40% evasion if u equip butterfly it will add 35% of the 40 u have and if u equip another butterfly u will add 35% of the new percentage u have thats why u dont go above 100% evasion if u equip 3 butterflies or other items with evasion status
meanwhile valve's next patch: buff cm +5 movement speed
Finally some useful content. This time you did your homework
damage reductions actually also stacks additively. For example, in ability draft, u have dispersion and ursa ult enrage, u actually get 100 percent damage reduction cuz they add together.
What you mean? That's exactly what he explained on the video, showing ursa was not taking damage from cent ult+ursa ult.
