I found this immensely helpful. I am one of the people who left their battery plugged in as you called out, and it bloated up almost exactly like in the video! I won't be making that mistake again. I found p75F difficult to open up on my own, there's no way I would have figured it out without you. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this very clear explanation. I was leery about trying to do this myself, but I did, and it worked. I have a dell exactly like the one you're working on, and for me the hardest part was taking the cover off. What worked best for me was using a couple credit cards, and starting with it in its regular use position, open in front of me, then inserting a thinner than usual card at the middle front and working it around. Yay! It worked. I taped every screw down on a piece of paper that showed the pattern of the back, so no mix ups putting them back in. I'm an old lady, and not all that tech savvy, but you made this daunting task very doable. Thanks again. By the way, my battery was lumpy too. And yes, I was one of them who left the battery plugged in.

Dude, thank you so much for your very clear instructions on how to change my laptop battery. It was slowly losing the ability to hold a charge. I may have over charged it some times, but I definitely didn't leave it plugged in 24/7. But now I have a new battery. I need this laptop for work, so this was really important to me!

A friend of mine worked at a school where they had a laptop they left plugged in all the time because it wouldn’t stay on without a charger. The bottom portion of the laptop had puffed up where it sat unevenly. I told her they need to get the laptop serviced because it was likely a bad battery and they were just asking for a fire.

I worked on a Chromebook from one of the elementary schools in our district. The plastic bottom cover was MELTED. Almost like they had left it on an electric stove. I was so afraid to work on that one because I thought it was a battery issue - the battery is right next to the bottom cover. The battery looked like it had not been scathed, but I recycled it anyway just to be on the safe side.

If just my keyboard lights up is it now uncharged enough to replace the battery
