I was in a similar boat with "Araña" for a while. It was one of the songs that I didn't appreciate until I almost forgot what it sounded like & returned to it much later. One perspective that's helped me approach songs like "Araña" is to listen similarly to how I would view a painting. Some paintings are grounded in realism with precise lines and shapes, leaving the audience feeling grounded, comfortable, and having a general sense of what we're supposed to be seeing. Other paintings, however, may blur those lines, distort the images, and leave us with more unstable feelings of uncanniness, questioning if what we ~think~ we're seeing is what we're ~actually~ seeing. (Marcel Duchamp's "Nude Descending a Staircase" comes to mind... is that even a human being??? Kinda looks like one.........also very much doesn't.......) I found myself having that same kind of internal dialogue with "Araña". Arca has since revealed her vision for the song too: She is spinning the audience (you) into the web of a spider (her). By the final minute of the song, she's arrived, circling your head while violently & calmingly singing into your ears. With that image in mind, I have a whole new perspective on the song. I hear "Araña" as an aural equivalent to viewing a Picasso painting.
W O W… Okay 1, i’m returning to Araña tonight it’s decided LOL, been a few weeks too. and 2! Holy shit!!! What a comment lol, I love that perspective and I have had similar feelings toward types of glitchy music or dark ambient and stuff i’ve struggled to wrap my head around. I LOVE the meaning and i’m gonna take that all into account when I revisit tonight(sooo excited now lol). Also looked up the painting you referenced and just wow, insanely interesting stuff, love this comment so much, have you joined the discord??? cause… 👀🙏🙏🙏 hahaaa much love!!!!
@@FerdaTunes Ahh thank you for the sweet reply!!! I'm not surprised you relate, cuz like... you simply cannot listen to Arca/Sophie's ENTIRE discography without a desire to dive into the unknown. Those people never make it all the way through. 😅Also...I've still never actually used discord..... butttt after seeing you respond ~very~ similarly to the way I did with these albums, I'm sold hahaha. anything to engage with people who have similar tastes, cuz I'm in college rn, yet i'm havin a HARD time finding ppl who wanna jam to this shit the way I do. So props to you for providing that - and keep an eye out for me😊 Edit: OH YEAH... I know music review channels can sometimes get absolutely pummeled with recs, but if you've got a list, throw these on there somewhere if they already aren't: 1. Sega Bodega. (Albums: "Salvador" and "Romeo") He has some absolute bangers and he's very vocal about how huge of an influence Arca and Sophie had on him. It definitely shows in the music. 2. Caroline Polachek. (Album: "Pang") Kinda experimental synthy pop, but mostly in a VERY different way than Arca and Sophie. She's still very involved in this scene of musicians tho. (She's very good friends with Charli, Arca, AG Cook, Sega Bodega, and others.) One of my fav things about her is her voice-she deadass trained her voice to miMIC AUTOTUNE. Most people hear her and think she's "obviously autotuned" but she's not... she fully trained her voice to sound like that when she wants that effect.
@@brrpiez Wowwww yes!!! Love love it, I heard a bit of Sega Bodega last year but I need to hear the full album for sure, what I heard was awesome, and Caroline i’ve heard on her Charli features and she sounds great! I’ll make sure to write those albums down. And yessss I hate to plug even more but the Ferda discord sounds soooo perfect for ya 👀😂🙏🙌 Much love again! So happy to see these comments
born yesterday is actually the best song on this album... the lyrics, sia's voice fits so fucking much with arca's production, and the instrumental is an uptempo but at the same time is down, and make all the dramatic environment... it's just the best. and the music video is fire too
kick ii grew on me; I didn't like prada/rakata/tiro much at first and now they're some of my favorites! the whole album is awesome, as all of the kicks are imo. also those cuts to you violently dancing was such a mood xDD it's not Arca if there's not one song that forces you to dance because it's such a banger!
Totally agree! Prada and Rakata grew on me more and more as the album was about to drop, and then everything in the album just felt right to me after that, she’s a killer forreal 🙏🙌🔥
I rewatch your Arca reactions all the time lol they are the best, and you actually went in order. I wish she’d come out with 5 more kicks this December. Lol that would be intense, and I’d live to watch your reactions. You should react to cayo music video? ❤️
I heard after it was a free sample from some website. Literally saw like 15 people mention how it was from among us and I just assumed they were right cause it sounds close 😭😭

@@FerdaTunes I love how well your mic picks up ur subs thank you
The Among us sample doesn't sound so strange considering she sampled from videogames before.
Mutant for example has a lot of Half-Life samples
Wowww didn’t know about the Half Life samples, that’s sooo dope wtf she’s amazing 😭😭😭
love it
I would love you to know what it means all te Venezuelan Slang that Arca use in her's songs in spanish you will enjoy it even more!!

Fun fact: Tiro is just her mentioning a bunch of places and states from Venezuela, her country of origin
