My eyebrows raised too when I first heard "smashed avocado". When I found out that it was "mashed" avocado, I started wondering the origins of "smashed". Thought it might to do with lazy, run-on words in a sentence. Still have not found a sensible sentence that has a word ending in "s" before "mashed", yet. "With my sausages-s-smashed avocado"... No, that did not work, either.
