Thank you, American Battlefield Trust and all participants in supporting this in honor of historic events in Gettysburg and surrounding areas! Outstanding presentation. In remembrance of the lives that were loss for our freedom. Martinsburg, WV 🇺🇸
Your documentary on the Gettysburg Iron brigade. On the 1st day of the battle. Your expertise on this Battle. The Civil War Museum artifacts are just great. That dairy was wonderful. Thank you Garry, Tim, and Kris Thanks for sharing! 💯💕👊👍
GF3 was in 52 NC , Pettigrew’s Brigade, opposite 121 PA and 80NY. He was wounded, captured, and eventually paroled. Wounded again at Bristol. Thanks for the great video.
Gary me and my son are planning on coming out there in a couple months, we love your videos! He went there for his 8th grade field trip and I’m excited to come there!
Awesome content! So exciting and suspenseful, even though we already know the major contours of the storyline. Thank you for revealing all of the intricate, forgotten details and different perspectives. Entertaining. Enjoyable and so relaxing.
Great job guys! It would be wonderful if the Harrisburg Civil War Museum could do some videos like these for the Camp Hill, Lemoyne, Mechanicsburg (Oyster Mill Rd) area skirmishes. They could do pieces on the forts built around/in Harrisburg (Negley Park/Lemoyne). Also, do pieces on JEB Stuart's multi-day foraging/scouting foray the blinded Lee on the first day's fight. Then add these pieces to the Battlefield Trust's collection on The Battle of Gettysburg.
Covered With Glory by Rod Gragg is an excellent book on the 26th North Carolina Regiment at Gettysburg. I recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Day 1.
Hello, my ancestor, a first cousin removed a time or two was Henry Clay Coffey. Henry served with the NC 26th, Co F. We have a letter written by him to his parents telling of a brother's death not of combat but of sickness. Thank you, I will most definitely read the book you have recommended.
Solomon Meredith is buried in my hometown of Cambridge City, Indiana. The highschool I graduated from is located 2 blocks South of his family plot. He certainly is a controversial character of his time. But, he's our local hero in The war against the Rebellion.
Fowler's demi Brigade of the 95th NY and the 14th Brooklyn were remnants of the Eastern and Original Iron Brigade, which was disbanded just before Gettysburg after three other two year regiments mustered out.
Lane's Florida brigade didn't see any action on the 1st, but the advanced to the left of Barksdale on the 2nd. Dealt heavy casualties to the brigade north of the peach orchard
Didn't John Burns actually show up to the fight wearing his uniform from when he served in the War of 1812 and his own flintlock? Or is that Civil War mythology?
The picture of Burns at around 6:00 shows his flint lock rifle and yes he did show up in his old uniform. I think the troops kinda laughed at him at first mixed with admiration, but when the bullets are flying it's all hands on deck. I was waiting for them to mention those facts. I can't recall if Burns changed rifles; was his ammo interchangeable -- smooth bore to rifled? Doubt it.
Garry asked if people would like to see more of these walking tours. My answer is yes, at Gettysburg and other sites. I really enjoyed this series.
Gettysburg, the battle, the place, the people, the aftermath...endlessly fascinating!
Great video. Kris really is a Techno-wiz! How he does all that stuff is beyond me! Thanks all 🇬🇧

Great job Gary! That was an awesome explanation of the value of tangible objects from that time in history

The 26th N.C. vs 24th Michigan is an incredible stretch of land. Very expensive real estate!
Loved your coverage this year !

Second that, such a good book by Mr Gragg!
Thank you for the recommendation! I definitely need to learn more about Day 1

These are the excellent! I have been to Gettysburg many times but I really want to get out and do a lot of these little trails by myself.

What a contrast between Gary and Tim, both great in their own way👍🏻
I sure appreciate these great videos!
My hometown probably supplied personal for the iron brigade! They also ,sent an artillery battery Loomis battery!
Thanks!
Thank you Terry! Sorry we missed you before.

My ancestor George Devaney of the 5th Florida was wounded and died on July 3rd. Did any Florida regiments fight on day 1or 2.
The 2nd, 5th, and 8th i don't about the first day, but I know they were involved on the second day
Lane's Florida brigade didn't see any action on the 1st, but the advanced to the left of Barksdale on the 2nd. Dealt heavy casualties to the brigade north of the peach orchard

We were here the week prior to beat the crowds.
We’re still at it w/ y’all!! 😅
👍👍
Hi Tim
Why are these video seem so rushed?
Something needs to be done about the car parking especially in the area of the 24th and 26th.
Potential ghost fife 15:16-16:05 or so!
Heth is pronounced Heeth.
Less caffeine Gary. 🙄
He drinks decaffeinated coffee. He's naturally high energy.
🤍
Didn't see you fools at all today
I hate how y’all focus on Gettysburg 161 instead of something else like Malvern Hill 162nd, y’all are really “seasoned travelers”.
You are so irritating Gary ...like the Rebs running into those damn black hatters of the Iron Brigade ....
