  • In this week’s video we’re exploring the beautiful city of Istanbul!
We start things off in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul to explore the famous Blue Mosque. This is actually our very first time going inside of a mosque, and we picked one of the most beautiful! Because it’s an active mosque you do have to wear a headscarf (women) and be very respectful of the people inside that are praying.
After that we head across the bridge to the area that are were staying in called Karaköy. Karaköy is a trendy neighbourhood in Istanbul that is full of cafes, bars and restaurants. While here we try out one of the more popular street foods in Turkey called Simit (similar to a bagel).
Next we take a walk to check out one of the busiest and post popular shopping streets in Istanbul, Istiklal Caddesi. We see the popular street car which takes you up to Taksim Square, and come across a lot of street performers.
Later we make our way back down the street to visit the Galata Tower. We’re told the top of the towers has amazing views over the whole city but there’s always a very long line to get in, so we opted out of going and instead found a nearby rooftop bar (Snog Rooftop Bar), which also has fantastic views - while here we get a drink and watch the sunset.
    ABOUT ISTANBUL
Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.
    ABOUT TURKEY
Turkey is a nation straddling eastern Europe and western Asia with cultural connections to ancient Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Cosmopolitan Istanbul, on the Bosphorus Strait, is home to the iconic Hagia Sophia, with its soaring dome and Christian mosaics, the massive 17th-century Blue Mosque and the circa-1460 Topkapı Palace, former home of sultans. Ankara is Turkey’s modern capital.

🌓 Hey there, 🙋🏾‍♀️I’m catching up on your Istanbul videos, thanks so much for sharing theses amazing videos, I had a incredible time in Istanbul, it was one of many places I had a chance to tour, they really love music/singing. We didn’t stay long because we had to fly to Moscow and that was something else as well lol, but I was signed to a major record label and Istanbul (Turkey)was one of the places that we were in the top 10 in 5 countries and ended up with a gold record, wow it was crazy, you would be so surprised who I toured with, who opened up for me, the stories, will absolutely trip you out, but we were a big hit in Europe because of the type of music I sang, I was the only singer in the group of 3 ladies including myself and i was singing German pop and whatever they told me to sing, which was ok at first but then you find out you the real tea, I made the best of what was dealt to me and I sang other types of music at our concerts to give the people more, to show them that I can sing different stuff, they were surprised because I was signed to Frank Farian and he had a bad reputation that I didn’t know about, he had a group called Milli Vanilli and they never sang their music, I actually meet the the real singers and it was a big mess during one of their shows the recording tap skipped and got stuck so, they were exposed on tv, So not knowing this before I worked with Frank, after the fact, I insisted on singing live at my concerts, I had something to prove even more at that point because of the scandal, so I showed all my fans that I am a professional opera, gospel singer even though I wasn’t allowed to do the music I truly love at the time, I was not about to be in any headlines that I wasn’t a real singer, but I was blessed to receive a gold record, i am no longer signed under contract, there is so much to this story but I planning on making some videos but first have to finalize with some legal business, and have my surgeries. Also been working on having my own record label, I was preparing to go on tour 4 1/2 yrs ago but I got hurt really badly , so i had to put that on pause, and I have been on vocal rest since then,I already had one set of major surgeries I have another set to go soon, but I about I am definitely doing a big tour when I recover from surgery and of course be done with the legal business too. I am already making a list of who I want in my band. No more girl group, just me solo artist with my own complete band. Social media makes it so easy to find musicians, singers, dancers etc. I will keep you updated if you like and thanks again for making these videos you make me smile and I’m looking forward to seeing more wonderful videos from y’all. I apologize for the long comment, I omitted so much because it’s to much to type 🤣, much love to y’all and thanks for putting a smile on my face.🙋🏾‍♀️🥰💕🌸🎶🎹🎤💃🏾

another great video guys! my Pappou (grandfather) worked at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople (before it was Istanbul); he worked for the Patriarch (to the Eastern Orthodox faith, he is like the Pope to Catholicism). My Pappou met his wife there (she was the Patriarchs niece), they married but moved to Athens in the population exchange between Turkey and Greece around 1923. While the Greek and Turkish governments are often at loggerheads, I love the people and history in that region and I thank you for bringing such great videos!!

I guess being Canadian is ok. Everyone in South Florida hates Canadian's.... don't come here. :-) Just joking. Thanks for another escape from my horrible retirement life. I am so jealous.

Delightful Travellers if you google it, this is coming up:
Tuborg is a Danish beer brand that was first brewed in Hellerup in 1875. The factory behind the products, Tuborgs Fabrikker (from 1935 Tuborgs Breweries), was founded in Hellerup in 1873 and in 1970 merged with Carlsberg. Most of the plant is now demolished.

@Mille A is right, Tuborg is a Danish brand but it’s a Turkish brewery that brews it in Turkey under the Tuborg name. Türk Tuborg I believe they’re called. So they weren’t lying to you.
It probably tastes pretty much the same though 😀
