Excellent👌removal of the side panel worries now in the past💪. Continued A/F engineering terminology much appreciated 👌Keep up the great videos. Check those Ts&Ps😉
Appreciate the effort of attaching a microphone to yourself for this. We need a "gently" counter! This was the first thing I did to my 981 after taking delivery - the holes were absolutely full of leaves and pine needles! I noticed a definite increase in road noise when driving with the top up (okay, it got a tiny bit annoying during a 6 hour drive), but honestly it's a small price to pay for the peace of mind. My 987 accumulated some water under the seats but thankfully the ECU remained unscathed...
I like to do things gently! (Because I am quite good at otherwise breaking expensive things 😉) I've barely done any driving with the roof up yet (the benefits of summer!) but suspect there may be an increase in noise. Will have to wait until the autumn to be certain...
Excellent video tutorial Christian. I’ve been waiting for you to publish this given my nervousness about unclipping the side panel. It’s a detailers dream when it comes to all the cleaning 😊. I commented in one of your earlier videos about a possible increase in cabin noise, probably coming from the air intake which that one way drain flap may be intended to reduce? Have you noticed a significant (unwanted) noise increase? It’s a great preventative job to do to save a lot of money. Thank you for your thorough approach, I appreciate this in all your videos. Something missing from some other RUclips maintenance content. Barrie 🇨🇦
Thanks Barrie - glad it’s coming across as both thorough and useful. 👍 As to noise, I don’t think I’ve driven the car with the roof up since removing the plugs, so can’t really comment yet. Certainly with the roof down it’s completely normal, needless to say. If you fancy having a go yourself then watch the M R Sportcar videos two (he’s done two) to get the fullest sense of how the panel comes off. It’s pretty robust, in truth, so don’t be too concerned.
Hi Christian. I’ve been following your videos for quite a while and it was pivotal in steering me towards the purchase of a 981 Boxster GTS, which I’m picking up tomorrow. The car has done 20,000kms only so hoping I’d have some time up my sleeve before I embark on this procedure! Thanks for your excellent insight as always.
@@prashanthp5448 Thanks for your comment and for following the channel Prashant. Congratulations on the new car! 20,000km is nice and low - sounds like you've found a good one. They're amazing things to own and drive - have a great time!
I noticed a definite increase in road noise immediately after taking my plugs out. I got used to it fairly quickly actually (though I do mostly drive with the top up). I recently came back from a trip that was 6 hours one way (70-80mph) with the top up the whole time and noticed myself turning up the volume of my podcast pretty high to compensate for the road noise. For shorter trips around town, you'll be fine.
Well done on progress with the 981 and a in depth look at how to do the drains.
Thanks Justin. You know how this goes!
And a matching car-colour-coordinating vacuum cleaner, the cherry on the cake! Awesome.
The vacuum pre-dates the car but yes, it's true, I do have a matching set! 😀
Excellent video
Thank you!
Brilliant video so self explanatory well done
Thank you Stephen - apprecaited!

Thanks Matt. It's an easy enough job to do - get stuck in!
(Glad you're enjoying the terminology!)
