Most top soldiers spam ult the way dafran does, especially against teams with zen and with a mercy pocket. It's just not an ult that usually turns fights and it's good zoning and Gibraltar offers great sightlines

It's the fact that shield based tanks are necessary and pretty much counter his ult very badly to where it's useless and eaten all the time. If Visor was a new ult, then soldier can be relevant to actually manage with shield tanks.

The only reason I can see them not wanting to buff soldier damage is because of mercy damage boost which seems unfair to soldier
Sky Dragon you know that soldier is able to deal headshot damage right? (*2 the damage) so it used to be a 5 shot kill on a squishy with 20 damage....that’s why they nerfed him
26 damage per shot with a damage boost from Mercy does indeed seem a little crazy. I would honestly love a damage buff but I don't think directly increasing the damage per shot is the way to go for the reason stated above. Raising the fire rate slightly would be preferable.

It's honestly not that big of a difference statistics wise but I guess it may make Soldier feel a bit better/consistent. Would've liked a buff unrelated to the accuracy but whatever. @cristian contreras It is going to do SOMETHING. Very little, but something. What this buff allows you to do is burst for longer. You'll be able to empty a mag with fewer bursts. There's a cap to how fast you can shoot again after letting go of the trigger, so this directly increases the damage output by allowing you to have less down time (less waiting periods). You're still gonna need to burst, but the bursts themselves are now more lethal.
Random nerd it won't do enough to make 76 a more viable pick when compared to other hero's. So the buff essentially does nothing in the sense that he'll be worth choosing over, say Genji, McCree, and others. I barely see soldiers in higher ranks and it's kinda sad cuz he's a well balanced dude capable of outputting so much damage, he's just not able to secure kills often when faced with an enemy like Rein, D.va, Orisa, or pretty much any tank at this point.

Raising this to 580 or 570 would still be slower than making him do 20 damage per shot again but would also make him quite a bit more lethal. It's a middle ground. Maybe to buff soldier while keeping it skill-based, when using his ult he could do more damage the closer the enemy is to his crosshair. Since his aim already dictates who will be targeted by visor, they could add a mechanic in which if you have visor and good aim you can deal more damage. I would put the number somewhere between +5-10 damage if you are right on the enemy, and progressively less as you aim farther away, while never being less than his standard damage of 19. I would have a ring sort of like Ana's scope hud, any anything outside that ring gains no bonus damage. To keep it skill based the ring shouldn't be too large anyways. If you have good aim then visor is one of the few ults that can actually decrease your dps since you can't hit headshots, and Due to all the shields you don't get a lot of time to hit someone when they dip out of cover, accidental or otherwise, so this could help his ult be more effective at all times, possibly even as a shield buster if there really isn't anything else to shoot at.
it is so fucking hard to counter brig as solider. go close, get fucking swung in the face by 100% accuracy left click spam. try to kill her from far, bitch puts the shield up and solider can't do shit. if i do manage to do some damage, bitch is healed in no time.
knowing when to can be skillful also tank players don't have the best aim or tracking (not that it makes a difference really) so they make up for it with mechanics especially at gm top500 level.
top500 players don't, but still talent is talent and I think a lot of top 500 dps players have talent when it comes to aim. Also the clip speaks for itself dva is a character that involves a lot of pin point tracking and she was getting outplayed by defran in that department.
