Thanks for giving me a new obsession that will totally sidetrack all other plans that I had for the next few months. You can't keep getting away with this Derek.
Once again!!!....top quality content and teaching. The chat with John in the beginning was cool. Thanks Derek. Saving this one to my reference library.
absolutely awesome tutorial man. exactly what i was looking for to do my own soon. Thank you so much. and as always, always enjoying your commentary while modeling.
Thanks for the tutorial Derek! 🙌🏻 When I use the Simple Deform modifier to bend the mesh on the Z axis, it bends upwards instead of inwards… I have to offset the origin to the “HeadWithEyes” value but it doesn’t bend correctly… what am I doing wrong?! 😩
@@niladribose8204 Thanks for that. It helped me, too. I dont understand which transformation I did that needed to be applied. I am usually very careful with that, but some how overlooked it.
Hi Derek, you are by far my favourite Blender tutor! Just letting you know that in the 70's I had a pair of "Foster-Grant" sunnies and they were faded but from top (dark) to bottom (lighter) as the sun is normally above you!! Make sense? 😎
@@DerekElliott BTW I have followed your phone tutorial and have uploaded (really bad animations!!) to my you tube channel. I then went on to model my vape unit (which is unfinished on the channel!) I am very new to blender (and in my sixties) but love it. I will have a go at modelling some sunglasses when I get a moment. Love your channel and your teaching method, thank you very much 😎
I am learning so much thanks Derek! I'm a happy Patreon :) I am doing the video for the second time now. This time when I want to do grid fill on the lenses (Face - Grid Fill) I get a message: "Select two edge loops or a single closed edge loop from which two edge loops can be calculated" Any idea why this is happening? I can do a fill but then have the diagonal lines
I eventually found out why. I had an odd number of vertices. For anyone else with the issue: Select a verticex, Hit "x" in Edit Mode - dissolve vertices
Derek, Do you the reason Blender is getting too slow while I'm moving forward on my modeling process ? I mean my computer issues good enough for one simples environment like this. Any thought ?
clutch. thank you so much for this. I was looking for a professional sunglasses tutorial (that actually is useful in realtime) so that i could make my sunglasses design come to life. is there anything like this (one i could use to manufacture) for designing shoes also?
I'm having trouble with the simple deform modifier. When I apply it, my glasses stretch out and become long even if I choose the bend option. Can someone please help?
The only thing more hot than those 🔥HOT tips🔥 are those shades you designed💥💥💥
Thanks John!
The best thing about this world is Free knowledge and the people who distribute it. Grateful!!!

Select the frame then press ctrl + A and apply all transforms. That should work
@@niladribose8204 Yes, it worked!
I still have a lot to learn.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Your welcome brother...
@@niladribose8204 Thanks for that. It helped me, too. I dont understand which transformation I did that needed to be applied. I am usually very careful with that, but some how overlooked it.
Thanks for the assist everyone! Yes sometimes simple deforms need to be tweaked with Axis/apply transform
I love you derek
i love this man

Yeah I think you got it. Can be confusing sometimes when it doesn't work. Wasn't sure exactly why but I think that's it!
Thank you! This info helped me when Iwas stuck.
Really amazing job 🔥🔥
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 🥹 Small question tho, when I apply the skin modifier, the glasses get cuts everywhere and no wire frame 😩
Derek, Do you the reason Blender is getting too slow while I'm moving forward on my modeling process ? I mean my computer issues good enough for one simples environment like this. Any thought ?

Only on special Fridays as determined by my dog. She said maybe next week.
@@DerekElliott okay, kinda weird... You set. Theme and after 2 weeks you part from it?!? What about consistency is key
