That was very interesting. I’ve lived in Greenbank for over 40 years & never heard of a plane crash site. Thanks for sharing.
Always learning new things about our SEQ, that's for sure. There is another more recent plane crash that happened just off Spring Mountain Drive, Greenbank on 6/11/2020. Thankfully, pilot survived that one.
Hi, I can take you to the crash sit. I rode past the area this morning on my horse. You weren't near it. I was taking note of the trails and bushland you were walking through. I remember reading the info on the tree from the family back then also.
That would be awesome Kathy, I'd love to see the actual site. Any chance you could email me at jelbuilder@gmail.com and we can chat there? Thanks - John.
Maybe a part 2 Jel? I have faith that you would find it eventually. Also them white ribbons might be used for orienteering. We tied them to trees for check points.
Maybe, we'll see. :) I think you're right about the ribbons... they must have been there quite a few years as they felt very brittle.
Hi mate, it's easy to find when you know. I'm in NZ atm but visit the site when ever I'm back over there.
That's great to hear.... hey, I did actually do a second followup video showing me finding the site, which was very satisfying! :)
You've shown me new places in Karawatha (that I thought I knew well). Only fair to repay the favour; I was at the Beaufort wreckage (don't expect much) about a decade ago. Here's the numbers I have saved: S 27° 41.800 E 152° 55.320
That's great, thanks for the coords... Am keen to return for another visit for a part 2. Much appreciated 👍👍
Found the site today, thanks. Located parts of wreckage that someone must have gathered together and pulled around the base of a burnt tree. Video to come on this.
@6:28 Time Stamp, Behind The The man In The Red Shirt is a Dark Bent Tree, Maybe look for That Bent Tree As A Marker. @ time Stamp 6:34 I See A Dark Bent Tree To The Side Of The Upper Corner Of The Video.
I just took a closer look at that... hmm, very similar!
Great Vid Mate, Especially the bit about me. 😇As we have found, these things want to stay hidden sometimes. I had a squiz at those pics from 2006 and the LIDAR, there aren't too many places were two small creeks join and flow south or south west, in that reserve. I think they deserve a rock cairn at the very least. I've sent you some PICs in email..
I think it's another Mt Petrie situation. I'll check out the pics.... thanks!
