Lads I just wanna say thanks for keeping me sane. I've been rehabbing an ACL tear since last March and your backlog has kept me laughing through the process the entire time. It's pretty damn funny that this video dropped on my last week before returning to work! Cheers to you all, been waiting for more Hobbit bollix forEVER!

Well hell, now that I know there's 98 hours of barrel river footage, I want to watch that, and then to go on a theme park ride based on barrel river from Desolation of Smaug.
Ah, a lovely way to end my week off work with a new OSW review and the follow up to my favourite movie review! EDIT: Man, I think this one was even better than the previous one and that one I loved. A lot of funny moments throughout especially when the GOW QTE prompts popped up during the Smaug chase scene. I guess V1 is going to be playing The Hobbit game that came out during the PS2/Xbox/GC era for The Battle of the Five Armies review next year then. I think I am looking forward to non-wrestling reviews more so than wrestling ones at the moment because I just love these deep dives and the various bits and bobs that it is provided outside of just the film or video game itself. I know they are time consuming to work on I reckon for yourself and all who contribute but many people like myself appreciate the work and are easily rewatchable and enjoyable. I look forward to The Battle of the Five Armies Deep Dive in 2024.
WHO TOLD YO- i mean...maybe! Hobbit PS2 is the first choice but it looks competent, gotta see if i can find some bollocks instead :D Appreciate the kind words mate, it's really flattering to hear you re-watch 'em. YOU are the best boy today :)
I watched the hell out of the Rankin and Bass movie growing up because we had the DVD and I seriously think it's night and day between Richard Boone's portrayal of Smaug and benedict Cumberbatch's. Boone might sound like a grumpy old man, but he has such a powerful and booming voice and it totally fits the role of this ancient dragon. Cumberbatch just sounds... goofy. Like he never emotes past "I'm a slithery sneaky snake hisssss" despite being the size of a castle.
I can _totally_ see where you're coming from, particularly if you're used to the Rankin and Bass one (the voice acting in it _is_ awesome all round) and I'm honestly not sure I'm going to be able to word my defence of Cumberbatch's performance very well. All that said, you'd be surprised how much of a difference the jump from cartoon to live action makes and I just don't see how they could have made the important bit (the back-and-forth with Bilbo) work in live action with the difference in volume between the two without killing the tension if he'd had the voice of a giant man. I _definitely_ agree he could have gone bigger with, "I am fire... I am death!" but, beyond that I think both versions work very well for what they are.
I can’t imagine how long this took to put together, THANK YOU!! You guys fucking rule, appreciate being able to laugh and forget the world for a couple hours and I’m sure I’m not the only one ❤
Another great episode, I come to OSW for the Wrestling bollocks and stay for the movie/video game talks. I really enjoy the retrospective and the fact you go into making of and alternate versions. Well Done lads!
Just finished watching this and the first Hobbit movie review once again, such fun fucking videos, holy shit. I really hope you guys do the 3rd movie this year or early next year. As someone who hasn't watched any of them and still has no desire to, these reviews were great fun to watch.
Thanks brother! These were a gigantic projects, loved putting these together. I asked OOC to do #3 last year after this came out, and he said noooo it's far too soon. But I hope we do in the next off-season! 🧙♂️
Have never watched any of the Hobbit films, nor have i shown any interest but I will literally watch you three review anything! From 80’s WWF to modern day AEW, video game epics to awful comics or Hollywood blockbusters to low budget porn, you never fail to entertain you divvy knackers. ❤
OOC calling out the terrible slapped-in love triangle as "tripe" is giving me life & strength. Every time that happens, it's at best distracting & usually just insulting.
I can't _guarantee_ that this is true, but Evangeline Lily did say that she specifically asked if she was just going to be used for a bullshit, slapped-in love triangle before she signed and was told she wouldn't be, assuming it's true, kind of makes it much worse. (I know actors traditionally get to read scripts before signing but, with the sheer scale of the production nightmare this thing was, we can only guess at how many major plot details where added while they were filming.)
1:39:40 It’s right here you can see why V1’s comedic timing is so damn perfect. That second fanfare for the Jackson 5 cartoon made me laugh so damn hard. Cheers to you V1
D'you know, on first watch, "ARGH, MY GLOIN!" got by far the biggest pop from me (as with a lot of the Comments section) but, after rewatching, I think my Quote of the Review goes to wildly underappreciated, "this is the softest nut we have." Completely unrelated but there _is_ a decent decaf tea out there: Yorkshire Tea. I can't tell you if it's indistinguishable from real Yorkshire Tea because I've never tried the real stuff but it's at least indistinguishable from a... perfectly nice cup of tea.

Great video as always boys. One of my major gripes when I first saw it was I thought the guy playing bard looked too much like Orlando bloom, so I spent most of the movie going back and forth on whether he was playing two parts or not.
He's somehow manages to be the cheap, knock-off Orlando Bloom, too. Bloom was at least genuinely excellent in Kingdom of Heaven, particularly considering the _staggering_ star power he was acting off, but I've seen that other guy in a weird number of movies and he's got... nothing to him. The only movie I've ever enjoyed his performance in was the live action Beauty and the Beast and that was probably only grading on a curve because, Jesus, was there very little else I liked about that movie.
2 fun facts about the '77 Hobbit for you Jay! - Just like how the Lemmiwinks song was inspired by The Greatest Adventure, the follow-up iLemmiwinks vs Wikileaks was inspired by Down, Down in Goblin town. - The voice actor for Gollum in '77 is Peter Woodthorpe, the most recurring actor to voice the character have voiced him in multiple productions across several decades.

@@OSW so this is what I get for saying "I'll probably never watch those movies again". I'm just grateful the three of you make me laugh so much that I really don't mind seeing the last part of a 9-hour movie that should have only been 2.5 hours long. Again.

33:30 In the early days of my original D&D campaign, we'd have made off with every one of those bottles and had half of us down us before we got to Laketown. In the name of upholding kayfabe, obviously, since it's much easier for an inexperienced player to lose themselves in the fun of things if they're hammered and it's easier to explain how your super-wise Cleric keeps shoot forgetting where he put his keys if he's drunk in kayfabe as well.

1:05:35 They gave him a bit of wood to the face. 1:44:04 Gollum looks like Little Foot with human ears. I will always remember my friend Jeff standing up and screaming "What the fuck!?" at the cut to black. Then angrily stomped out of our spot in the middle of the row loudly grumbling as the opening weekend crowd had a big laugh. Probably bigger than any laugh in the movie.
Richard Luck put me onto you good fellas. Speaking of lots of local extras applying for a role; I was living in Sydney back in 2003 and auditioned for Revenge of the Sith. Needless to say, I didn’t have the last laugh.
That truly was… “Hobbit 2 Desolation of Smaug (2013) EXTENDED EDITION | OSW Deep Dive!” 😛 Can of Coke lads. Always love it when you guys talk Tolkien…TALKien? Anyway. So much to pick out from this that I loved. Drunk Frodo, “Ah my Gloin”, the ridiculous double entendres in the dragon game at the end, “heartburn”...I could go on! Top work as always!
This might just be my own personal taste (and nostalgia) but I love "The Hobbit" 1977. I grew up with it and have seen it a dozen or so times. I wish the Lord of the Rings had been done entirely in the same style so there could be a complete presentation of the material. The art style (for me) is just such classic fantasy, with a storybook feel. I love it.
Amazing review as expected! Sidenote: After hearing that soundbite of "Ahhhh Egggss" from the animated Gollum, I had heard it somewhere else before.... My mind delved to a song called "Birdo" by a crazy Metal band from years ago called HORSE The Band. And bang on, it's the same soundbite. Mystery solved! They are worth a listen, many game-inspired tracks including "Cutman".. Which has a great beat down and is obviously about the Mega Man boss! Anyway, cheers!
I appreciate the south-out!

Man "Tom Bombadil" is my Boy:
Every Person who read the Book said "Yeah, we cut him"...and they do!
He’s the LOTR version of the Brooklyn Brawler! 😃
I unabashedly love the Rankin-Bass version.
Holy carp! You spoil us! Thank you for this massive feast!
Loving these videos lad! Itd be fun to see you tear apart some more bad movies, but I'd also love if you guys talked on the LOTR trilogy too
Really appreciate the effort you guys put into the editing for these
This is a level 10 video lads. OOC is having so much fun.
Richard Luck put me onto you good fellas.
Speaking of lots of local extras applying for a role; I was living in Sydney back in 2003 and auditioned for Revenge of the Sith. Needless to say, I didn’t have the last laugh.
That truly was… “Hobbit 2 Desolation of Smaug (2013) EXTENDED EDITION | OSW Deep Dive!” 😛
Can of Coke lads. Always love it when you guys talk Tolkien…TALKien? Anyway. So much to pick out from this that I loved. Drunk Frodo, “Ah my Gloin”, the ridiculous double entendres in the dragon game at the end, “heartburn”...I could go on! Top work as always!
"I don't like what Trine said" - JR probably
What a great job! The ABQ Goblin Town animation was so cool too! 😎😎😎
I love it.
Man that would've been cool! I'd love to see what they could've done with the LOTR trilogy. Would be huge!
Hey, I just discovered your Chanel and I love the movie reviews pls keep doing them! 😊 ❤
Great work lads. Much love x
Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod *flaps hands hysterically* can't wait to watch this
hope we lived up to it brother!
Now all we need is an ooc review of the lotr trilogy! Make it happen jay
My child will never learn how to play Duck Duck Goose. In our house, only the game Chop Chop Chimp shall be played.
i now want to know the rules of Chop Chop Chimp! lol
Jay's pronunciation of German and French is almost as good as his Finnish.
Whopper review, loved it! OOC is just the best
Keep up the awesome work. These vids always put a smile on my face.❤️
Lol sneaky Reptile 🎄
Love these lads. Like you're sitting chatting with your mates.
