    When do you think Honda will stop production of the Goldwing completely?

    I recently bought my wife a new SUV that has what's being called "mild hybrid" technology. It's a gasoline engine for sure, but it replaces the traditional starter and alternator with a single, integrated starter/generator (ISG) and a 48-volt lithium battery. Off the line, the ISG engages the drivetrain and provides significant torque to overcome inertia, getting the whole vehicle mass moving much quicker and more efficiently than what an IC engine can do alone. Once up to speed, the ISG yields back to the engine to keep the mass moving. When braking, the ISG operates in reverse, acting like an engine brake on the drivetrain and converting that kinetic energy to recharge the lithium battery. At constant speeds, the ISG is mostly doing nothing.
    As the 2018+ GW already has an ISG, it wouldn't be much of a step to make it a mild hybrid ISG. Bosch makes a 13 kW mild hybrid battery that weighs only 7kg.

    You'll see Turbo's being put on motorcycles a lot more in the near future. Turbos are far more fuel efficient and are the reason you are seeing them on cars today under the guise of "ecoboost" or "Skyactive". They are just smaller engines with turbos.

      @NewBikeMikeChannel  2 года назад +1

      But fuel efficiency isn’t really the issue, from my research low rpm large cc motors put out less pollution that small cc high revving motors… is the turbo going to help that?

    • @MegaSling
      @MegaSling 2 года назад

      @@NewBikeMikeChannel Basically, the turbo allows you to replace a 6 cylinder, larger displacement engine with a four cylinder but still put out the same HP and torq when needed with the theory being that the turbo isn't always creating full boost and can be regulated easily for emissions purposes. When the 4 cylinder engine is on low boost or even no boost (like when cruising at low speeds) Your emissions will be less than the V6 doing the same speed. When you want to accelerate or haul ass you'll be on boost and still have the same acceleration and top speed of a V6. That's how the big auto manufacturers are dealing with the new emissions standards in the U.S. My civic has only a 1.5L turbo and it still puts out more HP and Torq than the 2.0 NA motor and it gets better MPG too.

    Mike,What I hear Honda laid off a bunch of people during Covid and can't get those people back, that's why we can't get those bikes here in the US.If you have been on a waiting list for several months, you probably won't get to purchase your Goldwing.

    Its October 2024 and Honda is getting ready to reveal their 2025 Goldwing trims INCLUDING the 50th anniversary edition. I guess this post didn't age well huh? 😅😅😅

    Not watching the vid because the clickbait headline is false. FFS. Do a little research. The non tour Goldwing is being discontinued. The one without a trunk on it. The Goldwing isn't going anywhere. This was stated in crystal clear fashion in the press release from Honda. But people saw a word on a list. The word being Goldwing. And then they ran with it to get some clicks.

      Well I can’t find said press release so please post it second maybe if you watched the video you might see we aren’t so different in our thinking other than I think it will eventually because of Hondas long term plans to go EV. But hey just assume What I’m going to say post a comment, that works too…

    There is no way it will happen, but what will happen is the USA going the way SA, Zimbabwe and Venezuela.

    Honda goldwing discontinued omg, Honda is making a mistake, please Honda don't do it, even if you do a hybrid version that would be an idea 😉

    Yeh this devoting to the 'EV' market is just wishful thinking by some manufacturers, or a smoke screen. Expect many about faces in this in the next decade.

      Yeah I don’t see the infrastructure to support it in 10-15 years being developed now. With the recession coming things are going to change…

    Stop with the clickbait titles. The Goldwing is many years away from being discontinued. There's already a newly designed Goldwing in the works for 2024 with a 2000cc engine and other upgrades.
