The story continues with the video to "Cracker Island featuring Thundercat" which was the 1st song released, so chronologically the video is out of order but you guys gotta check out what happens next! (No Spoilers) The new Gorillaz album comes out Feb. 24 but there are 5 songs available to hear now with only 2 having videos so far
Basically from following the cartoon character’s lore (gorillaz post whats happening with them on social media) Murdoc made a cologne of his own bathwater and he wanted to sell it but it isn’t safe to use lol.
I will say that I feel like we’re witnessing a Gorillaz Renaissance going on RIGHT NOW and if you haven’t checked them out before, this IS THE TIME to start checking them out! 😅☺️🥰😁 Between Cracker Island and Song Machine, we’ve been getting music that can EASILY stand up alongside the likes of Feel Good, Inc. amongst some of the best Gorillaz music of all time AND amongst ANYTHING ELSE being released in Pop music today. Damon Alparn and Jamie Hewlett are doing through Gorillaz to Pop music what Pink Floyd did to Prog Rock…elevating the genre into a true artistic platform all its own with that same sort of storytelling that was present within the best singer/songwriters of the past. We’re seeing old mixing with new in ways that no one could’ve ever imagined and it’s a truly beautiful thing. Gorillaz once told us to “Reject False Icons” and this message has born fruit ever since through some of the best music, impressive videos and incredible storytelling ever seen within the industry. They ARE the most real fictional band ever in existence and I’m proud to be a fan…☺️🥰😍😁
It’s a great song. Damon Albarn sounds like David Bowie in the spoken word section Gorillaz is actually Damon Albarn and a visual artist. The graphics are built into the group
The girl with the short shorts is actually NOODLE! 😅 She was just 13 back when Demon Days came out…that’s the album with “Feel Good, Inc” on it plus 13 year old Noodle performs lead vocals on “Dare”. She’s the sole character to noticeably age-up over the lifespan of the band and is now 32 going on 33 years old…exactly 10 years older than the band itself! 😅😁
From what I can tell, you guys are under the impression that Gorillaz is a band of real people but in reality it's 2 guys, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Albarn is the musician and Hewlett is the artist. The reason the videos are so good is because it all comes from the mind of Hewlett. The music is made by primarily by Albarn (who is also the singing voice of 2D) along with people he collaborates with. The 4 band members 2D, Murdoc, Russel and Noodle are all fictional and don't represent any real people, but they exist in our world as if they were real people within the Gorillaz lore. Since you touched on MTV, the orginial idea for the band came when the duo were watching MTV and got sick of the substanceless icons in the industry and decided they should combine their talents (music and art) create a cartoon band where the music was made for the love of music and the videos were made to tell a story. This is why almost every song feels different because Damon uses Gorillaz as a way to dabble in a multitude of different styles and genres and collab with artist he probably never would have when he was the lead singer of Blur or his solo projects. The only consistent factor in Gorillaz is Damon's creative input musically and Jamie's creative input for the story and visuals. Also, if you want to see what happens next, watch the Cracker Island music video as this video is a prequel to it. (There's a lot of lore that lead up to events of Silent Running you could read about online too if you want full context but you don't need it to enjoy Cracker Island as it was released first, and they slowly revealed how the band got to that situation, the final piece of the puzzle being the Silent Running video itself).
Here’s the thing there is a Gorillaz movie in the works on netflix (supposedly coming out in 2024) but they have tried to make a movie in the past and they never did 😅 sadly in the 2000’s they had conflict with the movie studios having more creative control and getting in the way of them.
Three times. Three times they've tried to make a Gorillaz movie but all three times, it fell under.
