I went for a trip up to NQ recently, and while I never actually went over, Hinchinbrook really stayed with me. Without a doubt I'm going to have to back purely to visit Hinchinbrook, go for a fish and go for a hike, its a very impressive island.
I remember going over from Lucinda as a young fella picking up soft shell mud crabs on the beach. i seem to remember the adults telling us not to wander of into the trees as there were wild pigs. not sure if that was true or not. stunning place.
Hi, sorry for the late reply mate. No i havent seen any noticable caves. We dont get around the seaward side all the time as most of our fishing is on the inside of the island. You do see some big gaps into the rock faces but not sure if they are caves or not, cheers
How do you keep your boat fuelled up for circumnavigation. I have a 6m, 150hp aluminium boat that I was hoping to take up from Victoria to launch from Lucinda and hop around Hinchinbrook. It has a 200litres tank.
If you are worried take extra fuel in a Jerry can. It’s hard for me to comment as I don’t know your fuel consumption. Perhaps you can get an idea on smaller trips by logging fuel use and distance. You can use your GPS or Navionics app to calculate the distance around Hinchinbrook. I do this before any trip to ensure I don’t run out of fuel.
Mate...make me homesick.... Townsville boy living in the NT!

Yeah plenty of wild pigs down the south end.
Hi Ryan, Did you see any caves along the eastern coastline? I saw a video showing some caves a while ago, but i cant find it.
