Why are people so shook seeing a Korean with tan skin? A lot of Koreans have tan and darker skin tones. However, what gets PROMOTED in their media as the "standard" of beauty is fair almost milk-like skin color. So when people in the West watch dramas or cosmetics ads coming out of Korea, it appears that everyone has fair skin. Most Korean women whether they're naturally pale or not shun the sun and many women who are darker in Asia overall use bleaching products to get a more fair complexion. If you go to the countryside even in present day Korea you'll see a lot of the ahjummas who are tan and darker skinned because they don't bother with cosmetics. Also in America you'll see a lot of Korean-American women who are tan b/c they aren't adhering to the Korean standard but the American standard ie being tan is a sign of wealth and health. Anyway this woman is beautiful. She has a pretty face, a fit body and gorgeous hair. People need to stop being colorist and judging people by the color of their skin. No one is better than anyone else because of skin color period.
not everyone in Korea uses bleaching products to get fair complexion lol it looks like you also have a stereotype of Koreans being OBSESSED with fair skin and bleach themselves, which only a minority of people do. A lot of Koreans are biologically pale skinned or even if they're "normal" skin they would use "brightening" products to look like their skin is CLEAR (like glass-clear) and BRIGHT not necessarily pale. It just so happens like that the see-through glass-clear skin we like is also "pale". If you go into the countryside you see ahjummas are tan NOT because they don't bother with cosmetics or "bleaching" but rather it's because they spend HOURS in the farm/field "밭" every single day. Whether or not they care about taking care of themselves more than people from the city is up to the individual. My grandma used to have very very pale skin but ever since she moved to the countryside, she likes gardening and planting stuff so she would spend hours outside and now she's super tan.
뉴욕씨뤼엔씨뤼 Where did I say everyone in Korea uses bleaching products?? Please thoroughly read first before commenting. Ofcourse there are Koreans who are born with fair skin. I said in my comment that even women who are naturally pale meaning people who are born with light skin avoid the sun to KEEP their complexion fair. And regarding the bleaching products I said overall in ASIA many women who have a tan or darker skin tone use bleaching products which is indisputable considering that it's industry is a multi billion dollar one in Asia alone. You're being disingenuous talking about "brightening" as if the point of that isn't to maintain a fair complexion to fit the beauty standard. If an entire beauty industry and society tells you being pale equals being beautiful which in turns elevates and advances you in that society then obviously women will think they have to conform to that standard. Trying to say that women in Korea or anywhere else aren't concerned with fitting the standard of beauty that has been set is laughable and tells me you're delusional. That's what most women in any country would do if they have the means to do so whether that's "brightening", bleaching, plastic surgery, etc. What is sad is that a diversity of beauty isn't celebrated and there always has to be some hierarchy on who's more beautiful based on skin color, facial features, etc. That's the unfortunate reality that needs to change.
Have you ever been to korea? Majority of Koreans are pale skinned and there are only some tan Koreans. This is not even her natural skin colour. This girl tanned like 25 shades darker. Go look up her past pictyres
First of all, you stated "Most Korean women whether they're naturally pale or not shun the sun and many women who are darker in Asia overall use bleaching products to get a more fair complexion." You didn't say all Koreans use it, but you did say "most". There is a HUGE difference between bleaching and brightening products. Yes a lot of Asian countries use "bleaching" products which is totally not safe. A lot of Korean products say whitening which is equivalent to "brightening" in English. Its a language barrier, wrong word of choice. Look at all the products we have here in the states that claim to be "brightening" products. No Korean is naturally that dark PERIOD. I'm considered naturally darker, and then on top of that I was born and raised on a tropical island and it takes me a while to get that dark like her. She is gorgeous no doubt, but her skin color is due to either tanning or sunless tanning products. It ain't natural.
Rochelle grouping a whole ethnicity and race as being colorist is just extremely wrong in so many level. Yes I do not completely disagree with you, many Koreans / Asians are colorist, but if you take into account that most Asian countries are almost homogenous to their ethnic group so of course people will tend to have racism, and misconceptions to those who are not their color. It's the same as here in the US where I live, I continue to be called names based on my ethnic heritage even if I was born as raised here. Think about how things were even 50 years back in the US, where many Blacks who were very light skinned tried to live there passing as White people. Technically, everyone is a little bit colorist. So before you go around and just calling one ethnic group colorist, maybe you should really try to consider why this has occurred - learning more about their culture, history and how other races /ethnic groups have affected their homeland (for ex: Korean War when many other countries were involved).
A lot of Asian cultures (including Chinese, Japanese and Korean) have been appreciating pale skin since long long time ago because having a pale skin indicates that you were rich and thus didn't have to work outside under the sun. Similarly but opposingly, western especially American culture has been obsessed with tanned skin because before it indicated that you have enough money to travel to places like Hawaii to tan your body. It's just a difference culture, different taste, different standards. You can't just blame Koreans for liking pale skin. But you can say that you think tanned skins are more beautiful, it's just your opinion. If others say they like pale skin, just let them say it lol. If they say they like tanned skin, let them say it. Trying to make your skin artificially TANNED or PALE are not natural both ways. I personally like tanned skin although I'm a Korean, and I do think it's weird when some of my friends use a foundation that has a way lighter tone then their actual skin color. But I also think fake tan doesn't look that good. I just don't like being dramatic or extra when it comes to changing your skin tone or wearing make up, but I wouldn't blame other people for pursuing that (unless the appreciation gets socially extreme and overall generalized, which is sadly the case in the US & Korea) Yes, tanned skin makes you look healthier, but just because you have tanned skin doesn't mean you're actually healthy lmao.
I never said that it is okay to speak down upon or discriminate other people with certain skin tones. But it is okay to have a preference. Don't you have your own preference on what you consider beautiful? If you prefer darker skin, you are not discriminating other people with paler skin (and vice versa). Just like how American culture in general is more into thick bodies these days while Koreans are more into slimmer body shape, people have preferences on their beauty standards. If my point doesn't make sense to you, it's fine, but don't get me wrong, I never tried to justify the discrimination against certain skin tones. What I was trying to say was people often have preferred beauty standards that was formed by the cultures/environment they live in or the history they have. Discrimination is wrong by any chance, but having a preference is different from discriminating other people. I think every skin tone is beautiful in its own way, but I have a personal preference, which is a darker skin tone. People who like to fake tan their bodies are just having a preference, not discriminating other people with paler skin.
First of all I don't see why some of you feel the need to put other females down and say that Jessie wishes this girl clearly looks like Jessie they both look like each other they're both beautiful strong independent women so just leave it alone and stop putting both of them down
Cintia Utami white is beauty two just because that's main stream doesn't mean it's not beauty people in the west always hate on white skin so when they see a country that likes pale skin they always wanna be like there so raisist when they did t even mean European white just Asian white and they think all if them hate darker akin because all of a sudden liking pale skin means hating dark skin which isn't true you can prefer one and still like the other yes it's uncommon there and so what? What's the big deal it's so common in the west to have darker skin and tan like y'all trying to pick and find problems
White or not it doesn't matter....this statement is really stupid if you guys want to spread out that dark skins is also beautiful then all skins should be beautiful like all your doing is just starting over again if where only supporting dark skins now then what else?
My first thought was : why are people taking about skin color? And second: why hate? Like why hate on anybody if it doesn’t affect others? I’m korean. I’m pale as shit. I burn and peel. If you are not already skinny the only way to lose inches off of your waist is to exercise and lose fat. You cannot spot reduce fat you have to lose all over. If you are already thin, well then your waist is what it is. Your ribs and hips determine how its shaped and how small it will be and nothing short of removing ribs or waist training will change that and I recommend neither. I have no idea why she is lying, I guess to impress people. I also dont know if her waist is actually that small but I can tell you for a fact that she didn't get it that small by exercise. Croissant none of that justifies or makes it okay to speak down upon or discriminate those with darker skin though so i dont see your point.
