- The 1981 Race of the Year at Mallory Park was one of the closest fought Bike Grand Prix races for years, with Barry Sheene, New Zealander Graeme Crosby and American Randy Mamola dicing with Kork Ballington and Ron Haslam on the big Honda GP bike.

attended a lot of mallory ROTY. what an era,never forget schwantz's arrival at a race there,coming into the hairpin with the back wheel high up in the air under braking,good memories of that track.
Marvellous stuff! Still does not seem right to see Barry on anything but a Heron Suzuki, and Ballington certainly got the best out of the Kawa 500.
