Happy to say I was there. Some years back friends of mine restored a TZ750 to a very high standard and got it painted like Steve's Yamaha Canada OW01. Subsequently Steve was a star guest at Festival of a 1000 bikes. My friends were parading the their TZ, Steve saw it and found it in the pits and contem congratulated my friends on their tribute. We were impressed that Steve is still as lithe as a racing snake and still fits in his "back in the day" leathers.

Some great names in that line up , Roger Marshall being lapped !!. Powerful engines with spaghetti frames , skilled and courageous riders .

Sucks that we lost the Peter Starr interviews, pure gold! When his podcast was taken down I guess they are lost forever...

The Golden era of road racing. Steve rode a brilliant race but he had a huge cubic displacement advantage over Barry and Pat. Steve was on the latest factory Yamaha OW 750 and Barry on a factory Suzuki 500 and Pat a production Suzuki RG500. For Barry and Pat, it was like taking a knife to a gun fight.

1976 rather sketchy tires.. Power on and off like a Toggle switch and spindly frames. It took some real skill and courage to race thos bikes flat out.
