    Dan you once made a video on topic :
    It's not the pain it's the fear of pain ,,, that's the answer I think of all TMS problems ,,, things like what if, will I but running in minds of TMS patients etc etc

      Very true. Fear runs the whole TMS show.

    This was so timely! I had heard you mention indifference in some other videos and so yesterday when the nausea and migraine pains started I was like "ooh, time to try". I kindly and calmly told myself that I was ok, that I understood my brain was trying to protect me but that it wasnt needed today. I talked to myself and said, oh hi there brain pain we've been together for some time now and I noticed you've been working it! You've done so well keeping me safe from lions and stuff! You are more than welcome to stick around doing your thing, but curious when the last time was that you took some time off for you? Maybe its time for a lil vacay, kick back and have some fun just for you? Then I imagined brain pain getting all excited, packing some bags and grabbing sun glasses. I kept reasuring him that everything was gonna be ok, that he was more than welcome to stick around and work on spreadsheets or whatever, but I could feel his excitement around appreciating he'd been doing a great job and that it was more than ok to take a break if he wanted to. I did this everytime a wave of pain came through and I definately felt some shifts. Plus I had myself laughing thinking about all the fun activities brain pain would do on vacay! I plan on continuing to test it out. Thanks!

      this is awesome. Combine this type of reassurance with actually shifting focus to something other than trying to end the pain. Go do something productive or fun.

    hey dan thanks for another great video. I have this problem where i get a pain and it sticks around until i get indifferent about it than im pain free for a little while till comes back or moves to another part of my body, sometimes i freak out about that for a bit esp if its a new location until i get indifferent and it goes away or moves to another part. I wish i could keep the pains away forever but it seems like the tms doesnt give up always looking for a way to get my attention. You name it ive had it-lower back pain w sciatica, upper back pain w chest pain, digestive pain, neck pain, pelvic pain... Thanks to the knowledge of tms it usually doesnt stick around long like it used to when i would get super fearful. I know now its all TMS and not physical which helps me live a much better life , much love

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +1

      Awesome. See if you can step away from the freak out zone immediately. How we respond to a new pain or repeat of an old pain greatly determines the severity and how long it sticks around.

    I have a question. Do you think people experienced TMS before the industrial revolution? I was thinking most people were so busy trying to live , chopping wood, hunting gathering, digging wells carrying water fixing all meals. Like there is no time to think about the pain you must get up and move you don’t have much choice. lol

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +4

      I have no idea and no way to find out. However, most people with some pain sucked it up, assumed their body would heal and carried on. They didn't have an army of doctors telling them they were broken, nor did they have the internet to research why they were "broken" and convince them to never move again.

    As weird as it sounds, sinking into the pain, listen to a guided relaxation vid , accepting and even make friends with it , with an inner smile, can bring faster relief then any meds.
    I think its the way you say whatever Dan , the body language how you flip your head up then turn your head focusing away , it looks like ignore . For the record folks ,trying hard to Ignore is like trying to hide or run from a bear, its a danger signal and makes it worse .
    Hey Dan, don't you get symptoms every time Elaine tells you off ?. Haha, classic !

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +1

      I have never told anyone to ignore symptoms. I tell them to engage in living their life and not giving their symptoms much significance or fear. I don't get symptoms at all. Let alone from RUclips comments. Elaine is not telling me off. She is expressing her experience which may or may not agree with mine. All good. She and I get along well.

    Dan, at the end of the video you mention it may even be more important to send consistent messages of safety to the brain. Can you provide some examples? Thank you and really enjoying your content. Very helpful material.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +1

      Great suggestion!. I'll see if I can address this soon. But simple way to tell. Is what I'm thinking, doing, saying helping me to feel more safe and already well physically? Or is it instilling more fear?
      "What if the doctor missed something?" = Danger
      "I know my body is perfectly fine. I just need to teach my brain that fact." = Safety
      Indifference = safety
      Worry, fear, anxiety = Danger
      Evaluate your dominant thoughts with this criteria.

    Hello Dan,
    I have muscle pain, hart muscle triggerpoints in your upper back, schoulders, low back and more. Nothing help. De dokter say its Bechterew a auto immuun disease. Can this make the triggerpounts and hart muscle thats give anger, can this all can go away? Thanks Dan.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад

      What doctors say about trigger points and some scary diagnosis is not how we figure out if we can eliminate the pain.
      First, learn about the cause of most pain. Watch the video here:
      PainFreeYou.com
      Next, determine if TMS applies to you: DanBuglio.com/paintest
      If you score over 29, yes, you can eliminate the pain.

    Thanks for this, Dan. However, I find being indifferent to my pain is really difficult during the night in bed when I can't just acknowledge it and get on with my day. Any tips?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +1

      I understand. But if you listen to the video again, I acknowledge that sometimes indifference is not easy or even possible. If that's the case at night, calmly reassuring yourself that you are fine and NOT freaking out is the next best thing.

    Hi Dan. Your videos are really helping me. I’ve got a curiosity question that’s been on my mind.
    Can neural circuit pain cause more inflammation? ie if for instance you get injured , the injury lingers for far too long, you work out it’s TMS, you improve yourself by stoping freaking out, but then you relapse with lots of stress. Will that stress cause more inflammation like a viscous circle or is the pain purely just a neural circuit pain without any physical inflammation. Sorry difficult to describe I hope you understand what I mean.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +1

      If you are talking about something like an ankle swelling when you sprain it, the body heals and the pain goes away. Stress can bring pain back (classic TMS). If the brain perceives that the pain means you re-injured it, the brain can create the same swelling in an attempt to help this re-injured ankle heal again. As long as you did not twist your ankle and sufficient time and recovery has happened, recurrence of pain to the site of an old injury is often just TMS. Especially if stress is what brings the pain back.

    • @hilltribelife3843
      @hilltribelife3843 3 года назад +1

      @@PainFreeYou Thankyou Dan.
      That answered my question. The body will create its own swelling for the perceived threat . This is how it has seemed all this time.
      The ankle is quite a bit better since you last messaged me. I’ve even adopted a dog for running who is pushing me to my limits. I m no worse for it compared to when I was taking it easy for all those months!!!
      All the best Tom
