He said "oui" cause the festival was in France, he often does such things, like saying something in the motherlanguage of the audience (or they play connected songs like "Moskau" in Russia... The song itself is (I think) an analogous for the love between men and women and man and man (throw a spear in the army - - > being homosexual/ spear in the fish (fish often appears as synonym for vagina) - - > men loves women or women loves men) :) - - > everybody does it in his own way

      Nochmals: vielen Dank❗😘

I think this song deals with different sexual preferences.
"One thrusts the spear at the man
Then the other to the fish"
Fish is a metaphor for woman frequently used by Rammstein.

Hello , I am a very big Rammstein fan and find your reactions to the videos of Rammstein great . I find your way how you bring it across very sympathetic. There are still a lot of Rammstein videos. However, I can still recommend a German band with the name Eisbrecher. Greetings from Germany!

The Germanic people have a long history with seafaring so I think it's more general in nature (not necessarily in Germania itself, maybe more in the Netherlands area where there's more coastal area). Mind you, during the war, Germany didn't have a very impressive navy, mainly U-boats.

YES!!! VÖLKERBALL! OMG you gotta react to it...Theres 2 seperate ones..one in London England where they only perform 4 songs from that concert i recommend 'Sonne' and 'Rein Raus'..and from the one in Nîmes France: the opening song-'Reise Reise' then 'Asche zu Asche','Morgenstern','Los','Stein um Stein','Ich will' and the closing song 'Stripped'.

I have never seen that as a conflict between man, but the carnage that is inflicted upon fish and the like on a daily basis that is completely normalised.

Hi, you might be right, maybe the landing of the US in the Normandy in WW2, in france. And it must have been superbrutal, 1/3 of the soldiers died there. I think "bleed themselves dry on the shore" points on that. If you know the movie Saving Private Ryan, it starts with landing on those shores. Just for general idea, it`s not a documentation after all.
Rammstein`s songs often have more meanings than one, I love to search the deeper one. They want our fantasy, you know. lol
Thanks for this great reaction, greetings from Germany

I think this song is about life. It seems metaphoric. The sailor used to be the men, the sea used to be the life and the waves are the hard times or war. But it's my approach to the meaning of the song.
    Anyways it's a good song.

And about sex. "Everyone does their own thing." Gay or straight. "One thrusts the spear to the man, the other to the fish." Spear and fish are metaphors for the male or female genitals.

sorry, this song has absolutely nothing to do with the world wars. a whaler sings about his catch on high seas.
nevertheless, thanks for your efforts to preserve the background of rammstein songs. it is a pleasure for me to help.
