Josh, here is the Air Force's (Enlisted) Job Selection Process:
When processing through the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), you will provide the Air Force Job Counselor with at least 5 jobs or more and an aptitude area (General, Mechanical, Electronics, or Administrative) that you qualified for, and are willing to train and serve in. You will receive one of the jobs, or an aptitude area that meets the needs of the United States Air Force that YOU selected. Remember, this is an opportunity for you to go through the job selection process, and Enlist into the United States Air Force, not shop for a specific job. You CANNOT wait for a specific job. Whether it is your #1 job choice or your #8 job choice you must accept the career. As long as you are fully qualified for a specific career, and if there is an opening in that career field, then you will get that career guaranteed to you in your contract. Remember you will receive one of the careers/aptitude area that you qualified for and that YOU requested.
