Just picked up the compact Sawstop . As I use three table saws in my shop. Two of them are cabinet saws and then the compact which is on a mobile base. I use this saw for a lot of small tasks. Before it was the Dewalt DW745 type 1, 2006 model. I figured it needed to be retired. The dust collection on the Dewalt was pretty good. So far this saw is pretty good too. Being a carpenter I make dust but I don’t like it. Thanks for the video
Thank you, Ron. I appreciate all you do. It looks good to me also.
Thanks for watching
It looks like SawStop didn’t offer a blade guard with vacuum port on the CTS model. Anyone found an option that works?
Sounds like an opportunity for festool et al. to build a blast gate into the individual power tool dust port.
That would be nice!
A few years ago I found blast gates which were made by shop-vac and were actually called shop-vacuum gates and mounted them on a festool y adapter using 2 Bosch adapters. It took a bit of working out what parts worked but they now work really good and never clog up like the Rockler blast gates which barely made it through the fist day of using them. All the festool and wet/dry vac Hoses fit right into the vacuum gates without any modifications. I stocked up on some a few years ago and now it doesn't seem like they can be bought anymore
In your experience, which is the more precise - the Sawstop CTS or the Jobsite Pro? I build cabinets and simple furniture designed by my wife.
Any comments on the relative merits of fences and table tops o the CTS and JSP would also be very helpful.
In fact, how about a video on compare and contrast the JSP and CTS. I think there are probably many like myself about to buy a JSP for my small workshop, but wondering if the CTS might be better for my very modest needs.
Thank you for your videos, always educational and interesting.
I believe you said the JSP had better dust collection when you used the blade guard, but that often you did not use the blade guard.
Looks good to me Ron
😎🤙
Hey Ron -- what blade do you have in the table saw? Because that'll affect dust too, of course. Thanks, great video.
Great video Ron! I really appreciate your explanation and honesty as to the vacuum attachments and electrical connections. I have been trying to find a vacuum/tool combination that would work for quite some time. I have a Festool Midi and a DeWalt 10" miter saw and 10" table saw that I have been switching a larger diameter hose and a smaller diameter hose at the Midi when I use each. With the midi having the hose plug in on the top, that is not the most convenient thing to do to say the least. I am now thinking of getting the Festool "Y adapter" and plugging both in at the same time. I am curious as to how you plug your tools into your vacuum. I heard you say in the video that you have an electrical squid? that you plug everything into and then plug that into your vacuum. Can you let me know what you are using for the plug splitter? Is it something you made or something you bought? Thanks so much for the help and videos!
This is the splitter I have: amzn.to/3YJQmDv
@@TheSmartWoodshop Thanks so much! Enjoy the Super bowl!
@@TheSmartWoodshop I am about to order the splitter and I just want to make sure that it heavy duty enough of a cord to handle your table saw and miter box. It says that it is 16 gauge wire. You have used it with no issues with your attachments?
Because I will be working in an outdoor garage-port setting, I cannot justify investing yet in dust extractor(s), but will be using with the direction of prevailing winds & a cordless leaf blower... until, you pointed out why the the Festool Domino really needs the vacuum extraction,... I don't want to overheat the cutting bits.
(by the way, that Festool 'rabbit hole' you dug for me has "extracted" dozens of Ben Franklin's from my wallet -- WONDERFUL equipment!! ...& some TSO items, as well!)
So, I will put my cordless Dewalt shop vac. to use, for the Domino.
...
Just curious here...
Would you consider doing a comparison video of the TSO DBF-45 BigFoot, compared to the Festool Domino accessories it is a competitor to? ...or, ,maybe just some mention of how they compare, if that can be trailored in an upcoming video?
I'm guessing, given the table full of TSO items you've shown before, you might have this Bigfoot.
Thanks!
the domino has no real competitors. it's patented.
What is the minimum amperage required for the Festool dust extractor with the CTS plugged into it? To have both running at the same time on the same circuit.
I appreciate your videos. I’m thinking about getting this saw to replace my Bosch. My only concern, beside dado’s, is the Bosch mobility. I can roll it everywhere. Do you thing this saw could fit into an aftermarket rolling stand like the one Ridgid makes?
Good question, but I have no answer! As you can see from the videos, I don't use any stand as I hang it from my bench.
@@TheSmartWoodshop I’m headed to Rockler this week . I’ll keep you posted! Your setup is next level.
Ron, sorry, one more quick question. Is you saw hard mounted to the table?
@@zowtiak Noooooooo! My whole system is portable and fast set up. My very first video was about my workbench design and hanging the TS off the end. Check out this video, but I think there are 100s or so videos on my channel about the TS mount 😎 ruclips.net/video/zC0wgoNtUWQ/видео.html
Hi Ron,
What Festool Dust extractor is that? I see Sawstop recommends minimum 170 CFM . I was wondering what CFM is working for you.
Thanks again 👍
How about some kind of plywood sacrificial fence that could be CNC grooved and connected to the CT?
For what purpose?
@@TheSmartWoodshop Well, if the sacrificial fence has its back grooved, this network connected to a 45 degree clearance at the bottom of the fence and the other end connected to the CT, maybe a part of the dust could be collected this way?
What hose are you using for your CTS?
It looks windy out there Ron, you wingfoiling yet?
